Simple Review: For what it does and how much it costs I personally wouldn't recommend this product. Extended Review: Unboxing this little guy gets straight to the point. The camera up front with the necessary cable to charge it. Google's presentation is always simple but done in a beautiful way. Past that we get to performance and this is the hard part. Google only promises 3 hours of battery life which if your going to out this on I'd assume it would be nice to have at least 8 hours....you know a full days usage. I felt like it died closer to the 2 hour mark which if I use it for a party or something that only lasts two hours than maybe. The pictures/videos were just okay quality. My phone can do better of course but not only that for some reason they didn't do a wider angle lens to get more in the shot. Just a thought for the next iteration. To wrap up it's a fun idea and I'm sure it's going to be a great product in the future. As it sits now it's not ready for the lime life.

The whole idea of Google Clips is it's an AI-enabled camera that learns to take good photos. It also learns family and friends. After a few days I'm still yet to be convinced. Google Clips can also take short video-style photos. It also comes with a clip so you can wear it on your shirt or kind-of stand it up. Photo quality is very good. Video quality is really mixed. If the camera is in a fixed location (on a table, desk, etc) it's great, but if you're wearing it - there seems to be no stabilization at all and it's just unusable. You can pull out a frame from the video and keep it as a photo... but that kind of defeats the purpose of the video. It's definitely not a body video camera unless you're into motion sickness. The camera charges by USB C which at least makes for fast charging. I think the Clips camera is better suited to families with young kids (3 years and under). If you were playing with your kids on the floor, it would be nice to have something just take photos without you having to get distracted by your phone. I'd love to update this review in a few months after I have used this some more, as testing this on vacation might make me feel differently.

Not really a 'Best Buy'. Even at half price, this device fails to truly capture the big/missed moments that it claims to capture. The algorithm needs to be worked on a bit more and improved for version 2. It doesn't quite know what it wants to be yet. A portable device to capture moments you may miss due to not picking up your camera or phone camera on time to take the shot, or to be stagnant in a single spot to capture moments in that specific area? Which is it? I feel like it's mean to be set in place, but in order to really capture the moments, you'd need multiple ones, and at this price point it's kind of costly. You can set up one at the kitchen table, one in a family/living/dining room, on in the garage maybe? I don't think this is meant to be a security camera but more for capturing moments. Being able to upload pictures with unlimited storage via Google Pixel is nice, if it was maybe multifunctioned as a stand-alone camera that you could take pictures with.

I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 Perx. I thought since I had a Samsung Galaxy "7" and Nougat 7.0 that this would work with my phone, since all specs were the same as the S7, except for the gigs of storage space (16 vs 32 gigs). I was able to download the app, sync the camera and everything looked as if it was going to work with the app. I could see what the camera was going to video on the live preview. I even pressed the shutter button to capture a video, but was unable to view it on my phone. It kept saying I did not have enough storage and to free up space on my phone (I have a 64 gig SD card with nothing on it, in my phone, and hoped that this would work, but it didn't). I have 3 gigs free on my phone and sent an email to Google Clip to find out what the problem was. No response as yet. I really love the idea, size and portability, hence the 3 stars. I am hoping for an update to correct this or an answer soon. ,

This camera is light and easy to carry anywhere with the clip built into the case cover. It charges very quick and works great with the latest Android or iOS operating systems. Turning on or off is as easy as twisting the camera lens. It can learn faces and record those dear to you more often. This is a great memory recorder if you have young kids or animals to make photos and videos of. The phone application is easy to use, store recordings and delete files. It is a much easier alternative to using your phone to take pictures and videos. The quality of recordings is very good and young and old can use with ease.

    A Disappointment

The biggest value for Google Clips, I imagine, would be actually catching some special moments, such as a baby's first steps or similar accomplishments. Assuming it is capturing what you want, the battery is still working, and you have it positioned well to actually get the shot, you might get some real gems. To those points, I found that the battery life was less than three hours. Considering how quickly the camera app in my cell phoen will launch, I'm not missing many moments I want to capture anyway, but with Google Clips, it is very likeyl that you will miss a moment due to the battery being fully discharged. I also found it hard to position the camera if I wanted anything other than a straight-on shot. Finally, Google Clips doesn't record any audio. This, along with the battery life, are the biggest detractors from the value of this device. If there is an amazing life moment that I want to capture, why wouldn't I want the audio? I can always delete it later. Overall, I was very disappointed in this product. It is an interesting idea, but between the performance I saw, as well as privacy concerns, I can't recommend this product. If you need something constantly recording, look into security cameras.

Google Clips is an awesome camera for the family. It is easy to use and captures amazing photos and video snippets that can be cherished forever. Just place the camera in a desired location and be amazed at the images from your activities with the family. The video quality is great. I use the clips in my video editing projects and they work perfectly. Photos are bright and vivid. The motion photos are really cool. You can even share them with your friends and family. I would highly recommend.

