Only Necessary for Large Homes
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a mere WiFi extender for the Nest Secure Alarm System. Setup is simple and easy. Plug it into any electrical outlet between the Nest Security base and sensor for a clearer and stronger connection... essential for quality security. It has a sleek design with a low profile. For $69, you should consider whether this is necessary for your home. If you don't have a very large home, this may not be necessary for you. Set up your home Nest security system and test it thoroughly. If there is an intermittent signal, pick this up. If not, save your money.

Great way to extend your Nest alarm coverage
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nest connect is an optional device to add to the Nest Secure alarm system. It helps when you need to extend your coverage for larger houses. It works great assuring all the devices in your house stay connected and working properly. Its simple to add to your already set up system within the app. Then plug it in between the main unit and the the detect devices. Simple way to add even more security and peace of mind to your houses security. Works great.

Easy to setup range extension for Nest
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nest Connect is an easy and simple way to setup an extended range connection for your Nest security alarm system that works great for larger homes. Setup is a breeze and it allows you to expand your security system throughout your whole home for those that need it. The only complaint I have is that it works exclusively with the Nest Secure items and not with any of Nest's other products, it would be nice if this extended the range for cameras and anything else that Nest may sell. Other than that it is an excellent product that does exactly what it is supposed to and is simple to setup.

OK but I wish Nest handled this differently
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a lot of Nest products. This is only needed to get my door lock to work. I wish they just had the logic in the lock itself.

Simple installation, works as expected
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nest Connect extends the range of your Nest Secure System for a larger property. While it may not be needed for small apartments, it is a reliable addition to Nest Secure users with multi-level houses and other larger homes. I plugged the Connect closer to the rear of the house, away from the main hub located near the main living room area. I did not experience any issues with connectivity for the rear alarm. My home uses many smart devices and countless items accessing the home WiFi, but through a week of testing, I did not notice any drop-off in connection for the rear house area alarms. While I'm certain that the Nest Secure System itself is working properly throughout the size of my property, I am happy with this range extending addition, especially since I'm considering adding a couple of extra sensors in the lower levels of the house. Full disclosure, I was provided this product for my honest, unbiased review.

Extender for Nest Detect Sensors
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you install a Nest Secure system and you find that some of your door/window sensors are too far from the Nest Guard (base unit), then you might need this Nest Connect. Like the other Nest products, setup is extremely easy--you just tap "add" in the Nest app then scan the QR code. Just plug the Connect into an outlet somewhere between the Guard and the weak sensors and you should be in good shape. I have a 2500 sq. ft. house, but one of the doors I want to monitor is a garage entry on the far side of the house. In fact, from the Guard it's through about 1/3 of the house, through a 2-car garage, then on the far side of a 1-car garage. Both garages have cars and a lot of things that can drop the signal, so I feel better making sure that sensor has a solid connection. It's working great, so I'd definitely recommend it if you have large house or notice any signal problems with your Detect sensors.

buy if you have issues keeping connected
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is basically a range extender that works with the Nest Secure alarm system, and all of the add-ons you have connected to your wifi network. I found I did need this, as there were a couple spots in my home that didn’t quite reach my Nest Secure, or would disconnect from time to time. You would only really need this if you have a pretty large property. My advice would be to get the Nest Secure system first, and see if you have an area where it does not reach a sensor, as the price of the Nest Connect is pretty high, as is the entire Nest Secure system. However, I think it is worth every penny! Both the Connect - and the Secure itself as well. It is a very well thought out alarm system.

Range extender with future applications
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nest Connect’s job is to extend the range of your existing Nest Secure network using a newer wireless protocol called a thread network, which is designed with the Internet of Things in mind. Right now, it’s just a range extender and battery backup—but this thread router can have many other uses as Smart Home adoption increases, with only a software update required. Setup was simple, no different than any other component of the Nest Secure system: Add it from the app, scan a QR code, and follow the installation instructions. At $69, I think it's priced a bit high for what little value it provides. That said, it can definitely be more useful in the future as thread networks are adopted; there's no reason why this device can't also extend the range of other Nest devices outside of their system.

For Those Hard to Reach Places
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nest Connect is designed to extend the range of the Nest Secure. In my house because of the rather tight floorplan I found that the Guard itself was able to reach all of my sensors, but I placed the Connect in the system just in case. Can't really say for sure if it made any significant difference, but I haven't had any problems with it either. I am sure if you were in a house with a much wider floorplan than mine and the sensors were spread out it would be useful or even necessary.

Never connected to Nest X Yale look
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am tech savvy, but I was not able to have this gadget connect to the Nest x Yale lock. Why doesn't the lock connect to Wifi directly anyway? Why do I need to shell out another $70 for a Google Connect? The answer: Because Nest likes to sell gadgets and collect our money! But it's bad design. A smart lock should connect on its own.

Extends the range of the Next Secure!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This simple device does exactly what it says it'll do. It acts as a wifi extender to enable connections to sensors placed on the far corners of your home. Like the main unit, it has a built-in battery backup, so the sensors will remain active, even when the power is lost. Setup was simple and quickly completed using the Nest App. If you have a larger home and wish to use the Nest home security system, I recommend purchasing this accessory.
