The Garmin vivosmart does everything it sets out to do. Its sleek style is very comfortable to wear. Sleep tracking monitors motion. My favorite features are the automatic goals for step tracking and the competitions with others. I have been losing inches and walking around while watching tv. If used properly, the vivosmart will help you reach your fitness goals!

Tracking is solid. I would buy again. The water resistance is awesome. Smaller than than the Fitbit charge. The notifications are much better than expected. Can read text messages and any other alert from your smartphone easily. Would highly recommend. The user interface of Garmin connect is not as good as Fitbit but overall the Garmin is a better buy.

I really loved this smart band! Loved, as in I returned it because of one really annoying problem. The Bluetooth range is very short. I have a Samsung Galaxy s6, and without walls or doors in between my wrist and my phone, the band would constantly vibrate and disconnect at about 12 feet away. Everything else about this band was awesome! The touch screen, the notifications, and of course the pedometer! It just wasn't very reliable delivering messages because of the Bluetooth connection problem. After returning this vivosmart band, I purchased another to give it another go, but it just couldn't meet my needs.

Perfect size, smaller than the fitbit, love the reminders to get up and move. I Have had it on 2 weeks without having to recharge it...like I can bluetooth it to my smartphone also and receive texts etc. I don't think you would be disappointed if you purchased this product.

Love the size, fit, and ease of this Garmin. I will say the first one I bought would not sync but think it was just a bad one. The next one has been working great!

I had purchased this before, but the poor state of the firmware led to Bluetooth disconnects and inconsistent notifications. Once you are on the latest firmware, it is smooth sailing. The band is comfortable and water resistant. I think it is the best one out there if you are looking for fitness tracking and notifications.

I'm writing this for my wife, though I have played with it almost more than her, that is the reason for only 4 stars. She loves everything about it except the fact that it is not a dedicated watch that tracks activity. She teaches a local spin class and needs to be able to keep track of the time, this seemed to me to be ideal, but I like it more than she does. If the screen could be set to stay on (lit) she would maybe like it as much as me. I might have to return hers and exchange it for one my size.....and not pink.

I got this as a gift for my sister- who is notorious for not wearing watches or jewelry on her wrists. She's always been that way for some reason (and it took several birthdays/holidays of watch giving to figure this out). So I took a bit of a risk in getting this- but she absolutely loves it. She wears it every day and has become obsessed with making sure that she meets the goal that the device sets every day. I was originally going to get her a Fitbit, but, at the time (12/14), this was the only one that had an idle alert, which set it apart. It also updates it's firmware automatically, which is plus. She also reports that you have to charge it about once every two weeks or so. I know Fitbit is the "cool" brand, but I highly suggest giving the Garmin a shot- it's a superior product, in my opinion.

So far I'm really enjoying this tracker. It was easy to set up, helps me push myself to walk more. I can check my sleep patterns and I love the wake up vibbrate alarm. It is far nicer then a screaming alarm clock. The ability to quickly see a text or call without taking out my phone is great.

    Great for what I needed

It is perfect for what I needed, which was a combination of sleep monitor, smartwatch, and pedometer, while being waterproof enough to handle swimming or washing my hands constantly. Comfort: The comfort level of the watch is amazing. I barely even feel it in my normal day to day routine. I love the fact that it comes with a guard to keep the wristband in place. It is extremely secure, and again, very comfortable. Battery: Even with full functionality going, including a movement reminder, the pedometer, the notifications, the actual watch, having the watch turn on every time I move my arm high enough to view the watch, etc... The battery still lasts about 3-4 days. Fitness Features: The Vivosmart has the Garmin Connect app that will connect with the device to give you detiled information about the data it collects. This can include steps taken (which can vary depending on how your arm moves, but adjusts as you use the device over time. You can also manually adjust stride length with the app.) Miles walked, Sleep activity, Activities performed, workouts performed, courses done, and segments. The Workouts are done through Garminconnect.com. You create them there, then view them on your garminconnect app. the same goes for courses. Segments lets you race against other athletes and see how your times compare to theirs. The app also has a personal records and bagdes area to see your personal progress. The whole thing, from the watch to the App, is customizeable to fit your own needs. If you don't need to track sleeping habits, you can remove that function from the app as well as the watch, and put it on later if you change your mind. Smartwatch features: As a smartwatch, it is really more of a notification device. Unlike higher end smartwatches, you cannot text back or reply. That was fine by me. The notification was all I wanted. Getting a call in, you cannot send straight to voicemail via the watch. This is an option that could be implemented into the features of the watch, I believe, but is not. If you can turn off an alarm on the watch, you should be able to tap the watch and have it send a call to voicemail. I have an iphone, which allows for me to block calls via the phone. However, those blocked calls came through as notifications of missed calls on the VivoSmart, which was quite annoying. This is the main reason I am not giving this a full five stars. As a side note, there is a bit of a giddy feeling when the vivosmart buzzes at you and has a little fireworks display while flashing GOAL! at you when you reach your goal, which is altered on a day to day basis based on the activity the day before.

The garmin is a great entry level fitness tracker. It has a low profile and isn't as bulky as others on the market. Sometimes there are issues with syncing to my phone app, but those are rare. Battery lasts about a week. The ability to read messages from my phone is a nice feature.

I bought this for me wife for 2 reasons - it's waterproof and it lets her read her texts without pulling out her phone. It's great on both counts and she loves tracking her steps and using the app. She isn't interested in tracking her sleep, so she hasn't tried that feature out.

Positives - Band stays on without any issues. Waterproof! Negatives - Needs to charge more than once a week. Continues to loose bluetooth connection. Believe it overstates my steps. Couldn't get alarm to work. Overall I like it, except the bluetooth issue. Since it can't stay connected, then I don't get all the text. Besides, I have to go get phone to respond. I figure I might as well have the vivofit vs vivosmart

We thank you for taking the time to review the vívosmart. I did want to touch on a few issues you've experienced.

Various factors including screen brightness, frequency of smart notifications, and use of a heart rate monitor or other sensors can shorten the battery life in between charges. Adjusting the brightness, disabling smart notifications when not needed, or even turning off the vibration alert for your notifications occasionally can help increase the battery.

With regard to steps, The vivosmart, like other similar fitness bands, is designed to track repetitive walking motion as steps. Occasionally certain movements may mimic a similar motion and cause the device to accumulate a few steps. This could include driving a vehicle (usually due to rough terrain), taking a shower, or brushing your teeth.
Your overall daily step trends and goals should not be significantly affected by these extra counted steps.

If you're having trouble with the alarm, get in touch with our support team at http://j.mp/GRMNSupport. We'd be happy to help you out with it.

Lastly, we recently released a software update for both the vívosmart and mobile app, which improved bluetooth and reconnection stability. Please ensure you're not only up to date on your device software, but also using the latest version of the app.

We value your feedback, and hope you continue to enjoy and benefit from your vívosmart band.
      Thanks again. *CG Garmin

My garmin vivo smart is great! I got it as a gift for christmas and it worked perfectly for 4 months, then the led screen went out. So I went into best buy and they replaced it with a brand new one because I had the protection plan! I love how small it is so it doesn't look huge on my small arm, and I love that I can use it at work where I constantly have my hands wet!

We picked up the vivosmart to replace our vivofit's after it was impossible to purchase replacement batteries. So far so good. The large is a pretty big size and fits my husband to problem. The small is also true to size. initial syncing with your phone may go smooth but may not. 1 connected just fine the other not so much we had to unpair it a few times for it to really sync correctly. But all in all we are both happy with all of the features and notification ability,
