However, when I bought this defective item from Best Buy made by GE, you simply washed your hands of the problem and told e to take this up with GE. GE customer service is worthless. I will not buy another product from GE because of how they handled this matter. I'm also reevaluating my decision of having bought from Best Buy if they are not going to stand by what they sell.

Posted .We certainly understand how important it is to have your microwave working properly. This microwave does have a child lock, and the door will lock every time a cook cycle starts. If you need to disable this lock feature, you can do so by pressing the "7" key for 3-5 seconds. Then press the 9 key and release. Finally press the 0 key and release. There will be two short beeps, and the display will show "UnLo". The full description of this can be found on page 12 of the Use and Care manual on the product page. -Kacie@GEAppliances

It works fine, is just severely underpowered. Items that took 1 minute to heat up in my 1100w takes 3-4 longer in this unit.

Posted .We'd like to help out with your microwave not heating as expected, the odors, and the condensation. We recommend trying out an electronic reset, to help with the heating issues. This can be done by unplugging the power cord for 2-3 minutes, then plugging it back in. An electrical odor in new microwaves can be normal because the electronic board is "curing" as the circuit board material is heated for first few uses. For the condensation, we recommend making sure food that needs to be covered while cooking is covered properly and make sure that there are no items blocking the airflow around the microwave case. For additional troubleshooting, we recommend checking out our support article titled "Microwave - Moisture or Condensation" located on our GE Appliances website in the support section.
