    Worthy competitor to the Fitbit

This is a very good fitness band. At the same price point it's more ambitious than the Fitbit with notifications and other smart-watch type features. Battery life between charges is OK, and it pairs nicely with the Garmin app. The always on display is nice too and the colors are subtle. It will also fasten securely on your wrist and is comfortable to wear and accurate. Downsides, notifications can be a pain to scroll through, and it doesn't feel quite as rugged as the Fitbit but will do. Nor does it have the FitBit user base. But overall it's a quality unit and one I think people will be happy with.

Tried the fitbit and others and the bright sun made it so you could not read the numbers. I wanted a device I could track my heart rate just by looking down at device, not touching it and just see the heart rate easily. This device the numbers actually glow in the light. HR just lagging a couple of seconds in fitness mode, but acceptable. Does give 24/7 HR, but if not in fitness mode only calculates it every 5 mins unless pressed and held. ONLY drawback is the device does not detect cycling or indoor fitness. I use a separate app on my phone that does the GPS and calories burned while cycling.

I have now had and used the Garmin Vivosmart HR fitness tracker for a month. I find that it is accurate in steps, but not always in stairs. I am always motivated by watching numbers rise throughout the day, and excited when I reach my goals! I love the heart rate monitor aspect, and the sleep tracker. I am clumsy, and have fallen a few times while walking on a gravel road. The Garmin takes a beating, but still keeps going. I also love that I don't have to remove it for showering or swimming.

the Vivofit HR counts calories burned, but it gives a higher reading than the old Bodybugg. The app is useful, but it could be improved, by showing when the calories were burned minute by minute rather than just the total. The wake-up alarm can be set in the app without connecting to the computer. It's handy for finding my phone, and can control the music on my phone. (start, pause, skip, etc.) It is comfortable and easily adjusted, and connects easily to My Fitness Pal.

I had the older version of this item and I like this one better. I wear it every day. I charge it after a 1 week a half. It has a long battery life. It's easy to read. I like that when I get calls or texts I have alert. I can read my texts from the band. It tracks blood pressure too. Has the weeks temperatures. I also like the app on my phone that tracks my activity. I have another one like this one because the older version of this item had issues with the display so I called Garmin and they sent me a new one. They made lots of improvements with this one. Garmin stands by their product.

    Screen Chips very easily....

Purchased the Vivosmart HR, and only had it about 2 weeks, and was walking and literally tapped my hand on the doorknob and immediately looked down at my device to check it as you normally would, and on the face of the screen it appears a thin layer of the glass has chipped off, so obviously the screens aren't made to withstand much wear and tear, and I honestly didn't bump it that hard. It seems to be interfering with the function of the touch screen now.. Thankfully I have the Geek Squad coverage and should be able to take it back and return it for another device.

We are sorry to hear the screen on your device is damaged. This is not something we see often as the screen is made of a hardened glass. We appreciate the details and hope you can choose Garmin again. Best regards. ~QKO Garmin

I'm a big fan of the Vivosmart. I had the original one and the only downside was that you had to wear a chest strap to measure heart rate. Although it is more accurate that way, it's too inconvenient for me. This new Vivosmart measures HR from the wrist. In addition it tracks steps, sleep and activities. I particularly like that it pairs with my phone and displays notifications when I get a text or app notification. The only downside is that you can't control the brightness of the screen. It looks great in the sunlight but can be a little hard to read in low light.

Thank you for your positive review! The screen brightness is non-adjustable, however the vívosmart HR does feature Auto Backlight. This allows the vívosmart HR to automatically turn on the backlight when you rotate your wrist toward your body.

This tracker with HR is perfect for me. I have Afib and have to keep track of my HR. It keeps my steps so I can get enough exercise also. The best part is that it is waterproof so I can be in and out of the water without thinking about it.

Tried them all. This is the one that best fits somebody whose goal is keeping track of healthy activities. Waterproof is a plus. Battery last more than any of its competitors. Only caveat for me is the phone Application (Connect) response. Most of the times it takes a few attempts to get the application synchronized with the tracker. Also, if you want to keep track of your food intake, you need to use a third party application that provide such information to Connect. It works smoothly but other brands have this information within their own app like Fitbit. Tracker is great. Good looking. Comfortable on my wrist. Easy to see information on screen whether you are indoor or outdoor, another plus, Works perfectly as your regular watch while not exercising or doing any other health related activity.

The Garmin Vivosmart HR is a great fitness tracker for people looking to monitor activities like steps, stairs, and especially heart rate. The step tracker is generally pretty accurate and is comparable to Fitbit trackers. The HR monitor is also pretty accurate although for the sake of battery life it doesn't do constant monitoring. Comparing versus the trackers on other fitness equipment, it records numbers that are usually within 1-2 bpm of the other equipment reading. Overall I think this is a very good fitness tracker for the money.

This is a sports band with real HR readings

This is not my first Garmin band, I was already in the previous model. However after 13 months using previous vivosmart and starting to receive very weird lectures of my statistics, I decided to change to a more advanced device and I start to check to HR readings. It was the beginning of October and I tried with the new Microsoft. After a week of disappointments, I decided to return it and buying this HR model. The first good news was coming with the 100 USD that I saved with the change and starting from there I found what I was looking for. A sport band that keeps me updated of my steps (now included the floors climbed) and automatically increases my targets. The HR readings are quite goods (I tested HR with other devices at the same time) but it take few minutes to have the exact lecture in all the devices (I only have one heart!). I love the app, and how easy is reading the different targets even if sometimes there is some delay between the synchronization and the app update (if you need all being synchronized at the same time you could be frustrated). A second aspect that I love, is the real integration with other apps (one for tracking calories) that consolidates the data in the dashboard (sometimes I need to do the sync directly in the gamin connect web instead of the app and I hope that they improve it for the future). You need to charge batteries every 5 days vs the 7 in previous model but is a lot better than other devices that require you to do it almost daily (how you can follow your daily rutine if your device is one hour in the laptop??) This is a real sport band with a reasonable price and good readings!

I have had my hr for two months now. I've really enjoyed it thus far. I appreciate it being waterproof and not having to worry about it getting wet. It's comfortable, steps seem accurate and I enjoy having the hr piece to it. only complaint is that it tells me to move when I have been, but maybe I don't understand how much it takes to trigger the move nudge. I would recommend this over the Fitbit charge hr in hr accuracy.
