Installed this doorbell with existing doorbell wire. Had 20 volts so didn't have to do anything. Comes with everything needed for the install. Connected with my Google home app instantly and works perfectly. Wife wanted to get rid of ugly doorbell ringer so ours rings just to our Google mini's placed throughout the house.

Really nice doorbell by Google. I happened to have the 2nd gen wired before, and its a major upgrade in terms of video quality, but also quantity, what do I mean? Well the 2nd gen one had good video quality, however it was so narrow I could not see to the sides of my front door, yes, I could see the floor for packages but I didn't need to see so vertically that I could see the ceiling and sky.... Well this one fixes that. The video wider now but will also let you see the floor for packages like before. Video quality has been upped too. Installing it was super easy, even more so if you had the 2nd gen before like me, because it uses the same mounting mechanism! I swapped it in 5 minutes. If not, they include everything you need to get it installed, including an angle wedge if you need to angle the camera a bit. The Home app guides you step by step with pictures how to get it installed. Once installed, this new one has more AI features than before, thanks to Google Gemini. However, you have to pay for it (they do include a free month, which I did not use, because I had a better deal since I also have Google One for more storage on other Google devices). If you use the premium version of the subscription you have access to more storage time and AI features (this include 24/7 recording, AI prompts, like better descriptions of what the camera is seeing). If not, you can still use it without the subscriptions, but you get way less storage and no AI features. I do like it recognizes packages, faces (you can save those for future recognitions of people you know), animals, cars etc. You can create zones too, and choose which alert you our not, so you are not bombarded with notifications. One thing I notices, is Google needs to improve the alert timing and night vision. It feels its software/firmware its not completely out of a beta phase... Specially the alerts, its very inconsistent, sometimes I will get alerts right away, sometimes it will lag some a not alert me after a several seconds even minutes... This is critical, specially if you have packages seating on your porch... Also the night vision... its worse and darker than my 2nd gen, an also, it should not switch automatically to it, I have plenty of light and it should stay in color night mode, however this needs to be tweaked, because if I leave it on "auto", even with so much light on my front door, it still switches to the black and white night vision, which, as stated before, is very bad as of right now.... In all, great improvement over the previous gen, but needs some work on the software side by Google, I have sent some feedbacks (which you can do through the Google Home app), if they take them and fix those little bugs soon, it could be one of the best doorbells out there!

Finally, a video doorbell that just works. I have tried half a dozen different units from varied brands over the past several years and always experienced the same types of issues. Poor connectivity, missed events, slow loading for live feeds, even overheating. All were lackluster and left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. Now, I have the 3rd generation Google Nest doorbell, and all my problems are in the past. It just simply works. It never misses a beat, connects quickly and seamlessly, has incredible video and sound quality, looks great, and was super easy to install and setup. I still get the push notifications with short clips for the things I want such as a person or package delivery but could also select notifications for vehicles and other things as well. It will also let me know when a package has been picked up telling me it is not being seen anymore. It will see people as they approach the bottom of my 7 stairs rather than waiting until they are already at the door if at all. It has also never sent me a false positive so far. Looking through event videos is quick and easy, and it only records what you need to see without extra unnecessary footage. You can see every detail with the beautiful 2k resolution and HDR. It has a ring of light around the button so visitors can easily tell where to press, and LED’s near the lens to indicate when being recorded. The only drawback is also an understandable one, which is that for full functionality you need the Google Home Premium subscription. It did include a month for free of the standard version which gets 30 days of event recordings, smart alerts, and the Gemini AI features. You can upgrade to advanced for 60 days of event recordings, 10 days of 24/7 recording, event summaries, and a few other things. I find the premium to be sufficient for my wants and needs, and the one subscription covers all Google nest cameras on your account which adds excellent value, and I plan to add more later as well. I know there are too many subscriptions in this world, and that gets tiresome, but for my peace of mind in the security of my home I feel like the quality of what I am getting here is worth the relatively minimal cost. This is a phenomenal doorbell camera, it captures every event every time in high quality, and it addresses every one of my complaints about other doorbells I’ve tried. I’m so happy with it and I plan to switch all the rest of my security cameras to the next gen Google nest devices as soon as possible.

