This was the world computer I have ever seen. I bought this for myself figuring that it would be great from the reviews. The product seems good when it arrived. I opened it and followed all of the instructions. The worst part of the whole thing was the amount of lag I experienced.

I’m seriously so disappointed, this was a huge gift for Christmas from the big guy and the day my daughter uses it, there is a huge screen glitch that fried the entire computer, now I have an 8 year old wondering why Santa’s present isn’t working.

First of all, I want to clarify that I received this product as part of the Tech Insider Network - this is a program where we receive products at no charge and provide fair and honest reviews here on bestbuy.com. I don't normally say that up front because it does have the little icon next to my name on every review. But I wanted to say it to make sure this review seems fair and balanced, because I really liked the Geobook especially for particular use cases with kids.
Key Points:
1) The Geobook 120 is one of the least expensive Windows/x86 laptops you can buy. For the price, you get an Intel Celeron CPU (with the upgraded GPU from newer generation CPUs, a key factor here) as well as 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. Those specs are all in line with other laptops at this end of the market, and a little higher priced than a similarly specced Chromebook.I did notice the CPU chugged quite a bit after initial setup, mainly due to windows updates and OneDrive syncing. This lasted about 30 minutes to an hour before it got to a more normal state with idle consumption. So if you notice it's a little slow when you first set it up, I would not be concerned.
2) The styling and fit and finish of the Geobook 120 are very good especially for the price. The sky blue color of my review sample is great. My twins love it. Nothing feels cheaply made as far as the materials, keyboard, and touchpad go.
3) The Geobook ships with a barrel tip 12V power supply, but it has USB-C which works with standard USB-C chargers. I can't say whether it charges faster or slower with either charging port, but it works perfectly fine with 3 different USB-C laptop chargers I've tried. I think this is great for easy compatibility with everything else in my house.
4) Back to point 1 - the Intel N4000 series chips support hardware decoding of HEVC/h265 video, and this is awesome for my house. Most of the videos on my home plex server are encoded in h265, so this Geobook can play them without any issues or forcing the server to do the hard work.
5) The biggest knock I have against the Geobook is the quality of the display. It is a TN panel with very, very limited viewing angles and extremely cool/blue color temperature. Enabling Windows Night Light did help with the color a bit, but it's hard to get this thing to look great. My twins (who are the primary users) didn't seem to mind as much as I did, but even for them it meant they couldn't really share the screen like they can with their higher end chromebook - the viewing angles drop off that much when you are even slightly off axis.
My review sample also had a bad/bright pixel but I'm confident as a 'normal' buyer that if you had a similar problem fresh out of the box, you would be able to get a replacement very easily through Best Buy or Geo.
Where I think this product makes a lot of sense is for a family in a school district which requires a Windows powered PC. Last year I helped some local families prepare their computers and home networks for virtual school and found that one of the nearby counties requires Windows for their online classroom platform. The school system my twins go to doesn't require windows, but they are heavily embedded with MS 365/Teams so the school computers all use Windows and having the MS 365 included with the Geobook is a decent add on here.
So for playing browser based games or watching videos, this Geobook 120 is great if your kids aren't picky about the display.

Don't waste your time. The laptop I got didn't recognize the battery. I contacted support, which was slow to respond only to refer me to Best Buy. BB replaced it, and the second laptop does the exact same thing. Don't purchase this pile of parts.

Cheap and now useless. 1st unit- screen didn’t display colors- returned for 2nd unit- doesn’t even power on. Ugh!! Can’t return due to being outside time frame. Best aspect of this was the free stickers.

I bought this for my 9 year old grandson. If you buy this computer only buy a one year warranty. I bout a 2 year it only lasted 3 months. Thank God I had a warranty! They won’t repair… just replace. It’s a waste of money. But a better one.

Inexpensive Kids Laptop

My elementary child put this laptop through its paces. She already had a microsoft account, so I let her do her own thing and only had to approve a few things or help out, like redeeming the 1 year Microsoft 365 Personal offer. She was ecstatic to have another device to play Minecraft on. This was her first "regular" laptop so it was kind of funny how she said it was tough getting used to it. She would try to touch the screen when she could not do what she wanted quickly with the touchpad. This was good practice to work with different devices. Also gave her a small mouse for this so she could get more practice with using one more.
The processor is low end, and takes a bit to get programs or even the browser going. The delay is noticeable compared to an i5 or i7 cpu laptop of 3 to 5 years ago, but the performance is fine for the price.
The display is not full HD, but a step below, and video looks fine on the small display.
The data storage is kind of small and slower eMMC style, but working out well so far as she uses it online or in the cloud so much.
For kids I see this as a good introduction to a windows computer, especially if they have only used chromebooks for schools, or not much computer use at all, and mostly touchscreens or game controllers otherwise. My kid still uses an xbox controller for minecraft, but has started using mouse and keyboard for other games, helping her get used to that way of interacting with a computer even faster.
