No built in GPS but it's still pretty accurate. The notification vibration seem slightly less then another type I was using but I think it's because this one is slightly tighter due to the heart rate monitor.

I had done quite a bit of research on the Internet looking for one with specific criteria so I looked at every model by every manufacturer. In the end it was the heart rate function without having to wear extra gear that tipped the balance. My son had had recent heart surgery for afib and we wanted to know immediately if he was having another episode. The sleep monitor function has helped to learn better sleep habits which has a direct correlation to heart health. Now the entire family has a Garmin vivosmart and we encourage and support each other to reach our fitness goals.

    Great activity tracker.

My first activity tracker was a Garmin Vivofit. No problems there and I really liked it. But when I saw the upgrades with the stairs climbed and heart rate monitor I wanted to get one. I reviewed many trackers. Having had a good experience with my first Garmin, and, the features of the updated version, I chose the Garmin Vivosmart HR. Plus I found that only Garmin offers trackers that are waterproof(I wear mine in the shower-no problems). Out of the box...I'm no tech geek but had this tracker up and running in no time. I had downloaded the instruction manual and glanced over it first. I have a very small wrist and got the small band tracker. My wrist is about 5-6 inches. The band fits snugly with only two holes left to make it tighter. I've read reviews that the tracker is uncomfortable. I disagree. I hardly notice that I have it on. It is very comfortable. I really like all the features of this tracker and the use of the online Garmin Connect. I also like that you can personally customize some of the functions. The tracker appears to be accurate. I did have a problem with the "stairs climbed", but, I re-read the manual and cleaned the 2 little barometer holes and that fixed the problem. I charge the tracker about every 4 days. The description says the charge last approx. 5 days but I don't wait. Besides, I like to sync it with my laptop and get on Garmin Connect. Oh, I don't own a smartphone, so, I don't even use most of the features this tracker offers. Even so, I love this tracker. Garmin offers great quality for the price. And, it looks sharp. As an extra....originally this tracker sold for $149.00. On Black Friday weekend, Best Buy had on sale for $69.99!!! Couldn't pass that up and I bought it. As I said, I love this tracker and would highly recommend it.

I have not found the heart rate erratic as I've read in some reviews. The down side to this watch is that it is a little bit thick and therefore stiff. So it can be a little uncomfortable to sleep in. Otherwise it works great. I'm m using Garmin Connect through my Android device and I like it. The watch was easy for me to set up. I bought my kid a Samsung Gearfit that I absolutely love BUT it only works with LIMITED Samsung devices. what a shame.

Great product! I upgraded from the Garmin Vivofit 2. With the vibration to remind me to move is better than the red status bar on the Vivofit 2. Calories burned is more accurate as well due to the HR function. I am 100% happy with Garmin Vivosmart HR activity tracker.

This is my first activity tracker, so I do not have anything to compare it to. I do like the fact that it tracks my steps and stairs climbed. Pairing it with the app will give you more results, such as calories burned and floors descended. The tracker can inform you of the weather, email notifications, text notifications, etc. It can also track your sleeping pattern as well. I am still learning more about its features but overall, I do like it. Some additional thoughts include that it pairs well with my smartphone and you can play music on it. There is also a do not disturb feature as well as a phone finding feature. If you are idol for too long, you will receive a message telling you to move. :) I hope this helps. I purchased it over the holiday season for about $70. I would recommend it to a friend. It is taking me time to get used to wearing it all the time as it can be a bit irritating at times.

My Husband and I went through 3 Fitbits and decided that we should probably switch to the something else so we went with the Garmin. We definitely like it a lot better than the Fitbit Charge HR. I highly recommend whatever you decided to go with you get the warranty as it is definitely worth the money (especially with the Fitbit)!!

Step tracking is quite accurate; stair accuracy stinks but I don't really care about that; battery life is quite good and generally lasts about 1 week or a bit less; heart rate is pretty accurate as well. Much improved band over the Vivosmart earlier versions.

I bought the Garmin fitness tracker because it had a larger display than the other brands of similar price and function. The display orientation is adjustable, so you can adjust it to make it easier to read on the go. It works great and gives me the incentive I need to reach my fitness goals each day. The only issue I have had is it occasionally loses Bluetooth connection with my Samsung phone. It may be an issue with my older phone and not the fitness tracker. When I bought it, just took a few minutes to get it set up and connected to my smart phone. Battery life seems to be about 4 days between recharges. I have had the device for more than a month.

