    Smart Watch that needs more

I purchased the Garmin vivoactive watch about a month or so ago. Likes: connecting to smart phone and pairing with apps that I use for fitness tracking. Easy to use and enjoys not carrying my phone around. Seems pretty accurate when comparing to other devices. Likes that it is waterproof and has the ability to differ between indoor and outdoor training. Likes being able to glance at news feeds, updates, calls on my wrist. Screen is very bright and easy to read. Dislikes: battery life sucks. I can wear it about a day and then has to be charged, specially if you have it connecting to your phone a lot. Hates that it doesn't map your workout like other Garmin Devices. Should be able to connect to satellites just like a gps device to map your runs, rides, swims. The owner manual is lacking, most of what I have learned to do with it came from trial and error. Overall I like it, just still getting used to how to use it effectively. Definitely the best part is not having to mess with your phone while you are running or training and being able to see your splits, times, heart rate, by just swiping the screen easy.

Thank you for your review. I hope to address your concerns/dislikes about your Garmin vívoacitve. Regarding the battery life, the device is deigned to last up to 3 weeks and up to 10 hours in GPS mode. However if your vívoactive continuously receives notifications through the day this can impact the battery charge.

Regarding a GPS feature on the vívoacitve, the device does have a GPS function to allow you to track your run, bike, or swim. After completing the activity you would then upload your activity(ies) to your Garmin Connect account to have your online account map out your activity.

Regarding the concern about the lack of information in the owner's manual, I would encourage you to visit www.garmin.com/ideas to provide feedback for the owner's manual of your vívoactive. Also, in the event you have not viewed the owner's manual of your device, please use the link below.

I love this Garmin! It's an upgrade from my Polar FT4, i can use a Rhythm Scosche strap with it instead of the chest strap, which is the main reason I chose this, plus it has a large enough screen for reading out texts and emails, etc. Also love the vibrating alarm clock, wakes me up every time!

Bought this as a gift for my husband for his birthday as he requested this model. He likes battery life and accuracy however the interface isn't intuitive, very dark screen, and can't do a whole lot directly on the watch. Most has to be done on the app or website. But I purchased it on sale at $80 off the regular price so it is good for that price not regular pri e

I replaced my Nike sports watch for the Vivoactive and have not been disappointed. I love how light weight it is and much more comfortable than the bulky Nike. Keeps track of my runs and i'm happy.

A very handy item to remind you to get up and moving. Walking, running, swimming it tracks it all. And the golf feature is great. Add it tells time!

great product but just came short of my expectations. Im comparing this to the fit bit surge. the screen it self isnt too bright. it doesnt connect to alot of phones (its a network issue). heartrate sensor is separate. I really wish they had a display of this in store so i could have tinkered with it. the BB I went to wouldnt let me test it or had one out.

Thank you for your review on your Garmin vívoactive. We are sorry to hear the device did not meet your expectations. We hope to help address some of your concerns with your vívoactive.

Regarding the backlight, your vívoactive does have a backlight timeout settings to adjust it to your liking. You can find the backlight options by using the following steps - select the action key > Settings > System > Backlight. You can set the backlight to stay on, however keep in mind this will impact the battery charge.

The Vivoactive smart watch is a great combination of the apple watch and the fitbit. The ability to customize just about every aspect of this watch makes it fun and personalized. The smart watch comes with a number of sports already loaded on which makes tracking your activity quick and efficient.

Received it for Christmas and love it! It is great for running, especially since it gives a breakdown pace for each mile run. I also like that it retains a history of your workouts.

Purchased as a Father's Day present for myself from my kids. Overall very satisfied. Connects Very easily with both my laptop and smartphone via Bluetooth. Generally comfortable to wear, with long battery life. Good customization of activity data screens, though it does take some time. Limitations: 1. Large wrist band barely goes around my wrist, and unable to find an extra large band. 2. Default watch face very basic. I downloaded a free watchface off of the Garmin Connect IQ site which works very well. 3. Step counter is somewhat variable in its count (measured by arm swing when GPS is off to conserve battery life). But, counter is consistent for gauging self-improvement. Overall, very happy with and enjoying this purchase.

This watch helps me get moving, vibrates to let me know when I need to walk around, so i can reach the goal of steps a day. This watch also lets me change the wallpaper easily. i like how it also sends me notifications from my I phone when i get one. It is water resistant and easy to clean. the down fall is if worn all the time, the rubber for the wrist band gets stinky, so needs a wash in soap and water.

I have tried couple of wearable tech for awhile now and so far, this is the best and sinple smart watch I've used. It is a friendly user and simple to use. One of the best feature is the "find my phone" button, because sometimes when you look for keys or phone when you are in a hurry in the morning and dont know where it is, this feature kinda made it easy to find phone whereever you lost it in your house.

This watch is better than any other including Apple,(My wife has an Apple and she has to charge it every night, also hers isn't water proof) it is water proof, the golf GPS is better than my golf watch, it holds a charge for up to 10 days, I am rough with watched due to my job and it holds up like no other. It is light weight but still sturdy. I would not choose a different one if given an option.

Was very disappointed to find out when I got the watch home that it did not come with a built in heart monitor. You have to buy a separate one and then Bluetooth it. What's the point? The verbiage on the box was misleading. If I wanted something separate I'd just buy a heart monitor and wouldn't need the watch at all. But the watch itself is pretty cool. Just not what I need it for.

I bought this for my wife who was wearing a Fitbit at work to track steps and then using and older Garmin Forerunner 201 to track her runs. This has replaced both of those and she loves being able to see when she's getting a call even when her phone is in her purse with the ringer off. The only downside she's mentioned is it takes a minute for this watch to sync to apps where the Fitbit wa al out instant., but a small in in eminence for having everything in one place.