Google clips is a nice idea, I guess? I was provided this camera free to review. You can find the specs pretty much anywhere and get pretty good idea how it works, so I thought I would just provide my opinion on how I used it in real life. So far I have used it at a party we had for a family member. I simply set it in a corner and turned it on. It took a whole bunch of short video files that I could review on my Note 8 through the Google Clips app. Most of the pictures were pretty boring shots of people hanging out and most of them quite frankly looked the same. I then used it at an outdoor graduation party and had pretty much the same results. However it did capture some of the kids playing at times I missed. Perhaps as it learns more faces through the built in AI it would do a better job. Here is the rub. When set up at the family party, the wife and other family members were not super comfortable knowing this little camera was taking random shots of them. I think this may be a generational thing, as the kids at the grad party didn't seem to mind. You could use this for any type of event, but realize you have about 2-3 hours battery life. Some pics will look a little distorted due to the fish eye lens. However i will say the quality is pretty good in general. The app I figured out pretty fast and was easy to set up. I like the Live preview for setting the shots. The rubberized clip that comes with the camera helps a little, but would be nice if it allowed you to angle the camera in more ways. Bottom line there is no way I personally would never pay $250 for this camera (outrageous price Google). I simply get better pics using the camera on my phone. Maybe I am missing something here, or I am too old, but I just don't see myself pulling this out too often to use.

I eagerly opened and unpackaged my Clips camera only to be disappointed. Upon visiting the Google Play store to unload the app, a message appeared that said, “Your device isn’t compatible with this version!” I have a Motorola G Plus (5th Generation) smart phone. Suffice to say, this message piqued my curiosity as such, I went to g.co/clips/help to find out what devices are compatible for Androids and IOS users and they are the following: Android Google Clips™ currently supports the following Android devices running Android 7.0 Nougat and above: • Pixel and Pixel XL • Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL • Samsung Galaxy S7 • Samsung Galaxy S8 iOS Google Clips currently supports the following iOS devices running iOS 11 and above: • iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus • iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus • iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus • iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus • iPhone X As an Android user, this information was very disappointing and baffling. I cannot understand why Google as a technology giant would design a device that is limited to users. Everyone doesn’t have Pixel, Samsung or Apple phones! In most cases all devices with both IOS and Android are supported. I hope Google correct this problem and so that this device will be supported across all Android and IOS platforms.

Testing this out my expectations were a bit higher than the outcome. In theory this is great and can honestly be a great item to have but there are a few issues. It takes great still shots from recordings as well as decent video but your subjects have to in the area where the camera is installed if you hope to get great footage of them. No sound so don’t expect that but sometimes the camera picture quality will surprise you. Definitelt worth at least trying out if you to catch moments spontaneously.

Google Clips is supposed to be a standalone camera that provides you with the ability to catch "candid moments". I not sure who greenlighted this project, but trying to find a good use case for this device was difficult. I used it during a birthday party and it captured quite a few photos and movies (without audio). Although it has a wide field of view, often the pictures were motion blurred, distorted and not really of much use. The device is simple enough and is rechargeable via a USB port. The camera essentially creates an adhoc wireless network that your mobile device connects to for downloading pics/gifs taken. If you have a VPN running on your mobile device the camera will not work. You can also take manual snapshots with the camera, I really had a hard time figuring out what to do with this. I guess the intended purpose is to just let this camera snap away and you can decide later if anything was useful, I found less than 20% of the pics were of any use, so it you look at it from the pick and choose perspective then this is an OK device. Often I would write a more in depth review, however there is not much to review or recommend for Google Clips.

This little device gathers clips so you can be in the action vs behind the camera. The issue is to really get the effect you would need a set of 3-5 of them so they could get all angles and pull it into an app and then you would have something. With just this you have to set it down in the right spot. Indoors and it is grainy. Finally when your subjects move you need to move it again.

This is super simply, and easy to use. No internet connection is needed. However, the only issue I see is the price. It might be hard for a lot of people to swallow this pill, but it is super cool. Just leave it anywhere you want, it will do the rest. I wish it had at least 256GB of memory though...16GB is not really enough to warrant the pricetag.

This camera has great video quality and is fun to use, but I can not justify the price. At the price I can get another camera that is the same size can do the same thing and more. I will keep using this camera because it is a lot of fun, but there are better options out there.

The Google - Clips - White arrived needing charging before I could attempt any type of setup with my phone an LGL62VL. After charging, I went to the Google browser and typed as instructed g,co/clips/app. My phone immediately went to the Google Play store Google Clip download page, but it stated that “Your device isn’t compatible with this version.” My phone has Android version 5.1.1 and will not work with Google Clips. So I cannot give any positive feedback on the Google Clips photo device.

The google clip is a very portable camera weighing less than a pound. Set up is quick. It requires you to download an app to access and view what it records. The way it works is you turn it on and records short intervals of video.. or manually take snapshots. It detects motion and recognize faces which triggers it to record, Battery life however seems to be short because it is constantly on if you want to capture those "moments". Video quality is excellent.

It works, but it requires to much to get it to work and to retrieve the video. It’s motion activated but by the time it turns on to record you probably miss it. I think they should add a record button that way you can control it.
