Easy Install with No Monthly Monitoring Fee.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Security system by Nest was a pleasure to install. The directions were very easy and concise within it's app, even while installing the motion detectors and other peripherals. I was not sure this unit would provide ample coverage without needing to purchase more motion detectors. We have several entrance points on our main level. But with it's sensitivity, everything with this unit was enough to cover our entry points. This unit came with one Nest base unit. two Nest sensors(for door/window open or motion) and two Nest tags. I love that the tags can arm or disarm without having to enter a code. To my knowledge there are no monitoring options for this unit, but that is to come in the future, which means there are no monthly fees for it to work, and work well. The moment it does not see motion for a period it notifies you that it looks like no one is home, and asks if you would like to arm the system. I appreciate the fact that it is pet friendly, or at least dog friendly, our 15 pound Bichon/Poodle mutt has not set it off yet. I am a little disappointed that there is not more integration into the Google Home interface. I found several things that interface with the Nest thermostat, but not the Nest Secure??? If you are looking for this unit to alert you that a door or a window has opened immediately, this is not the unit you need. The shortest option for notification of a breach is 30 seconds. I am not sure why they would not include a night feature to enable instant notification. If I were installing this in my daughters home, or my parents home, I would want that type of a feature to be available. I may be missing something, in the software, but I feel I have seen other complaints about this. This unit is one I would recommend to a friend with certain security needs, but this does not fulfill every security need.

Works Great!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Nest security system was constantly losing contact with the more remote window sensors in my house. I bought this item to solve the problem and it works great. Easy to set up. Easy connection. And most important, I haven't had a sensor drop out since the day I installed it (which is over 1 month now). No more annoying "non-connect" sounds coming from my central hub. This was a quick, easy and affordable solution. The unit is small and blends in easily with the decor unlike most Wi-Fi boosters that have flashing lights and try to draw attention to themselves. Highly recommended.....

It works!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed to add this because the sensors were too far apart and kept dropping the signal. It's much better now after adding the extender.

Required Piece of Hardware for Nest/Yale Lock
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a lot of Nest/Yale products. The Nest connect is one of two ways to connect the Nest/Yale Lock to the rest of the system. The other way is to purchase a Nest Security System (Secure), which is way more expensive. Nest offers a package deal for the lock and Nest Connect which is cheaper than buying them separately. The only thing I would recommend is plugging this into an outlet that is not accessible to little ones who may pull it out.

Q: QuestionHi I have seen a lot of these Nest Therm going to over $150.00 so I need to know the difference in these products please? Thanks in advance Cindy Haas
Asked by cindy.
- A:Answer There are indeed a lot of Nest products on the market. The Nest thermostat is for controlling your HVAC, to replace your old "dumb" thermostat. The Nest thermostat connects to your wifi if you want it to be controlled from your phone, laptop, or voice assistants like Amazon Alexa, but it doesn't have to connect to wifi if you just want basic thermostat functions (but why would you not utilize that value). The Nest connect is for extending the range of Nest secure devices, which are motion detectors and open/close sensors that you can put on windows, doors, etc to protect your home. It's a lot like an ADT-style home security system, but DIY and doesn't require wires as it's all WiFi and battery operated. When those devices are too far away from the central hub (the Nest guard), the Nest connect helps extend range to widen the coverage and make those devices work better. The Nest camera are for recording video around the house (inside or outside). The Nest door cam is a doorbell with a camera.

Q: QuestionWe have a nest doorbell. I would like a nest chime but I don’t find one. Do you have any advice? Thank you.
Asked by Pat.
- A:Answer Google Nest does not sell or manufacture chimes. We recommend contacting a local Nest Pro or trained electrician to recommend a chime and transformer that will work with the current wiring of your home.

Q: QuestionIs this WiFi carry a monthly payment? I need Wi-Fi only without cable? How does this work?

Q: QuestionDo it extend range for camera
Asked by Southbeachjohn.
- A:Answer The Nest Connect is an extender, but is only used with the Nest Secure alarm system. It is not a WiFi extender for your router or other Nest products in your home. The Nest Connect will only offer WiFi extensions for the Nest Secure alarm system. Most homes may not need a Nest Connect, but you might if your floor plan necessitates placing Detects more than 50 feet from your Guard, or if building materials or existing devices create greater-than-average interference. You may want to consider adding a Nest Connect if any of these instances may cause a problem with the Nest Secure in your home.