After doing some research on step trackers with built-in heart rate functionality. We decided to treat each other with the the Garmin VivoFit HR for Christmas because it did not require the additional chest strap, it integrates with myFitnessPal, plus the software seemed fairly straight forward. After using it for a couple of weeks we noticed that even though we were walking together... My wife's unit was tracking more steps than mine.. So we measured our steps and calibrated both of our Vivofit HR's according to Garmin's wiki pages and support team. Still the same result so we set them both back to factory default and switched bands with each other... Now mine has more steps than hers so we know it's not a hand-waiving/stride difference as Garmin support has tried to convince us is the issue on three occasions. As a side note, i also track our steps on my iPhone which matches what it should be. On average the difference is 10,000 steps on my wife's unit is only 7,000 steps on mine which is a HUGE difference when you are matching stride for stride. Bottom line is that this product so close to being perfect, but just doesn't measure up to it's description and reviews.

Thank you for the feedback you have provided. We are pleased to hear you chose Garmin. We understand your step count is off and you've been in contact with support about the issue. However, I want to recommend Custom Step Length: http://bit.ly/1MUpBCp. This will personalize the device for the individual. You might still see a difference, considering the step length however this will be a more accurate count. If you are still having a major gap, and your step length is the same, please contact our support team so we can take a look at the data. I did some research on other brands of Activity Tracker in this price range and found that this Garmin Vivosmart HR Activity tracker was the best bang for the buck. Not only is it splash resistant but you can swim w/ it down to 10' underwater. So no worries about forgetting to take it off in the shower or while doing dishes. It has a lot of features that I was not expecting like the alarm to wake you that has a nice strong pulse and chime that actually awakens you. The "phone finder" button is a nice feature if you misplaced your phone push a button on the watch and your phone chimes. Also I was surprised to see there is a 4 day weather forecast. Heart rate monitor seems to be pretty accurate. Comfortable to wear. Plan on using all the activity feature when the weather gets better but there is a lot there. The Garmin Connect Ap is very cool and keeps track of everything for you. You can also change a lot of setting from there, like what kind of notifications to get, did I mention notifications, how cool is that. You don't even have to have your phone on you to know if your getting a phone call or a text or email. Your band buzzes and you can scroll through them on your band. You can control your music player from your band too. So far so good. The only thing is I wish the color was a little bit more vibrant. Its more of a dull black, only looks slightly purple in bright lights. I would suggest ordering a screen protector at the same time to prevent from scratching it. Overall I am very please with this Activity Tracker and can't wait to use all the features.

It's a good watch and that's about it. It's not awful or anything but the app sucks. I have it on iPhone and it's hardly ever connected unless I reopen the app. It will tell me I met my stairs climbed goal while I'm driving down the highway. And my strap broke pretty easily. It does monitor sleep pretty well and you can swim in it.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about the vívosmart HR. We’re sorry about the floors being climbed when driving. The floors climbed feature is measured by a barometer that counts a single floor at 10 feet at a grade 8% or greater, when driving its possible the device will misunderstand the reading as floors climbed. Our Engineer team is working on a software update to improve floors climbed. We also apologize for any issues you’re having with the vívosmart HR not connecting to your iPhone, please reach out to our product support at www.garmin.com/support so they can help with this issue.
Again, we thank you for your time.

We purchased this product as a gift for a family member. She has reported that she loves the multiple functions that is offers. It offers discrete notifications to her wrist for incoming text, phone calls and text while she is at work. Now lets talk health features, it gives her reminders based on her inputs to get up and move to reach your daily goals, it gives her on the spot heart rate information (key) to those on calorie burning type workouts or diet's. She has not reported any complaints so far as to it's ergonomics or functionality, and it has a very decent battery life compared to other products on the market, i.e. (Fit-Bit) yuck! We also have other Garmin products and they are also great.

Its great for those who do not like bulky watches but also want the features of counting their steps, calories, workouts. Even getting their text messages or notifications of incomming phone calls. I love it with because then my phone is not always attached to me, plus you can go swimming wiht it! I rarely know I have it on and now I use that for the time or weather more than I use my phone which I always looked at..

I wanted a Fitbit that would count my love for swimming. With the Vivosmart HR I got exactly what I wanted and more. The only thing that stopped me from giving 5 starts is the sync with my IPhone health stats. It syncs everything except weight, which I found a little annoying. Hoping to see an update to correct this eventually. Other than that I love battery life, charge time, data, and convince.

My wife received the activity tracker a few days ago. It does everything she needs it to do at 1/3 of the price as apple product. It works great with her I phone and is also easy to connect. The only problem we ordered a purple one and Best Buy sent a black one. We tried to exchange at local Best Buy store but they wouldn't return it. My wife had thrown the box away.
