Over time, this has not been super reliable. Four years in, and it just broke. I have also had problems with the top trim panel around the controls just breaking.

    Now, This Machine Cleans Dishes!

This machine replaces a two-year-old LG that worked poorly from day one. It's so nice to put in dirty dishes and get clean ones when the cycle is over. I like the smooth and efficient lower-rack rail system, and the way the rack positions the dinner plates for maximum cleaning efficiency. I like the multiple cleaning programs, the multiple drying levels and the fact that it is a very quiet machine. But mostly, I'm just happy I don't have to put the dishes back in for a second washing when they should have been cleaned the first time around. I've owned GE dishwashers in the past, and they worked extremely well. In fact, the first one I owned lasted about 10 or 11 years.

    Overall pleased, but have reservations

We bought this almost one month ago, along with the slate refrigerator. Went with this model as it received better reviews than the other slate dishwasher. Generally, we're very happy with it, but have noticed that the dishes and glasses come out with a strong detergent odor. We typically use 7th Generation but are using Cascade at the moment, along with the rinse aid. The bigger problem that just arose is that there is approx 2 in of water on the bottom of the dishwasher. We ran it a second time, and it's still there. We don't see anything that could be clogging the drain. Hoping a call to GE will take care of the situation.

Hello KelT - this is Nancy at GE Appliances. We are sorry to hear that there is water in the bottom of the tub of your dishwasher, and I'm happy to help you. One or two cups of clean water at the bottom of the tub is normal to keep the pump seals moist. If it is more than this, please check that the air gap on your sink is not clogged (please refer to the Owner's Manual for more detailed instructions). Also, please run water into the sink so you can see that your sink and/or disposer are clear. Otherwise, please contact GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. I hope this helps! Thanks for providing your feedback and for choosing GE! GE_Appliances

Replacement dishwasher for us and it is very quiet, as advertised. Has small indicator light at the top so you can tell if it is running or finished. It is so quiet, that is a necessity!

    quietest dishwasher ever

The dishwasher looks great and it is the quietest dishwasher ever! My sister-in-law was going to open it to see the inside and then she noticed the light. She asked me if it was on and I said yes. She couldn't believe it because there is no sound!!! I'm still getting used to the best way to load the bottom but I love that the utensil basket is on the bottom rack and not in the door. I don't think the door racks clean as well.

    Fatal Flaw

First let me say this is the best washer we have ever had. Cleans beautifully. Super quiet. Here's the fatal flaw; it takes 5 to 8 tries to get the door to latch. Repair company is coming out for the 4th time since we got it installed in April. Even if you get the door to latch and it starts the door will pop open during the wash. So you can't leave it unattended. This situation is unacceptable. If it only had another style latch I would be in love with this dishwasher.

    do not buy this dishwasher

I purchased this unit in December and had a contractor install as part of a kitchen remodel in Feb. The unit would not work so a Best Buy technician replaced a control board. This wasn't the problem, so he called GE to get another power board, and was told by GE that GE NO LONGER MAKES THAT PART FOR THIS DISHWASHER! This dishwasher is still being sold by GE, but they have stopped making parts for it! I called Best buy and they referred me to GE's customer service. They wanted to send me another identical unit. Then offered a different model when I said it would be stupid to replace the unit with the same model that parts are no longer made for. I am dumbfounded. I am glad that I purchased a Samsung refrigerator. It has been great, but I am now worried about my new GE stove and microwave / hood vent ($900). What I really want is a refund but GE won't do it. This is definitely the last GE I will ever buy. By the way, I think Best Buy is great, it's just GE that sucks; they should stop selling appliances they cannot support. I hope at least they follow through and send me a new unit, however.
