Beastly board for a monster system

I was an ROG fan, glad I made the switch to the Gigabyte camp. This is a great board to overclock in. This is not for those who want to do SLI or Crossfire as it only has one PCIE x16 lane. Also, rumor has it DDR4 is still faster within its hardware groups than the DDR5 recently released. I personally have enjoyed the 32GB 6000Mhz XPG DDR5 I finally settled on. I dropped a i9 12900KF CPU in this board and hit 5.4Ghz stable for daily running underwater for all 24 cores. Putting a 7,400MBps GAMMIX M.2 SSD @ 1TB as the boot drive, then two M.2 2TB GAMMIX drives under the heat sinks on the board provided plenty of fast storage to work with large video files in Premier Pro. Pairing this system with an EVGA RTX 3080 Ti XC3 Hydro-copper as the final choice GPU (not shown), I was able to render a 21 minute, 4k, HDR video, in H265, in under 17 minutes. If you are not pushing this board or the hardware on it - then go get something else. This board begs you to overclock, push it, and see how far it can go.

Excellent motherboard that is feature packed. Vrm and pch temps are nice and cool, never go above 55c. Was going to go with asus but they have really high pch temps. Zero regrets. Running my 12900k and 5600mhz ram with no issues.

This is a great motherboard with all of the features you could want. I really like the fact that there are 5 different M.2 slots, which is more than most other boards. It has a huge number of USB ports on the back. The build quality also seems quite good, it's a sturdy, heavy board. There are a few cons though. The board wouldn't post right out of the box. The BIOS had to be flashed in order to get the board working, but that process was also difficult. I had to send the board back and get a new one because I couldn't get my original one to flash. The Q-flash process appears to be quite finicky. To make sure it works, be sure to use a small (16GB or smaller) USB 2.0 flash drive formatted to FAT32. I tried 3 different USB drives and none of them worked for flashing. I had to dig out my oldest, smallest flash drive before the board would recognize it for flashing. Also note that there are some very large heat spreaders covering the M.2 slots. I managed to fit a large Noctua CPU cooler and a 3080 Ti on my board, and they fit with less than an inch between them, but the GPU covers the top of the bottom heat spreader. The only way to get to any of the M.2 slots now will be to remove the GPU, and that's going to be a huge pain because the release latch on its PCIe slot is covered by a heat spreader. I haven't tried, but it looks like maybe I can stick a long screwdriver between the CPU cooler and the top of the GPU to hit the latch. Hopefully it works, but either way, it'll be a pain. Also, I haven't been able to get the wifi to work. Windows keeps saying the wifi module has encountered an error and can't start. It's not a big deal for me since my PC will stay hardwired, but just thought I'd note that at least.

Some quirks but has been stable on newest BIOS. Everything went pretty smooth getting W11 going but I did have an issue with the Aquantia LAN going to sleep every couple minutes and dropping connection. The fix was to turn off the power saving feature of the LAN in device manager > properties. Seems to be stable now.

I bought this mother board and had 2 g skill ram stick at 6000mhz. When i tried to boot it up nothing would pop up so i had to use the q flash to update the bios with a flashdrive. I wish it came with the bios that supported 6000mhz ram right out the box. After the bios update, it booted up. So if you have a ram thats more than 5600mhz, make sure to upgrade the bios. Search up q flash bios upgrade and videos should pop up.

Expensive but is built like a tank with high quality parts at ever turn. Had to update bios to get my nvme drives to appear but I knew to expect that from forum posts. Has been rock solid and I would recommend it. Standout features to me are the 8 layer pcb, high quality audio, great VRMs, high quality heatsinks, 10gbit lan, and wifi 6e. Metal backplate also makes the entire board very rigid and solid feeling. At this price point or even slightly above it I don't think there's a better value.

Random safe mode, downloading causes network death

Shocking motherboard, had a lot of issues with safe mode boots, but default settings were never changed. So it just randomly decided to crap out and start working again. Whenever Steam tried to download a game the entire network of the machine would die, I assume it couldn't handle high network speeds. I swapped to an ASUS ROG with the same components and don't have any of these problems. I had even tried a PCI-E add in card for 10GB ethernet, still the same issue. The gigabyte software and update tools are also awful, horrible UI, poorly built, do a bunch of weird unexpected things from a UX perspective. I'll be returning this board as faulty as it does so many weird things.

This item was DOA (I ordered online) and I am returning it to the store in town. This was my first Gigabyte purchase and I am not impressed. I can only hope that the video card I got from them isn't DOA either. But I wont know until my replacement MB (from a different manufacturer) comes in.

    Fantastic Board

For alder lake, This is the best value you can get. I had multiple boards that got returned, this is the one I chose, after the build is complete and I am typing this on it happy to say, no regrets. This is the first non Asus board I've built in 15+ years. they have gone insane, the z690 e doesn't even have solid pins and costs the same. MSI carbon doesn't have a backplate and has weaker performance. the only board that performs slightly better is the hero for $150 dollars more. This board is the no brainer choice for a ddr5 alder lake build. XMP'd memory to 5200 without a problem. Had to update bios (to v5) to get it to recognize m.2 as mine had an old version (shipped with bios v2) , newer versions shouldn't have this problem but I got it on release. With how gigabyte have been doing in their other departments (power supplies) it was hard to trust them again. Glad to report that the team responsible for motherboards over at gigabyte are doing a good job.