This is a worthy purchase or upgrade for anyone who wants a great front doorbell or would like an upgrade from a previous version. Quality is vastly improved, and reliability is great. Additionally, if you have a Google One subscription, it comes with Google Home Premium included with 30 days of video history and automations. Setup: The Google Home app walks you through the fairly easy process. Unless you get it professionally installed, you will need a tiny bit of DIY and electrical knowhow. First, secure power to the doorbell and chime. Hook up the chime to the adapter, install the doorbell (I used a drill for stucco to accommodate the anchors) and turn power back on. The app has a great in-depth video which walks you through every step of the process and also has each step demonstrated in the setup screens. Once paired you will use the Google Home app to interface with the device. I recommend turning on face recognition so you can identify known faces which can assist with your notifications and Gemini reports. My device connected via 5GHz which I preferred over 2.4GHz for better bandwidth for 2k HDR videos. Features and compatibility: The app appears to be compatible with the Google Home app (Android & iOS) and Alexa (Android and iOS). Previous models were compatible with Samsung SmartThings, but I can’t seem to connect this model with it unfortunately. I also do not see any HomeKit support baked in at this time. If you have any Google Home displays or Alexa displays, they will display your doorbell anytime someone rings the doorbell which is a great feature. Additionally, if you have a Pixel watch on your Android phone, you will also get a quick feed. This also works with Google TV devices. Gemini can also interface with Nest devices to give you a summary of what happened that day if you ask it. For example, it will say “there were three people knocking but left, additionally two packages were left on your porch.” Automations can be used through the Google Home app to have various presets and settings used when you come home or leave. Zones are reported so you can have the device only provide notifications in certain areas to reduce too many notifications from coming in. Video / audio quality: I would describe this as outstanding overall. Video comes in at 2K HDR for plenty of details and better handling of light and dark (especially with the Sun). During the day, details are very crisp. I attached two night photos, one with lights and one without lights (infrared on). Both allow me to see cats and foxes running around at night with ease. You can download previous video events as needed in the app if needed as well as communicate with people ringing the bell. You can use simple prerecorded messages such as “I am not home” for example or use the two-way voice comms. The field of view is 166 degrees with a square recording. It is great for getting most of your porch.

I got the Hazel Gen 3 doorbell to replace a Gen 2 ‘Ivy’ model, as I liked the color so much on our house and it was close enough - just slightly less green. From outward appearances, the color is just about the only difference you can spot, but inside it has the internal performance and image quality upgrades that I had hoped for from the prior model. ___ Performance and Quality ___ In any doorbell camera, video quality and speed to load a live feed (and any recent video via notification) is key. Luckily, while not perfect, this Gen 3 model feels much more performant. Live views are more likely to display quickly, allowing me to intercept and talk to a person at the door when I’m away. The new square image finally feels right too. Gen 2 allowed for a taller vertical view, but now I can see to the sides, completing a field of view that seems most impropriate for such a camera. The 2k sensor also proves a less fuzzy image and greater contrast, IMO. The outward design has not changed at all, but it already seemed great, so I’m happy they didn’t change it for the heck of it. Possibly one of the best quality of life choices Google made was to allow this model to easily swap out with the prior model. Instead of drilling new holes or buying a new mount, I swapped the camera and was up and running in about 5 minutes - super easy. If there’s a reason to upgrade again in the future, I’ll be looking for this ease of install from 100% compatibility as one of my reasons to upgrade. ___ AI and Gemini ___ I’m less excited about how Google presented the Gemini features in this generation. Previously, you would get helpful person identification and ‘package left’ notifications that could save some time when the camera noticed activity. It was short and sweet. They’ve expanded upon that and promoted new summary features that is excessively wordy and very often so completely incorrect or off base as to be useless and time wasting. It very commonly goes into a lot of useless detail about people coming and going (who cares?) and incorrectly thinks that a beverage cooler is a ‘grill’ that people 'visit' and take food from. It also thought it saw someone with a lawnmower despite the front porch being a raised deck with no grass in sight. It loves to go into detail about the color of bags people are carrying, and other generally worthless information. Is this terrible? - Well it comes across as a feature that should never have been green lit for a wide audience. At best, it could help the visually impaired... but as an accessibility feature. My main problem is in how it’s presented. No user of this camera benefits from this rambling AI slop in its current form, but the underlying recognition does allow for a decent search experience. That search lets you to just ask for things in plain text, which did allow me to quickly jump to only the videos that mattered or that I was looking for. If you wondered what happened to something on the porch, just ask. I asked it to show me the times squirrels appeared and it surprised me by instantly surfacing footage showing that one of our decorative pumpkins had in fact been visited by one (lucky not to destroy it this time). This is how AI features should be presented - in useful ways that can save time and avoid scrolling through videos, rather than presenting excessive amounts of mundane details that you didn’t ask for, or need to waste attention on. The current Gemini offering here is a mix of both. __ Summary __ This is finally the updated doorbell camera the last generation should have been. Google has a decent app experience and paid service, which we use, but this doorbell is also useful with its limited clip features, which are free. It’s internal upgrades are it's best features, seemingly helping it present live video more quickly, and in a perfect field of view with good quality, making this a great video doorbell this time around.

