Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters does precisely what it sets out to do, delivering an Americanized version of Godzilla that feels right at home with the original Toho franchise. Full of catastrophic spectacle, mesmerizing visuals and mindless monster-fighting fun, the sequel should satisfy kaiju action fans while delighting loyal Godzilla followers. The Titans reign supreme on 4K Ultra HD with a gorgeous Dolby Vision HDR presentation that dramatically improves on its Blu-ray counterpart while stomping into home theaters with an exceptional, reference-quality Dolby Atmos soundtrack. Sharing the same set of supplements as the day-and-date Blu-ray, the UHD package is highly recommended.

This is the best Godzilla movie ever. I saw this 5 times while it was in theaters. They made Godzilla, Rodan, King Ghidorah, & Mothra look amazing they also gave the monsters a lot more screen time then Godzilla 2014. The Steelbook art is great to you get Godzilla on the front Ghidorah on the back & Rodan & Mothra on the inside.

The crypto-zoological agency Monarch faces off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the sequel to Godzilla (2014) and is satisfying enough to be considered a Godzilla movie but doesn't live up to its predecessor. The story was awful, plot was weak, people were stupid and made meaningless decisions. To give credit where credit is due, King of the Monster nails the VFX and the over the top battles make up for some of the above listed short-comings. And even with a bad screenplay the actors do a good enough job to be entertaining when they need to be. It is ultimately a fun movie with great visual and sound effects.

The third movie in the Monsterverse following Godzilla (2014) and Kong: Skull Island is a non-stop, action packed, thrill ride. The movie does get messy plot-wise and action-wise near the end, but it was an improvement over Godzilla (2014) which was severely lacking in on-screen Godzilla time. Turn off your brain for a couple hours and have fun watching Godzilla related mayhem. The Blu-ray A/V quality is great and there is a good amount of bonus features including a very informative and entertaining audio commentary. I bought this movie without seeing it before, and I was not disappointed!

While Godzilla: King of the Monsters is a divisive film, I count myself among its fans (just don't take radiation as the savior of nature too seriously kids). It's a bombastic film with Godzilla firmly in the driver's seat as the big star as he should be. The human cast is more interesting to watch than Ford Brody in Godzilla 2014, and the film looks amazing. Doesn't hurt to have some decent special features, a digital copy, and a cool Steelbook presentation. I'd have somehow given this six stars if the Steelbook art we got was one of the other two released instead... but this one does the trick.

This is a great movie, my grandkids loved it. What made it even better is that we were able to watch it in 3d thanks to BBs foresight in stocking this format. It really is a shame that the industry has ko'd the format (at least in the US, international region free versions are still available for many new movies online). I know it's a niche market but other 3d releases would be appreciated.

This movie is packed with monster action and amazing cinematography. An underated movie of this summer but still is awesome. The Blu-ray has great picture and excellent color. The 4k has even more superb picture quality and I say even superior than the Blu-ray. My steel book copy came in and it had no damage to the case. I love the art work that comes in Godzilla in the front, Ghidorah in the back, Rodan and mothra in the inside. Overall this steel book is a must have for any Godzilla fan or casual viewer who enjoys monster movies and loves these types of movies.

Godzilla king of monsters is a great return to form for the world's greatest Kaiju. Don't expect a lot of effort put into the plot, in fact some of the dialogue is even pretty cringey but what most people come to these types of movies for are the action and special effects which are delivered in spades. There's even a nice little hint thrown in for the next Kaiju movie Godzilla versus King Kong. Only real disappointment was the underutilization of Millie Bobby Brown in her role, other than that I was highly satisfied with this movie and can't wait to watch it again.

I thought this movie had some good special effects. One of which was really good for Godzilla, but I won't spoil it here. I don't recall anything looking fake or cheesy, which was nice. I gave this movie 4 stars for special effects. I did not give it 5 stars because I felt the movie could have had better character development and story. Those things were not bad, they could have been a bit better. It was cool having other monsters in the story, but only a few had any real action. Some of the lesser known monsters could have been shown more with more back story. See this movie with a sense of fun, and don't take it too seriously. Even better watching it with some kids, and some good snacks!

I really enjoyed Godzilla when it was rebooted in 2014 and was excited at the prospect of an expanded universe with King Kong. This film is all about the Monster Vs. Monster action which us what you sign up for when you watch this. Godzilla Vs. the other Titan monsters is an action spectacle to behold with Human characters taking a back seat to the battles that rage on screen. I can't wait for the future Godzilla Vs. King Kong film to come out. I overall grade this film a B as what the film lacks in story it makes up in action 100%.

