I spent a great deal of time researching for a GPS watch for active life style that can also be used as regular watch with minimal smart watch capabilities. This is it, there is no other product like this - Run, Bike, Swim(no open water swim), Walk(sorry no hike option - you can change it after the walk to hike in connect iq), smart notifications, music controls, etc....But I have to say, in spite of being a very techie person the setup was very annoying, not to mention I had to google at least a couple of times to know how any app works. The syncing is very bad and so are tools...This is the kind of watch I wanted and hoping software patches will fix all issues eventually.

I use this watch primarily for running. I love all of the features of this watch and I feel like I am always ready to run. I take the watch off only to charge it, which is usually once every week and a half. The satellite locator works almost instantly, no waiting around to find a satellite. I love the alarm feature and there are a lot of useful apps you can download for the watch. I've had a couple of different garmin watches, and this is the first one I feel that I can wear all the time and not have it look super bulky or ugly.

I have tried many activity tracking devices and all of them fall short of the functions the VivoActive. The best part of the unit is the watch and the integration with a smartphone to get notifications on your wrist. the GPS function is great while training as it provides accurate distances. I would recommend this watch to anyone looking for an activity tracker.

I have been running, biking and golfing with my new Vivoactive and added a Garmin heartrate sensor strap. Very pleased with the performance and app to which it all links.

Watch is great. Only downfall it seems to lose the connection from my sell phone more than I was expecting. Sometimes it takes multiple times to reconnect the phone and watch. Other than that, awesome product

Purchased the watch for normal activity, walking, cycling and golf. All work exceptionally. The golf uses a lot of battery so I only use it as backup but the other activities work up to my expectation. Keeps me on my toes and I love the notification features.

i had a vivofit first. Liked it but wanted the gps. This is a great price for the gps watch and all it does. Daughter bought a more expensive Apple Watch. She doesn't use it....I never take mine off!

After doing some research, I felt more comfortable purchasing the Garmin than the Fit . I love the options that are available with this watch! This is my third Garmin. I have always been very satisfied with the quality, durability, and accuracy.

The bluetooth capablility of this watch is only to hook up to the phone, so does NOT hook up to a bluetooth heart rate monitor - only Ant+ When swimming, will not hook up to ANY heart rate monitor - even Garmin's HRM for swimming! Indoor activity tracking is severely limited. No app for weights for example. There are apps for treadmill & indoor cycle, but obviously data tracked is pretty limited as thr watch will not hook up to the treadmill/cycle for data & so only has the accelerometer and maybe a HRM as raw data inputs. Thats the bad. The good: Battery life is really impressive - even with GPS on tracking a full day's skiing for example only uses about 1/3 of the capacity, and recharge is quick. The ski tracking app is good. I assume that the running/cycling apps are as good as it is Garmin. The "app store" type approach for the apps is good and I hope/expect more apps will come along as the marketplace matures. However, remember that though this watch has many of the hardware capabilites of Garmin's more expensive specialist trackers & I would assume they are not going to kill that market by duplicating features on this cheaper watch - the swim HRM is a good example. Upon reflection would I recomend to a friend? Probably not now - but ask me in the summer when running/cycling outdoors is an option and the answer may be different!

What a great step up from the Fitbit I was using! I mostly bought this for the golf capabilities, but now really appreciate the rest of the fitness apps. It is lightweight as well, which I really like. Run, don't walk, to get this watch.

I love this watch. I really wish it was the hr version because i have to hookup and wear one around my chest. The battery is starting to die a bit faster and its only been 7 months. I do wear it everyday and night.

I purchased my Garmin Vivoactive this past Christmas and I love it. I am kind of picky so I first returned my Fitbit because it was so obtrusive and looked and felt weird on my wrist. I then purchased an Apple Watch even though I knew that it didn't have GPS capability. That, and the price, of the Apple Watch caused me to purchase my Vivoactive. I have always used Garmin devices, the 625 currently, to track my runs. So I should have stuck with the brand that I am used to so I would not have had to go to all the trouble. Love that this tracks more than just runs. Wish it had a built in HR monitor. Maybe down the road....

Love it for its ability to be able to track literally every activity in partake in. I would have liked if there was a community built around it as easily as the Fitbit does. However the positives of this product are far superior than anything else out there.