I am a huge fan of Google's lineup of security camera products. Ease of use, installation and performance check off all the right boxes for me. My original 1st gen Nest doorbell was on life support by this point since installing it in 2019 since the internal battery has to be replaced or anyone ringing the doorbell will cause it to lose power and reboot even though it is hardwired. I've changed the battery twice myself, but it was time to let her go as the face plate was all but destroyed after removing it over and over. In the box you get the sleek looking Doorbell, installation hardware including screws and mounting bracket/wedge, chime connector, a sticker and the hex key to tighten/loosen the screw. Installation was fairly easy for me as I already had experience with installing the OG before. Now you have to note, when using the Google Home App to help with installation, any previous hardware you have is NOT compatible with the new stuff. This includes the chime and bracket in my case. The App is your friend here and will walk you through all the installation steps from start to finish and to also make sure your home wiring is compatible with the hardware. Now, I am old school, but I will just make 1 rant and be over it, but I do not like how I have to use the Google Home App ONLY to view/change settings for the camera instead of my existing Nest App that I still have a few cameras on. Yes, the Home App can see all my other cameras too, but I just do not like the look of it. Oh well, I already got used to it now. Now the biggest and in my opinion the best improvement is the video quality. Going from barely FHD to 2k was a massive eye opener. I absolutely love how I can see everything so much clearer/sharper then my previous camera, even at night! Though the lens is now a fisheye view, it now sees a lot more area then my previous Gen 1 model. Since I am a regular user of the subscription service, I got an extension on my plan, but all new users get 30 days free to try it out. I love how I can record 24/7 and view my history whenever I wish to.

To start off, I'm not exactly too new to video doorbells and I was previously using a competitor 2K model. I have some experience with setting up the previous 2nd gen version of these google models for a family member and was always quite impressed with how well the nest doorbell integrates into the google home ecosystem without too much paywall from subscription services. PROS: -Great 2k footage. Puts the previous 1080p version to shame. -Good FoV -5ghz WIFI support. Also supports 2.4ghz. -Displays front door on Google nest HUB when someone presses the button. Have mine setup in my home office and it's really been a game changer for things like avoiding solicitors or when packages arrive. -Superior voice clarity over my previous video doorbell. -Option to setup voice notes for when you're away. CONS: -Night vision is kind of lacking, especially coming from the 2k competitor doorbell cam it replaced. - 24/7 Long duration recording locked behind a paywall, but this is common for most brands in this space. -Requires hooking up a relay device into the doorbell chime area itself. Seems to be for proper voltages? Just weird to me. -Not 4K, but maybe next gen. OVERALL: This has been pretty much exactly what I expected out of a next generation video doorbell from google. There are a couple gripes that I do have, but it's not exactly make or break for me as the overall performance is quite exceptional. I would 100% grab this if you're looking for something with emphasis on 2 way audio clarity.

