We have tried a few security cameras in the past but we had network connection issues, poor quality, and installation issues. The Nest camera took care of all those issues and more. Easy installation, setup and operation; we have never lost connection, the picture quality is great, and the app is very useful.

So these work great, what I find annoying is the complaints due to the price of the aware service. Does anyone do research before you buy? Or do you just buy things and then write negative reviews because you didn't do your research.....get a clue people, they aren't hiding the subscription service for cloud storage.....with that said they work wonderfully. If you are a CCTV expert or have access to a multi thousand dollar system go for it. If not these are a great way to go for your average homeowner. I would have loved for the power cord to be a smaller diameter but it is what it is. Mounting is easy hooking them up is easy and getting them up and running is as easy as 123. Picture is great and the interface on the app is great. I would have loved to be able to set zones from the app but maybe in future updates. Anyway for the price you can't beat them AND IF YOU DONT WANT TO PAY THE MONTHLY SERVICE FOR STORAGE DONT BUY THEM.......DUH.

I wanted something for my backyard and pool area but the previous 2 cameras I installed in the backyard were not very clear. I got the opportunity to get this one during Black Friday and I couldn’t turn it down. Super easy to install and the video is super clear, even the zoom! Great outdoor camera

Cameras have wide angle and very clear picture. To avoid unnecessary notifications you can set up zones and specifications to really target situations you need notifications for. Older cameras would notify for every car driving by. Not anymore. Just set it up to let you know someone is on porch or next to the gate, for example. You don’t always need to know someone is walking on the sidewalk. Easy to use. Can watch video on TV. Way cool. Drawback is you have to plug them in - but then you don’t need to climb up to change batteries either.

I needed to purchase this two-pack to cover both my driveway and front yard. The cams provide really sharp images and sound recording. Luckily I was able to adjust the sound sensitivity on each cam so I was not accidentally hearing my next door neighnor's conversations while in their driveway. The night vision is really good. Installation was easy, although I did need a WiFi mesh extender placed in my garage to extend the signal to the cams. The Nest app on my cellphone and interface on my computer make this product easy to use day and night.

I have bought very cheap to $2,000 cameras for office and home. These cameras are amazing and offer features my 8-10k camera systems did not offer. Great sound quality and the cameras recoginize your habits. It will notify you if changes in routines or just the typical motion detection.

So I've only had the camera for a few days now and I'm already on the verge of returning it. I install the camera outside my garage, run a dedicated outlet for it in my attic, and get it online within about an hours time out of the box. The camera is easy to set up and everything needed to install it and secure the cable is included. I connect it to my network and I like the video as it was crisp and clear like 1080 should be. The problem is about 12 hours after getting it online I get a notification that my camera is offline. I cycle power to it and the camera comes back online after about 10 minutes. Everything is good for a few hours until I get another notification that the camera is offline again. So I start thinking the location I've chosen for the camera has a weak Wifi signal although my cell phone indicates a full signal at that location. So I decided to bring a WIfi extender into the equation and put the extender basically right next to the Nest camera but it will not connect to Wifi at all now. I've tried restarting my router and power cycling the camera at the same time but no help. I tried deleting the camera from my account since there is no factory reset button on the camera itself, restarting the router, and deleting the app/reinstalling it but it will not connect to Wifi at all now. I keep getting error code C224. I read through Nest support articles and tried what they suggested for using an Android device getting this particular error during setup and nothing has helped. Maybe if I reset the camera, delete the app, reinstall the app, and restart my router for the 17th time it will connect? The thing is I have 50 plus smart devices on my network with 300 Mbps internet speed and nothing else I own is having an issue. Maybe if I could get the camera back online and it continued to periodically drop offline then maybe I could chalk it up to a bandwidth issue with all of my other devices but it won't even connect. This is a camera problem I believe, unless Nest or someone has a suggestion I'm going to pull the camera down and return it.

I first bought the ring outdoor cam completely garbage terrible video quality always grainy and only 720p was way less than that for sure returned got the nest crystal clear video and audio great night vision as well ring didn't even work at all only reason I'm not giving five stars two reason you have to pay monthly for the video cloud storage service 10$ month for 10 days saved or 30$ for the month which is completely bs in my opinion second the camera goes offline once or twice a day for 10 min don't know why but it's done it since the day I bought it other than that I'm very happy with it also if you don't have a strong internet connection you better plan on getting one cause that how the camera work the lower the speed the lower the video quality

I bought this as a supplement for my nest cam indoor and it is great! Easy to setup, clear picture and weatherproof! Also, nest support is very responsive and helpful and its a plus for me! I just hope the cloud recording is lowered as its expensive compared to the others.

    Better than Arlo

I previously used arlo wireless cameras. After the constant headache of changing and recharging batteries, coupled with false alarms...I switched. Nest is way better because there is no DELAY that cause you to miss action. It was a breeze to install after drilling a hole through my brick wall and running the cord to the outlet. The app allows me to sync my nest thermostat, doorbell, and nest protect.. and I can use my Google home and chromecast to show me what the camera see. I love this camera as it tell me when it see motion or people. You can't go wrong if you can use wired cameras.

