Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the 3.8 Cu. Ft. 13-Cycle Top-Loading Washer's quiet operation, large capacity, and ease of use as significant advantages. However, some users express concerns regarding the effectiveness of the wash and spin cycles, with clothes sometimes feeling insufficiently clean or remaining too wet after the wash. The machine's ability to maintain balance during operation is also a point of contention for some customers. While many appreciate its size and value for the price, improvements to the cleaning and spin performance are suggested.

It is simple to use, nothing fancy about it.

I originally had a fancy machine that had a sensing board that adjusted everything on the machine once the lid locked. I hated it! I just wanted a machine that allowed me to make all of the decisions and let me open and close the machine whenever I wanted. I love this one! It is just like the old machines that I used for over 45 years. It is simple and does the job!

I needed a washing machine to do a lot of loads with a large capacity. Since I had limited space, I could not put in a machine larger than this one. I consulted several washing machine repair folks, and they advised me NOT to purchase the "fancy" machines with all kinds of high tech features, as they break down. I have large family and do tons of laundry. This has been great and was at a great price point.

I am happy with my new washer. It is very quiet with very little vibration. I had a problem with the warm and hot settings not hot enough but the GE repair man replaced the mixing valve with the old style valve and now warm setting is warm and hot setting is hot.

Big 3.9 cu. ft. capacity with stainless tub works great. I replaced a high efficiency low water use washer with this. The high efficiency takes forever to wash and the clothes are not agitated clean, normally taking two washes to complete. This GE washer is simple, retro, and it works better than the high efficiency low water models.

This is a reasonably priced get EXACTLY what you pay for washer. We wanted to be able to wash our Queen size comforters and not have to replace computerized touch screens or panels or high tech sensors. This washer is NOT "high efficiency" which is good!! It means you can use enough water to actually wash your clothes! It also has a million settings on the load size dial so you can be as water consciencous as you like. Had the washer now 3 months its GOLDEN. Nothing stuck in agitator and my wife has no problems w her bra or dress straps getting caught just put them at the top of the load. Very pleased. Best Buy also has best deal especially w warranty, whatever plan u choose 3 or 5 years when it expires u can pay same price for the same period of time again. We plan to warranty it for ten years

Lots of reviews, so will base comments on those: -Bowl is deep. Good if you are over 5-7. Bad if you are short. -Doesn't rattle the house when spinning, but it does vibrate itself. Seems like it is about to take off, but seems to not walk around. -I like how you can open and close while it is running, but it doesn't let you cheat and poke down the lid gizmo like the old ones. Some magnet thing. I will continue to figure out a way to outsmart it. -Hasn't eaten any clothes. -Still trying to figure out optimum watter level. -Seems to clean clothes well. -Uses old style detergent. -Cycle time is comparable with the old one we had for 20 years. -Not ultra high quality, but also not alot to break since it is analog not digital

This is a nice simple washing machine. It is very quiet. My clothes come out clean. I love the large capacity. I do not feel like it spins my clothes as well as my old washing machine which means more drying time. Other than that I am very happy with it.

I bought this with the matching dryer and am pleased so far. I don't hear water or clothes sloshing around like I did with my older washer, which makes me wonder how well it's cleaning. I don't do a lot of heavy duty washing other than the occasional yard work clothes, but this washer seems to do a good job. It does make a faint high pitched sound when it agitates, but it's not too bad and I almost don't even notice it anymore.

It does well with light to moderately soiled loads. It did not spin water from the queen sized comforters well as expected. Not sure if I should have used a different cycle. I will wash my coat and see what happens. My old Mag tag did great!!! This washer tops washing movement if the lid is opened to add an item you are not certain if more water needs to be added. Some things should not be changed. Stop movement on spin is understandable. I have not yet washed a heavily soiled load yet, hope it will do a good job, if not I will probably pay a lot and get the Maytag Performa fixed.

Hello workmate- this is Nancy at GE. This is one of our most popular models. Some bulky items will hold more water than regular clothes during the spin. But we believe you will like how well this washer cleans your heavily soiled load. We appreciate your feedback. Thanks for choosing GE! GE_Appliances

After 24 years, my old GE washer was on its last legs and I replaced it with pretty much the same model. GE changed the top loading washer in those years and they no longer have a lint strainer into which the water flows...actually the whole wash cycle is different, but I do miss the lint catcher which always had a ball of fuzz to throw out. The clothes seem to come out clean, but I am still getting used to the little amount of water that is used. I also like to watch the machine agitate and judge the amount of soap, but now, the machine shuts down when the door is lifted. I will get used to it. I like the machine and I think it is valued about right in comparison to other models I have seen.

Installers did not remove a bar at the bottom of washer and I came close to returning it - was so loud and moved around. Fortunately a neighbor new what the problem was and luckily it did not appear to damage it. Works wonderfully now - also you are required to buy new hoses and parts for the dryer which the installers tried to keep but I got them and returned for money back since they did not put them on.

    Pretty good top-loader

I was in the market for a washing machine after my previous, used, top-loader gave up. Before I had gear driven washing machines. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet the belt driven washing mode is. It's so quiet, I thought it wasn't working with the first load. The bucket is a good size for a small family. A couple of things I had to get used to is the naming convention of the cycle modes. They are not very descriptive, but I think it's to be more "user friendly." Also it "senses" loads to better maximize efficiency. I haven't found a fault with that as of yet- only time will tell. I did some research on top-loaders vs. front loaders and found that many people complained about front loaders not cleaning clothes and the maintenance involved with them. So I went with what I know. Overall it is a good buy for the money (it was on sale at the time) and cleans the clothes as you would expect.

Washer had everything I was looking for. Large tub, I could select the water level and temp. and simple knob operations. Perfect for me in every way except the spin cycle. Left my clothes very wet which meant double the drying time. Maybe I just received a defective one...not sure. Had to return and ordered a front load HE instead. I still getting used to using it. Wanted a simple standard washer which is hard to find these days.

Washer is great. On the first day I put a queen comforter in and the sheets plus other clothes and everything fit. Came out clean. I would definitely recommend this product especially if you are tired of spending thousands of dollars on electrical garbage and want to go back to the good old days of basic equipment.