I’ve been a Google smart home user for many years, owning several Google Home displays, speakers, and indoor cameras, but this is my first time trying one of their doorbells, and I’m genuinely impressed. First off, the build quality has noticeably improved compared to previous Google doorbell devices. It feels solid, well-constructed, and has a bit of weight to it, which gives it a premium feel. Installation was straightforward. The Home app provides detailed step-by-step instructions with helpful visuals, making the process simple even for beginners. I installed the wired version, and if you’ve set up wired smart doorbells before, the process is familiar, including the chime connector. My only complaint is that the wall bracket isn’t designed to fit standard electrical boxes, so I had to improvise a bit. Setup through the app was also effortless, just remember to scan the QR code on the back before securing it with the screw. Once installed, using the device through the Google Home app is intuitive. The video quality is excellent, covering my entire doorway (including the floor), which was a limitation of my previous doorbell. Audio quality is also very good, and I like the subtle lighting that activates when someone approaches the door. Where this doorbell really shines is in its smart features. Package and people detection work incredibly well. I turned off people notifications but kept package detection on, and I’m impressed that it starts recording as the package is being delivered, not after it’s dropped off. You get up to six hours of recorded playback without a subscription, but for longer storage, you’ll need the Google Home Premium (formerly Nest Aware) plan. Overall, I’m very pleased with the 3rd Gen Google Doorbell. It’s solidly built, modern in design, delivers excellent video and audio quality, and offers a rich set of features. Installation and setup are simple, and it integrates seamlessly with other Google Home products. The box includes the doorbell, installation kit, and manual.

For the last week, I've been testing the Nest Doorbell Gen 3 (wired). Overall, this is a great security doorbell that is easy to install, has a wide field of view, and does a fantastic job of capturing events. Installation was simple; the only tool necessary was a screwdriver. Everything else for mounting the doorbell and connecting to my built-in door chime was included in the box. From start-to-finish, I was able to complete the install in about 10 minutes. The Gen 3 Nest Doorbell now works directly with the Google Home app, which has replaced the legacy Nest app. Out of the box, the Nest Doorbell records up to 60 days of events. However, since I am a Google Home Premium Advanced subscriber, I am able to see the 60 days of events and up to 10 days of 24/7 recording. In the app settings, I was able to change doorbell themes, set up which events I wanted to receive, and manage my familiar faces and notifications. I also turned on Gemini, which added context to my events, such as identifying whether a package was delivered or retrieved and by whom (if it is a familiar face), whether it is someone walking a pet, as well as identifying the type of vehicle and color of vehicles that pass. At the end of the day, it gave me a text summary of all the activities captured for the day. The video quality is good. The camera records in 2K and features a wide 160-degree field of view, which is excellent because it allows the camera to see my entire porch, making it easier to confirm package deliveries. Furthermore, due to the wide field of view, I am able to receive vehicle and person events quicker because the camera can see more of the street in front of my house. However, a trade-off of the wide field of view is that I sometimes get alerts from activities happening at my neighbor's house. With that said, I would highly recommend the Nest Doorbell, especially if you are already a Google Home subscriber.

Google - Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen) is the latest version of the Nest Doorbell, that ups the game from the 1st and 2nd generations. I was coming from a gen 1 Nest Doorbell that suited my needs well but wanted to upgrade because I wanted more integration with my other Google devices. Being a wired device that works off of the power from the doorbell transformer, it never needs to be recharged. Installation is very straight forward using the Nest Doorbell app from Google. The app walks you step by step all the way to viewing the camera on your smart device. I can’t emphasize how easy the app makes the installation. Once you have the Nest installed, you can view the live feed on your smart phone or tablet with the Google home app on them. Like the older versions of the Nest Doorbell, you can listen and talk to people who ring the doorbell. However, the Gen 3 takes it a step further by providing a larger field of view giving you more area to see. The Gen 3 also lets you identify friends and family by learning them and letting you know they are there before they ring the bell. The app also captures the history of the activity around your front door through the Google home app with thumbnail shots by time of occurrence on the Nest Doorbell camera. This is without a doubt one of the best video doorbells on the market and deserves a look if you are wanting front door peace of mind!

I didn’t know what to expect with the 3rd generation Google Nest Doorbell, coming from the 2nd generation, I didn’t really think much could be upgraded. I’m impressed. Installation was easy coming from the previous generation, too. If you’re new to nest, everything you need is included in the box. Wiring accessories, mounting hardware, and the doorbell chime connector. The video quality has significantly improved now that everything is in 2K HDR. The clarity and quality are substantial. Everything looks sharp, even at night. I also love how much more I can see with the wider 166 degree field of view. Now I get a clear look at most of my door, entry way, and even out down into the driveway with the included mounting wedge. Something to keep in mind, if you have the first generation doorbell, you might need to update your transformer, so it’s worth checking that before buying. Overall, I’m really happy with this upgrade. It feels like a serious step up in both quality and convenience, and it makes keeping an eye on the front door a whole lot easier.

