The GE - Quartz 6-Slice Toaster Oven with Convection Bake - Stainless Steel brings GE Appliances back to the forefront of the competition! This toaster oven surprises you with an awesome UI and easy to use built in settings, while ensuring that the food is cooked well, hot, and evenly throughout!
Honestly, I did not expect much from this Oven as I have used other brands which I am loyal too and did not believe that GE could make a comeback and compete! I was wrong! This oven cooked very well, even better than the one I currently use at home. The convection feature ensures even cook throughout the food. I really liked the UI and the preprogrammed setting, but the option to change them to my wants at any time. I am really impressed with this GE product and highly recommend it to any one who wants a countertop cooking option that actually works well!
The Wire rack did not limit the heat to the bottom of the tray and the tray ensured even cooking top and bottom. The wire handle was sufficient to lift the trays out safely and was sturdy enough for most food and weigh.
PROS
- GE is back!
- Well designed and works as intended
- Looks great and has tons of room for food in a small footprint
- UI is great, intuitive, and effective
- Food is cooked well!
CONS
- Surprisingly, none!

Goes Big and Goes Home

This isn't a case of go big or go home, it's go big AND it goes home! This toaster oven with convection baking hits it out of the park for a home run. First off, the main thing you'll notice upon opening the box is that this is pretty large! So expect it to take up a lot of space on your counter top or wherever you place it.
It is powerful, and with its large size, it has no problem holding multiple pieces of pandesal or slice bread, or anything you want to warm up. It's more than just a toaster thanks to its design. It's truly a nice hybrid.
Its stainless steel finish and overall look is pretty nice and aesthetically pleasing and makes your kitchen look nicer.
It's really easy to use, an it's something so simple that you may take it for granted, but that's what it's there for---to make your life easier.

Hi - Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with your new toaster oven. We hate to hear the unit is making weird sounds and that it is burning your pizza. We do recommend reviewing page 8 of the owner's manual to fine-tune your preferences for cooking your pizza -- https://files.bbystatic.com/G%2FsVjeWm6TffqBb1XYUx3Q%3D%3D/Manual -- If these issues persist, please call 1-800-432-2737 to discuss your warranty coverage. More than a toaster oven!

GE’s Quartz convection toaster oven is as close to a real oven as you can come in a relatively large toaster oven form factor. This unit is about the same size as a small/medium microwave, but it is worth the counter space if you have some to spare.
Included in the box with the oven is a rack, tray, and a little wire lifting handle to remove those two items from the oven when hot. Also included is a nice PAPER owner’s manual. This is very convenient when learning to use the appliance, instead of having to search for and deal with an online manual. I love not killing trees, but online manuals can be a real hassle...
Once unboxed, the oven requires a 20 minute run on the roast mode prior to first use. Conveniently, it powers on in roast mode when plugged in, so all you have to do is make sure it has adequate clearance on all sides, give the interior a quick clean, and press start. Easy as it gets!
After the initial run, the oven powers on to toast mode, and you simply select the number of slices, the level of toastedness (that’s a word at my house), and press start. But making toast is just the beginning. The oven is controlled using three buttons and two knobs. The upper knob selects the mode and the lower knob selects temperature by default, but pressing it then allows you to set cook time. The buttons are “Start,” “Cancel,” and “Convection”. All pretty self-explanatory, right?
You can broil, roast, bake, and there’s even a pizza mode. Each mode has default temperatures and times, but those can be modified to meet the requirements of your specific dish.
So far I’ve done break and bake cookies in both normal and convection modes. The cookies baked much more evenly using convection than without. Without convection selected the bottoms cooked much faster than the tops, but the convection cookies were perfect. I also used pizza mode for a DiGiorno personal sized pizza. I adjusted the temperature of pizza mode to match the box and had to take the pizza out about two and a half minutes before the default time was reached, and about four and a half minutes earlier than the box indicated, but it was perfectly cooked. I think next time I’ll go with the oven’s default time and temperature and see where that leads. I suspect it will be perfect since the pizza mode uses convection.
The bottom line is, this is a well made, attractive toaster oven that does so much more than a toaster oven and seems to do it all pretty well, but with a bit of a learning curve. I think once we get it all figured out, we’re going to love it even more. It’s a great fit for our home.

This toaster oven started to make a high pitched noise after I use it in the morning. I had to unplug it after each use. Yesterday (03/29), when I used it in the morning, the toaster made a loud, continuous buzzing noise. I had to stop using it. This is not a product that I would recommend to anyone.

DOT NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I bought it in mid December and it's only been 3 months and it stopped working. Makes a loud humming noise and nothing works. Not to mention how complicated the process is to just start the darn thing. You can't add time to the cooking process and the preheat take s 20mins to complete and if you aren't there when it dings to hit start for bake then you have to start all over again. It's crappy and I wasted my money.