Works well with fast Wi-Fi and a good signal. I'm giving it 4 stars because you really need cutting edge Wi-Fi speed to stream the 1080p image And the signal must be very strong. That and the subscription. But, since it is a subscription based service, the apps are up to date and work really well so that's a good thing I guess.

I'll make this easy it is a awesome camera and better than other battery powered cameras... No not because you have to change batteries on those cameras, but because you can stream 24/7 on the Nest cameras. My only reason why I cant give it 5 stars is because the membership (subscription) for the Nest cameras is cheap but when you have to pay for a subscription per camera it gets a little crazy although Nest discounts the membership 50% for the rest of your cameras. My Verdict- Great camera and usability! Just know there are better subscriptions out there or even no subscription fee cameras, but it won't be up to the quality of the Nest outdoor camera!!!

    Great For Home Monitoring

Have had this camera installed for well over a year now with minimal issues. Night vision is great, day quality is good, and viewing the footage via iOS app is pretty fast and smooth. At 25ft from the road, the image quality is good enough to identify a car or person, but not good enough to catch a license plate. The motion and person detection is actually really good, improved by the image based geo fencing feature. Will occasionally drop the feed for 30-60 minutes, but is infrequent enough to not be a major bother. Any other issues are quickly rectified by unplugging the cam for a few minutes. Overall a great device for the price and would purchase again.

Pretty fun outdoor camera. I use mine at the front door. Set up is kind of a pain but only because getting the right angle to see as much as you can takes time and patience. Advice when you set up, split your router. - Create a second channel, 2.4hz vs the 5hz. (Ask your internet provider on how to do this if you're a novice like me) I had difficulty getting a signal/live feed and once I created the 2.4hz and reconnected, I haven't had any difficulty viewing a live feed. I gave 4 out of 5 because they don't tell you this until after you buy it, but you have to pay for recorded history. If you don't pay, you only get 3 hours worth of memory. But to get 10 days worth of history, it's really not that much money a year and then 30 days is just 3x as much as the 10 day. So not terrible but I wish I would have known that before I purchased this device. It is pretty cool that its all seemless in the nest app, I have the nest thermostat and this camera and is easy to view live images and switch to the nest thermostat

You don't have to be an expert to install these cameras. They connect to your wifi so you basically plug and go. We installed six and could customize the name of the location. Better than other brands that you would have to replace batteries

This is not a $1000 camera, but for the money I would put this up against any camera out there. It takes 5 minutes to set it up and you're done. You can have e-mail alearts sent to your text or email in a flash. It has a record feature and can be use for two way communication. The night vision is crystal clear as well. Works with all nest products so there is one place to go for your cameras and thermostats. It won't replace my home camera system but I needed an extra camera in my garage That wouldn't be temperature sensitive and this was it. Dwane cochenour

If you are already part of or are planning on getting into the Google/Nest eco system then this product is for you! I love being connected to my home even when I am away. The Nest Cam gives me piece of mind when I am home or away. I have two cameras, the original nest indoor Cam and now this one. This camera is great and the functionality that Nest offers is amazing. If you already have a Nest Cam and are looking into this one as I did, the biggest thing I would be aware of is how the camera mounts. This isn't an issue but it is very different than the indoor and should definitely be considered. I had to change some of my mounting plans when I realized this. I love the Google/Nest home products though, and this is the 19th product piece of theirs that I have purchased and added into my home eco system.

I reviewed MANY systems, and ultimately got the Nest Outdoor Cameras. I bought 2 to start, been having problems in the neighborhood lately and wanted to safeguard my property. I am very tech savy, however, setup to your wi-fi is extremely easy using the Nest app on my iPad and reading the barcode on the camera. Physical installation was easy, but getting up high on some extension ladders may be difficult for some, however, they do offer installers that will come out and do it for a fee. I was up and running in no time, and playing around with the settings and app for about 1 hour made me instantly purchase the 10-day history subscription which is well worth the price! $10 1st camera, $5 each additional per month. This allows 24/7 surveillance and 10-day history on their servers in the cloud. You can easily make clips and download them to your PC and share them via email, FB, text, etc. Needless to say, I went back the very next day to add a 3rd camera. Now I've had them installed for less than a week, loving them so much I'm buying a 4th and my entire homes' perimeter is covered! 2 second delay on popup notifications I have set for zones, on iPad you can view a quick 2 sec clip right from the popup! Features go on and on. Couldn't be happier! Night vision is good, but if it's completely dark it goes about 20 - 25', if there is ambient light from street, house, or parking lot lamps, then night vision increases on both quality and distance. The daytime recording is excellent on quality, however, don't expect to be reading moving license plates or getting great detail of people's faces from 50' away. If someone is on my property though it sure does nab them with great detail. The only thing I don't like is the Nest app occasionally locks up on my iPad Air 2 while I'm scrolling through video footage history too fast, I've learned if you do it smoothly and slowly it doesn't lock up. I can't wait to see any new features they may add to the software and or firmware updates on the cameras. Hoped this long review helps someone decide.
