Much friendlier design compared to the old Nomad 13.5 panels. It has two larger solar panels versus the old one having four smaller panels. Therefore, it doesn't fold-up as small, but is a better size when being used. Also, the connections are housed in a mesh zippered compartment on the back side of the panel, rather that a small velcro-sealed compartment on the same side as the solar panels, making it a more user-friendly design. It now utilizes Goal Zero's 8.0mm plug to make it compatible with more of their items without using an adapter plug. The USB output has been upgraded to a full amp, versus the old ones with .5 amps. A nice improvement to a great item. Mono-crystaline cells are the best out there, and Goal Zero does it better than their competition. Just make sure you understand solar power before you jump in, or you could be disappointed.

I previously purchase the goal solar nomad 7 guide 10 adventure kit. I enjoyed the use I had gotten out of it until I upgraded my electronic devices. Which the solar panel and guide 10 kit was not compatible with. But I am happy with the nomad 13. It fully charges my iphone 5 in about 2 hrs in pure sunlight. It also charges my ipad 3rd generation, but I do not know how long it will take to charge the ipad. I have used the nomad 13 several times already within the 2 weeks I have recieved it. When I'm waiting in my car, I don't have to use my car battery to charge my phone. I just put the solar panel on the dash board or roof of my car as I wait. I never have to worry about my phone dying anymore. Best buy had the best price on the internet, thanks!