As a gadget addict, I was an early adopter of the smart home concept. For the past few years, I’ve been invested into the Google Nest universe with cameras, smart speakers and smart displays. The wired Google Nest Doorbell (3rd gen.) is the latest addition to my smart home, replacing an original Nest Hello doorbell. The installation is straightforward if you follow the directions. It can however get more complex as you might have to do some drilling and definitely deal with electrical connections. In my case, I had to change the existing doorbell transformer due to the higher specifications of this new doorbell. A 16 to 24VAC, and 10 to 40VA transformer operating at 50/60Hz is required. I’m not a professional electrician or installer and I was able to swap the transformer and the doorbell in a little less than an hour. Once installed, the set-up in the Google Home was quick and easy. I already had a Google Home premium subscription and it took full advantage of the Gemini integration by identifying by name the people of the house and everything else that it’s seeing like people, animals (cats, dogs, lizards, peacocks) and vehicles (color, type). It also produces a zoomed in picture of people, animals, packages and vehicles in the notification screen, making it easier to identify. It has a slick, simple and modern design that feels built from quality material. The 1:1 aspect ratio combined with a 166-degree field of view is a net improvement from the Nest Doorbell Hello. There is more peripheral vision left and right, and it is much easier to locate packages and to view a person from head to toe. The 2K HDR image quality gives off more details which is noticeable when it zooms in the picture in the notification screen, up to 6 times larger. As expected, the 166-degree field of view distorts the image a bit, making some straight lines appear curvy but it’s no different than a typical surveillance camera. Overall, the wired Google Nest Doorbell (3rd gen.) is a premium quality doorbell that takes advantage of all the smart benefits provided by Gemini. If you’re thoroughly invested in the Google Nest ecosystem, you can’t pass up on this doorbell. Its refined 2K HDR video resolution combined with a wide field of view plus A.I. capabilities makes it a top contender in the field of premium smart doorbells.

I've owned every Google doorbell—from the original Nest to the 2nd gen, and now this 3rd-gen with Gemini. The doorbell itself looks and feels identical to the 2nd gen, right down to the packaging and wall mount, but it has a higher 2k resolution camera and Gemini integration. Setup was a breeze since I already had the connector from my old one—I just swapped out the 2nd gen, hooked up the wires, and popped it back on the wedge mount. Super easy upgrade if you're coming from a 2nd-gen (and maybe 1st, I don't recall it's mount style). I was on the old Nest/Home plan, but activating this one automatically switched me to a newer plan. I haven't really used the Gemini features yet, but I figure that's the big selling point here since the hardware hasn't changed much aside from the 2k camera. I do use a TON of Google devices and subscribe to their Gemini Pro plan, which I believe you have to do to take full advantage of its features, but basic doorbell functionality is fine if you don't want to pay. A couple issues still exist, though. When live streaming to a Google Home Max display, the 1st-gen filled the whole screen so you could see the full porch easily. The 2nd-gen switched to a tall, cropped "phone-style" view with the sides cut off, and sadly the 3rd-gen is the largely the same, with more fisheye effect so it captures all of the porch view. I was hoping they'd go back to full-screen, but no luck. The night view w/IR lights is not very visible since the IR floods the wall on the right. I have a Lorex system too, so maybe it's IR light is messing with the Google's image, but as you can see from the picture I attached the white wall washes out the whole image. Bottom line on the image, I am happy it shows the entire porch, I just wish it was in a wider resolution on screens and there was a way to block the night IR from flooding out the wall. I suspect the portrait is best for phone viewing, which was likely Google’s goal. Bottom line: if you're already in the Google ecosystem, this is a solid choice. Even if you're starting fresh, I'd recommend it—just know every brand has its own "ecosystem" now, and there is a fairly high level of commitment or “loyalty” when buying different home automation items. It comes down to what matters to you but I will say Google is a SOLID ecosystem to buy into. This one's staying on our door—it's a perfectly good video doorbell, cropped view and all, but I still miss the original 1st gen Google doorbell. I'm just happy it now shows the entire front porch!

