Today the door actuator, which lifts the latch assembly, completely broke... It's out of warranty now and since the actuator broke during heating some food, the light is currently stuck on with a potato rotating on the turntable. I now have to devise a way to lift the latches on the inside of the door to get the door open... Since this also has a trim plate I cannot do anything else, not even unplug it, until I get the door open. I have to remove the trim plate to get access to the unit and the only way to remove the trim plate is with the door open as the screws are only accessible with the door open. We were limited on a replacement due to space, and GE Profile to match other appliances, but this was the only GE Profile available to fit the requirements. I saw some reviews about the door button sticking, but this is ridiculous. Extremely poor design from the trim plate to the inferior plastic door actuator.

Oh no! We're terribly sorry to hear that your microwave door has been damaged. We absolutely understand how devestating that is. Any damage to a microwave or Advantium door (cracks, scratches, peeling, burn marks, etc.) will require service. Federal law requires that any adjustment or repair of a microwave door also be followed up by a leak test to make sure of proper fit, operation, and alignment. Hoping this one lasts longer than 6 yrs. Btw be careful when ordering the trim kit the salesman told me it would fit but it didn’t. He had to cut the wall.

It is mostly plastic and feel cheap compared to 20 year old Sharp microwave. The door closes with a liud thunk! No matter how gently you try to close it. The keypad is not intuitive and one needs to constantly refer back to tge instruction nanual. Cooking seems to work fine. I would mot buy this product again

The built in cabinetry was limiting to my choices for replacement, but this fit and and is a complementary line within the GE Kitchen appliance family - important since it is directly above the existing built in GE oven and needed to match.

The cut out for the new one was the exact same size, but we needed a new trim kit. I insralled it in about a hour. A drill really helps the process. Bought the 5 year warranty because I keep reading how fast the door opener button breaks. So far no problem. Hope it last as long as our last one did.

Terribly made product

Immediately had a door issue, which after speaking to the repair tech and reading several reviews is common. Then, last week it went completely dead....called GE. Called Best Buy. apparently no one does drop off microwave repair locally. cost to come out is $99. Cost to drop off at Best Buy, who then sends it out is $85. Spoke to GE customer service. He thinks it is likely the Magnetron Tube, which he says will cost about as much as a new microwave..... So, my delimna, Do I but the same unit because I paid $200 for the trim kit and modified the cabinet for it? Or do I find a differnt one and spend an extra @200 for their trim kit? Bottom line.....it looks cheap. It feels cheap and apparently it perfroms cheap.......STAY AWAY!!!! Read the on line reviews....door problems and the Magnetron tube are a common issue.....UGH!!!!!