Hi there, thanks for the review on your toaster. Sorry to hear about the issues you've had with your unit. We did want to say that when the oven has reached the selected temperature, the oven alarm will sound to indicate that the preheat cycle is complete. The oven will continue to maintain the selected temperature for 10 minutes. Place food in the oven and press the "Start" button to begin the cooking. If the "Start" button is not pressed within 10 minutes after the oven has completed preheat, the oven will automatically shut off. If you have questions about how to operate your unit, you're free to take a look at your Use and Care manual, here: https://files.bbystatic.com/G%2FsVjeWm6TffqBb1XYUx3Q%3D%3D/Manual - We do hope this helps! Best wishes. -Michael@GEA

Burns everything under the bottom

This oven burned everything I cooked in it under the bottom...pizza, cornbread, cake, cookies, even proteins. This one is getting returned. I think it burns everything because the height is too short causing the heating elements to be too close to bottom of the food or pans. I tried baking items on highest level for the rack and my cake & cornbread were still to black/brown under the bottom.

Blast from the past

I grew up with one of these on our family's kitchen countertop for years. Then somewhere along the way we just stopped using it and went with a microwave. I was excited to share a bit of nostalgia with my kids while testing this unit out.
Out of the box the unit is as large as a traditional microwave and basically as heavy. The stainless-steel skin is very pretty and super easy to keep clean. The unit functions superbly and cooks to perfection. Due to limited counter space for me, this piece cannot be a staple but while out we did use it almost every day. I loved just throwing a piece of bread with butter, cinnamon, & sugar in for a few minutes for a sweet (not carb friendly) snack. I also liked that the kids (teens) could throw in a pizza or something instead of using the gas stove while we adults are not home. This lone fact is making my wife and I conversate about what to move to make room for this toaster oven.
Really a great device, that I could see on anyone's counter.

Decent Oven

This GE toaster oven is a fairly decent toaster oven for your kitchen, just a bit inconsistent in the final results.
I like toast. So when I got a six slice toaster I thought I was in heaven. The problem is that if you're toasting six slices at once the slices towards the back are going to end up a bit darker than the rest. For me it's not a deal killer as I can simple toast three at a time. Cooking a frozen pizza yielded better results and is certainly nicer than firing up my stoves oven.
The build quality is excellent as one would expect of a GE product and the looks of the oven fit in well with my kitchen. It doesn't take up an unreasonable amount of countertop space so for now it has a permanent home in my kitchen. Operation is simple enough and I had it up and running without even looking at the manual in no time.

DISAPPOINTING TOASTER OVEN

I am so disappointed in this toaster oven. It doesn't allow you, when you want to bake, to set oven temperature. You have to use only the temperature settings prescribed by the manufacturer--ridiculous. Also, I found it rather difficult to use the knobs to switch from toasting, baking, etc. The manual wasn't any help.

Hi exerciselady47, thanks for taking the time to write a review! Based on page 8 of your Owner's Manual, you are able to adjust the temperature when you are using the Bake, Roast, Broil, or Keep Warm modes. Here is an excerpt from that section: "For ROAST, BAKE, BROIL, and KEEP WARM cooking modes, rotate the lower knob to select the desired oven temperature. To adjust the cooking time, push the lower knob button and then rotate the knob to select the desired cooking time. By default, the convection fan is deactivated for these cooking modes, but it may be manually toggled on using the "Conv." button." - We do appreciate hearing your feedback about using the knobs to switch between cooking modes. We're always looking for ways to improve. We hope that the above information is helpful! If you have other questions, feel free to send us an email or reach out to us on social media. All the best! -Michael@GEA

Toast of the town

This toaster/convection oven does a great job with everything I have tried. Controls are pretty straightforward, I would have preferred multiple knobs rather than push in to change function which reminds me of a car radio.
Toast was evenly toasted on both sides. Perfect toasting.
Eggos were perfect.
I prepared some chicken breasts using convection settings. The breasts were juicy on the inside and just right externally.
Important note: to bypass the preheat you have to hit start twice. Convection time/temp compared to a bake time/temp is based on how you want to approach it. I find convection you can run at 25 degrees cooler than baking rather than adjusting time. YMMV. Remember, convection is basically the same as what you have in a air fryer where there are fans that make the heat circulate. Keep an eye on the food to check it while cooking until you have a good feel for time and temp adjustments.
One thing to be careful with is lining the pan with aluminum foil, make sure it is not touching the inside edges of the oven. The aluminum foil can scratch/damage the inner oven.
This is not cool touch, so it is good they have a child proof option. There is also a silent mode that will keep the alarms from chirping. Another nice add, it will auto shut off if you preheat and start is not hit after the preheat is done. The oven also turns off after the timer is done auto magically.