If your a Godzilla fan. This updated and new look on Godzilla maybe not for you. IMHO it’s not the best, but I throughly enjoyed watching the movie. Entertaining and full of nostalgia as they bring iconic versions of Godzilla’s foes up to date. The human characters in the movie, IMO is just background noise and not really needed to tell the story. But a way to ground the movie to the impact of these creatures to people. If your a diehard fan of Godzilla and really nitpick of everything. This maybe not the movie for you.

When this movie hit theaters, most of the complaints stemmed from the "human" plot elements being paper thin and overly fantastical. There's really no denying that. But the real question is, how do the monsters look, and does Godzilla actually get a decent amount of screen time for this sequel? And the answer to that is that both elements have been improved, from greater creature design to some amazing kaiju fight scenes, this film seemed geared at giving the fans what they actually wanted (monsters brawling) without pushing a heavy handed plot about the plight of humanity. Godzilla King of the Monsters is the modern Godzilla film I had been wanting for years.

Nothing will ever compare to Zilla 1999 in terms of horrible movies, but 2014 did not exactly focus on what the people really wanted, Godzilla. Godzilla itself did not have but 15 minutes of screen time and the movie itself focused on a set of humans. KoTM definitely added a good balance of monster fights and interweaving narrative from the human side. It was a huge improvement from Godzilla 2014, KoTM still has some elements to iron out, but over all the movie was very enjoyable. The monster fights could have be extended, but I was very satisfied with what I got. I am glad to see that Legendary took the fan feedback and did something with it.

Way better than the first one in my opinion, the graphics are spectacular. The Kaijus look superb, very noticeable details such as scales. The action is awesome. There was a perfect balance between monsters and human interactions. Some cheesey dialogue here and there but that's because every movie needs to be a comedy now for some reason. Overall a must buy for Toho fans or just monster movie fans. Also the steel itself is beautiful with Godzilla on one side and Ghidorah in the other. Very vibrant popping colors.

I liked this movie alot. It gave everyone that had complaints with the 2014 movie what they wanted. More Godzilla. Human characters take a back seat and that's fine yet those people that complained about the lack of Godzilla and too much human character screen time in the 2014 movie are now complaining about the lack of human character screen time. Can't win. Either way it's entertaining as hell. My thing is and I know I'm in the minority here but I enjoyed and loved the first one more. The lack of Godzilla throughout payed off in the third act. But anyway I recommend this for anyone that just wants to be entertained.

How can anyone not like Godzilla and all the classic monsters Rodan, Mothra, and of course Ghidora and all the other ones as well. There is plenty of action and destruction and the special effects are awesome. The story picks up from the last movie and is a throwback to the classic movies of yesteryear. I thought the movie was fun and exciting, and if you are a fan of Godzilla, I think you will enjoy it too. I bought it about one month ago and have watched it twice already. Buy and enjoy!

My husband loved Godzilla since he was a kid and we've seen them all. My nephew enjoyed watching the old movies with us. Unfortunately my husband didn't live to see this movie released but we watched it thinking of him. The story is a little weak but you don't watch Godzilla for the story, you want to see monsters in action. King Ghidorah is amazing. Godzilla could have used more screen time and I personally would like to see more Mothra. Most of the monsters aren't even named so we can only hope more movies and more monsters. Modern technology really makes these creatures come to life.

The movie has a good story line to it. The special effects are amazing. If you have a 4K Blu-ray player that can handle HDR10+ (only a handful of players can) the colors, clear details & realism is amazing and by far the best for 4K! It’s the first HDR10+ disc to hit the market. Put all that aside all true Godzilla fans will truly enjoy this modern adaptation of a classic beloved character.

As always the service of best buy is spot on, when I picked up my steelbook it was in perfect condition and well kept. Now, on to the movie, the 4K was phenom and a major upgrade to the blu-ray. The film itself was fantastic, the acting was solid, the cinematography was beautifully shot...my only complaint is I was hoping for more on screen RODAN and MOTHRA. All in all, I love this film. I love it so much I actually double dipped and bought the 3d/Bluray edition as well. Recommended.

If you have seen any of the old Japanese “actors in rubber suits” versions of these stories, this is a fun retelling with contemporary special effects. Millie Bobby Brown really doesn’t have the screen presence here that she has in Stranger Things, but all of the cast is really secondary to the creatures. Some reviews note that Kong is off screen, but that’s because Godzilla vs Kong is the next entry in this series. 3D is quite sharp and not overdone, sound is top notch. Dear Best Buy: The previous entry, Kong Skull Island, included the 3D & 4K versions - this package should also have had 4K