The Google Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen) 2K is a nice upgrade over my Google Nest Doorbell battery original. The difference in image quality is outstanding, and it has a smaller footprint, I never need to worry about the battery running out. Setup is very easy and the app guides you through it step by step even for the electrical hookup for the chime. the package has everything you need. the doorbell, chime, base, wedge, bracket, screws, connectors. Just download the app and the it will guide you step by step from start to finish. you will need to shut off electricity so knowing where you breaker is a must. the image quality is wonderful and I am very pleased with it. you can choose low light option with or without color (infrared) and the field of view is very good. you will need a screw driver to screw in the bracket and wedge. this is my 3rd Google Nest Doorbell and it is by far the best in the market. with the Gemini pro plans or Google one plans you get 30 days and longer recording events. I also recommend enabling face detection for familiar faces. its elegant, efficient and shows the person at the door on all Google connected screens. you can't go wrong with it.

I went from the gen 1 doorbell that was a battery powered and it worked great. But then I saw google announce the new gen(this one) and I was looking at the spec sheets of it and it was everything that I had but made it 2x better for my house! The camera lenses is now fisheye but that doesn’t bother me since my porch is really wide and open. The smart HDR is actually really great especially on the super sunny days where the sun is beaming and you can differentiate on what you’re seeing thru the doorbell video feed clearly! The software for the doorbell has been working actually flawless surprisingly without any issues, but I kinda hate how the google home subscription has gone up substantially… to get the best possible results out of your doorbell, you’re gonna need to go for the highest tier software to have the new AI Gemini detection and integration on the doorbell. The doorbell value is 9/10 worth it. The software value is 7.1/10 because of how pricey it is and how they lure you into getting the higher tier. Also PSA the doorbell installation was kind of wonky since it required me to do an update 2 times in a row to start using the product rather than just one update itself.

I’ve never used a Google Nest doorbell before, but I’ve used countless other smart doorbells. Some of them I loved, and some of them I didn't like so much. I’m a little on the fence about the Google Nest Doorbell. Let's get into it. Google does a great job marketing and presenting their product. Even the packaging is great. The Nest doorbell did not disappoint. But it's not all about the presentation or marketing, especially if you have many other similar products to compare to. Setup was simple, scan a QR code and the app will walk you through everything you need to get the doorbell mounted, your mechanical chime converted (if you have one), connected to WiFi, and in your Google Home app. It's pretty simple if you are a somewhat handy person and can drill a couple holes and connect a couple of wires. I'm a big fan of the “smart” portion of this doorbell. I think it integrates great with the Google Home app and I think it does a great job of detecting packages and pets and people. What I am not a huge fan of, is the actual video quality. It's not a connectivity issue either. I have top notch WiFi and the doorbell gets a fantastic signal but I am not a fan of the fisheye view this camera records. I don't see an option to change it either. It looks bad in the corners and I know we aren't striving for the perfect image but I feel like this doorbell falls short in comparison to some of the other smart doorbells I’ve had. I was so excited to experience the “smart” features of this doorbell and integrate it into an already excellent ecosystem. But if the video quality isn't up to par, it's a big deal. It's not horrible, but my expectations were higher. All in all, I think the smart features, the app, and the aesthetics of this doorbell are great. I just wasn't very impressed with the quality of the video. I would recommend it, but if you don't like a “fisheye” type camera view, you may want to check something else out.

Big improvement over the last version in resolution. Images are significantly clearer, and the AI identification is impressive. I had a delivery, and it not only recognized that, but also mentioned "Package delivered by FedEx"—it literally identified the shipper. As for the cosmetics, they look exactly the same in size and install just like the previous version. One more thing: if you have an aftermarket tilt mount, like a Wasserstein, this is the same setup as the earlier one, so it will be compatible.

I’m very pleased with the purchase of my Google nest doorbell camera. The picture quality is excellent. I connected it about four weeks ago. It has not dropped Wi-Fi connection yet. Very happy with my purchase would buy again would recommend..
