The dryer stops randomly when it feels like it when you choose a dry cycle. The only way it works is if you do a timed dry. Takes forever to dry clothes even if you put a small amount in. Not worth the money.

Brand new dryer is not turning, when I called Best Buy the representative and even manager very unhelpful and their only inquiry was if I purchased protection plan

This is a lemon....dryer balls all the clothes, taking twice as long to dry.

It is hard to believe that a Power cord is sold separately and is not included considering the price of the unit ($872.99). Sure GE can afford to include a Power cord. Perhaps if brand appliances manufacters include a power cord for the same price many consumers will purchase that brand.

Like everyone else, we were limited to compact W/D sets by the small depth of our laundry closet in our condo. This compact GE vented dryer works well, is quiet, and the controls are logical and easy to read. if you're limited in space, note that the GE W/D set are over 26 inches deep whereas several other options are only 24 inches deep. As such, strongly suggest you get a "periscope" dryer vent instead of the coiled flexible dryer vent they automatically recommend. Our installer got the flexible vent to work in a limited space and still close the closet door, but we'll probably replace with a periscope vent in a while. We were replacing a ventless LG dryer that had worked OK for over eight years, but in retrospect I would warn people not to buy a ventless dryer unless you absolutely have to. The warm, humid air in our bathroom area has caused mildew and it can be unpleasantly warm and humid in the summer even with fans. And the vented GE dries in one cycle, whereas the ventless dryer would normally require an extra 30-40 minutes beyond the end of a 2-hour cycle (and yes we kept the lint filters clean).

This started out OK. It wasn't great at drying, but did a decent job at drying. One issue is that it took rather long to dry, with the estimate being very far off the mark. A "1 minute" estimate on the display could easily stretch to be 15 to 20. At the 11 month mark, the drum started getting stuck when starting a cycle. It would whine for a few seconds, then there'd be a loud bump when the drum would start moving. We had GE Service fix it under warranty. The serviceman did a test run before leaving and it seemed to work correctly. The very first use after that, it got stuck again. We immediately called GE Service, because the warranty was close to ending. They gave us an appointment 1 week later. The 2nd serviceman did a nicer job at fixing it. Took apart a different part of it, greased it and it seemed to work fine. But this only lasted a few days, and now its back to whining and getting stuck every time we try to start it. At this point, we're past the warranty, so every service call is $120, and, given our past experience, it feels like it's just going to be wasted money. We've made up our minds to just get a different machine instead of dealing with this one.

The unit is great when it is functioning. Of course this is a smaller unit so it is better suited for a two person house hold. There appears to be an issue with wiring connections in the system. I have had this unit for one year and it now has to be repaired for the second time. Be sure to get the 5 year service plan otherwise don't buy this unit.
