Customers have good things to say about the Unitized Spacemaker's size, performance, and capacity, especially its ability to handle larger loads in a compact design. Many appreciate its ease of use and the value for the price. However, some customers note that the unit can be noisy and that the lint trap requires frequent cleaning.

I've had a horrible experience with this unit. First, the dryer door handle snapped clean off after the third time I tried opening the dryer door. I had mentioned to the installer that I noticed the door was a bit difficult to open, but his reply was that it would get easier with use. Then, after having that piece fixed, the dryer unit itself stopped working after using it a total of 3 times. The unit made a loud noise, then stopped working altogether. I am very disappointed, especially because I had purchased this unit after reading the reviews. I would rather exchange this unit for a different brand than have it repaired.

Happy with my purchase

I needed something compact to fit in a closet under a stairwell that had spacing issues. While compact type machines are never going to be as good as stand alone units, these work just fine. I've only had a few days, but no problems whatsoever.
I think those who give poor reviews have a normalcy bias towards larger machines, most likely from never having to use a more compact washer/dryer. As I have lived in a few apartments, I don't see the issues. I can fit a good amount of clothes in the machine, and there are lots of options. For the most part, its pretty quiet...the only exception is when the washer is on spin mode.
Dryer is great as well!
I believe I read a review that says the machine was moving, however I think perhaps that reviewer didn't pull out the bar at the bottom of the machine used during moving. If you forget to remove, the machine will rock badly as it holds the drum in place so to speak to prevent damage while moving.
Overall I'm very satisfied!

I have had this product for under a year. Really great and few problems.Recently the washer will not run unless the dryer is running. Perhaps a disconnect in the wiring? Hoping to get this fixed because besides this problems the washer and dryer work great!

Very loud and Questionable Quality

Bought this unit to replace a current stackable unit that died. Very disappointed with the overall quality of this unit. It's extremely loud and makes all kinds of bizarre noises. The overall quality of this machine is very disappointing. It's very very basic and has no bells/whistles at all. Which I would have expected some at this price point. I was disappointed to see that it didn't even have a separate slot for the detergent, bleach and softener that slides out like other machines. The only positive is that it fits nicely in a small space.

Terrible Dryer Lint Trap Design / No Low Heat
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This dryer has one of the most poorly designed lint traps I've ever seen. Lint doesn't filter out into a trap, it ends up on clothes. The design has lint flowing from the inside of the dryer door where it is supposed to stay behind a filter, but doesn't. It is then supposed to flow down to the bottom of the dryer where it collects behind a slatted area that can't be accessed and cleaned. The dryer door requires wiping down every time I open it up. When I remove the lint trap it flies out all over the place. I have to vacuum around the dryer, the walls, door, and washer every few days. The delicate heat setting has melted several items that according to their instructions can be dried on low heat: waterproof mattress cover and a car seat cover.
The only good thing I can say is that it can fit large loads for such a compact design. If you don't need to use the dryer then you're all set with this combo.

Hello Sarah - thank you for providing a review of your washer and dryer combination unit. We are sorry to hear that the dryer is not drying properly. If the lint is not going into the lint trap but instead all over your clothes, and if the dryer is getting very hot and the door requires wiping down every time it is opened, the venting going to the outside is kink, bent, or clogged. The dryer must be able to blow the moisture outside in order to dry the clothes. The dryer will over heat if the venting is clogged. For safety reasons, it is important not to run the dryer if it is vented improperly. We recommend contacting a vent or ducting cleaning company. We hope this helps! Thanks for choosing GE Appliances and for providing your feedback. NANCYatGEA

GE Spacemaker GUD27ESS out of balance problems

My GE Spacemaker spins out of balance almost every time I use it. Even the smallest load of clothes can cause the spin cycle to go out of balance and makes such a loud banging noise I can't hear myself talk. I have to stop the washer and redistribute the clothes two or three times to get a smooth spin. If a load of clothes is even the slightest bit heavier on one side of the drum, the washer will make so much noise I can't hear the TV in another room. I paid more than $1,400 for a brand new unit six months ago. I am planning to sell it and buy a washer/dryer that I don't have to babysit every time I do a load of wash.

Poor Washing Quality

To be honest, can't understand other user 4 or 5 stars on this washer machine. Simply use a small magnet to keep the door open while the washer does it's work. You'll notice that part or the cloths are not fully wet until 1/3 of the washing cycle and even then, the clothes hardly go from top to bottom revolving with the soap or softener. This may be due the extreme water saving measures it takes. The only way to increase the water volume is when the agitator senses a lot of pressure while moving and serves more water and I'm not sure the clothes should be exposed to this friction.
What other washer machines do is to rotate the drum while serving water, also pulling water to the upper levels while in motion.
In summary, the clothes may or may not be fully washed, or rinse correctly.
So now you know why I disagree with other than 1 star. Is just poorly designed and you can't even see the mess inside.
