Not bad for half the $$ of Hue, not perfect either

It's like debating about the origin of life (except instead of life think "wireless signals" in this case)... e.g. if it came from another planet via asteroid; you still haven't solved the core question, just repositioned it differently. That being said: this Geeni brand (like LIFX, etc.) not needing a Hub is both convenient and less complicated. It feels like as in the analogy above - solved, rather than needing an extra step. I was up and running in under a minute. The app is straight forward and not a hack-job. So far the few I've installed haven't missed a single command, even though it says "the WiFi signal is weak". Flawlessly works with the Echo Dot as well. There are some issues: Geeni claims 1050 lumens, but I think they're telling us a little gray lie of advertising. In normal "Daylight Mode" I can see that being accurate. Really bright for plain white only. However, in a bit of get-what-you-pay-for regarding the "Color Mode"; if they still claim that it's outputting 1050 lumens, I'll quit my electrical engineering career and go live in the wilderness never to return. In other words, no way. The color reproduction is accurate, however maybe half as bright; which I'm afraid is symptomatic of cheaper Smart Bulbs. Although I can't say it's enough to make me regret getting 2 of these bulbs for every 1 of the other brands.

Also in the app, you can Label the bulbs for different rooms if you like. Will be buying more!

However; my wife purchased two of these Geeni Bulbs and gave them to me to try out. I was surprised, that with these Geeni Bulbs, you don't need a Hub to operate, just the Geeni App which I installed on my cell phone. I have to say, I was very impressed with the way they operate, which was just like the Hue Bulbs but without any operating Hub. I also believe that these Geeni Bulbs are a bit cheaper in price over those Philips Bulbs?

I constantly either forget to turn my porch light on or off and it’s usually either when I’m already tucked into bed or away from home that I remember and with the ability to turn on or off the light without physically hitting on or off switch is very convenient I love that I can connect it to my echo dot or google mini for assistance.

Great find for the price

Huge bonus that it did not require a hub for WiFi connectivity. Easy to pair and works great with my echo.

Great Smart Bulb For Beginners

This was very easy to setup via the app and no bridge was needed. The reason I bought this Bulb was that NO bridge was needed and it is compatible with Alexa. I also like the different "scenes" you can use via the app.

The colored light may seem dull because of the shade it needs to produce a certain color. This shade refracts a certain percentage of light. The connection and setup was super easy and quick and the app is extremely user friendly. I love that you can dim the white light and setting scenes with the different colors & shades available. I also get up at 4:30am everyday and set the one in my bedroom to automatically come on at 4:45 to prevent me from hitting snooze too often. And the ability to turn my living room light on from my bedroom from my phone is great when you don't want to maneuver through dark rooms. I will definitely be purchasing more for the rest of my rooms!

Great starter bulb.

Low price, simple setup on the app as well as integration with Google Home, Alexa untested. On the downside, it is not very bright at all. No other issues so far.
