Installation was a breeze with the iOS application. Setup multiple units without any problem. No issues with false alarms as reported with the first generation units. The motion detection night lights are a plus. Only con is the high price, would like to see these priced at $79 each would be fair.

I got the 3 pack of these smoke detectors and placed one in the basement, one on the 1st floor and one in the 2nd floor. They were very easy to install and made it easy to get added to the nest app. I can check them anytime to make sure everything is working fine. The detectors will even identify where the smoke is at as well as give you a warning if it seems like smoke is starting to develop. I purchased the hard wired ones but they do still have batteries (included) as back up. This is a great product.

Bought four of these to replace the ridiculous cheap ones that start chirping in the middle the night for no good reason even despite checking the integrity and full charge of the batteries. These were breeze to set up in the ends are connected to your phone through an app. There are some very helpful YouTube videos to watch to help you install them. So far so good after nine months no false alarms and only one reminder to conduct a test which was done in an automated way using the app.

Easy set up and installation. I’m not the one to write a long review on a product but here are some of the highlights: has a spot light when walking in the dark, frequently conducts test to ensure proper functionality, quality build, and its WiFi connected allowing you to get notifications when detecting smoke, carbon monoxide, and test failure. Definitively works as advertised. You will not be disappointed. I need to purchase two more to complete my set up. Great product and highly recommended.

Google's integration of Nest products into the Google Home/Assistant world has been a mess. The Nest app is and was an ok way to interact with Nest products. The Google Home app, while an improvement in some areas, is a leap backward in many key areas: like device set up.
The Nest Protect is still one of, if not, the best connected smoke and CO alarms available. The path light works very well as a nightlight and the integration with the Protect and Nest Cam works extremely well. The installation is quite easy and the set up is still easy, though more confusing now. While the Google Home app combines the Nest Cams into the UI, the Nest app is still needed to set up and monitor the Nest Protect. A more streamlined approach is severely warranted.
I would rate this 5 stars, but for Google's failed Nest integration.

I chose this smoke alarm/Carbon Monoxide detector because I currently have a Nest thermostat in my home. I have enjoyed the convenience of the thermostat and now, my smoke alarm as well. The automatic reminders to test the alarm really come in handy and I no longer stub my toes on the bottom stair with the auto light that turns on when you pass by. I really wanted the black model of this, but it was not available when my old alarm went kaput. This smoke alarm is pricey compared to most others available, but it is truly an investment in our home and safety.

While remodeling our home we have been purchasing these for updating the rooms. The look alone is worth the purchase, regular smoke detectors are very distracting. Set up is simple and effortless. The night light feature is great and is surprisingly efficient during the middle of the night. I got rid of all my built into the outlet nightlights, now guests can have a pathway lit as they walk around the house at night.

This is a must have. Nit only a smoke detector and CO2 monitor but also lights up to provide a night like when it’s dark. You can monitor it from your phone snd it tells you when a battery should be replaced even with hard wire as battery is back up. I Noe have two and they work great. They also provide a test on their own every month so you know they are working. Great product

The Nest Protect offers peace of mind that everything is OK in my house. The Nest Protect warns of both CO and Smoke emergencies and will even send alerts and notifications to your phone. Every night when I turn of the lights, the Nest Protect flashes green. They call this the "Nightly Promise" that basically assures you the sensors have been checked and the batteries are not dead. As an added feature, the Nest Protect lights its ring white when it detects motion, offering a night light in the dark when you walk by.

I replaced 2 of my hard wired smoke co2 detectors with the nest protect. They are very easy to set up and work as they are supposed to. The voice is very clear and easy to understand, which is much netter than my old brand which I couldn't understand when it was malfunctioning and telling me that something was wrong. Maybe the best part of these is the nightlight function. In the middle of the night when my kids wake up to go to the bathroom, it senses motion and turns on a faint nightlight so that they can find their way.

I purchased 4 of these to replace my 1st generation nest protects that I installed 7 years ago. The first generation detectors require replacement after 7 years where as the 2nd generation require replacement after 10 years. These detectors operated flawlessly for 7 years! The lithium back backup batteries lasted the entire time as well! No false alarms. No chirping due to low batteries. No changing batteries!
I actually had a mini fire in a bedroom due to a candle and the detector gave me a heads up and a push notification to my phone from the early smoke. No doubt its accurate and early warning avoided a more serious problem.
The sensors are excellent technology. Without going into a bunch of detail, research fire detection sensor types and technology. The ability to monitor and test the function of the detectors from you phone is fantastic. The detectors constantly run diagnostic safety checks on the detector operation, sensors, and battery levels. All viewable on your phone.
I have a nest thermostat that interconnects with the detectors. If CO is detected, the furnace will shutdown along with the alarm and push notification to your phone.
The path light with motion detection works great. The detector in the hallway is an automatic night light by motion. Used all the time.
After my experience with detectors in the past, false alarms, battery replacements, these nest protects are worth every penny. Not to mention, I have serious peace of mind for me and my family.

Replaced my standard 20yr old smoke detectors with 4 of these nest protects. They are easy to install and are great products. I have 4 nest thermostats as well and originally thought that these best protects were over priced - but in hindsight, I think the best protects are a much better deal/product than the thermostats themselves. The night light feature is great. The smoke sensitivity is great. Functionality and remote alerts are awesome. Get these - definitely an upgrade to something that could save your families lives.

I love smart home tech. This was easy to install myself. I love that I can check my homes status on the app, and get notifications for smoke on my phone directly- which gives me piece of mind for my pets’ safety when I’m not home. Added bonus is it has a little light up feature when you walk under it, so you can see where you’re going without turning on lights late at night.

This smoke detector is absolutely awesome. The installation and software is perfect. The voice commands are clear . It detects smoke and CO2 quickly. It alerts verbally and will send text messages.
Easily the easiest detectors to setup! Best feature is if there is an alarm, all the protects go off so the entire home is alerted. The best feature you can use your smartphone to shutoff the alerts. Great when you wake up at 2am because of low backup battery or power outage! Strongly recommended !!!

Just finished installing the last one in my new home and they are a wonderful addition to my Nest learning thermostat not to mention a great idea and piece of technology. You can test and silence the alarm right from the Nest app on your phone no ladder needed for that one detector way up there anymore. It is also packed with safety features and also some super conveinant ones such as path light which acts as a night light when it detects motion. If you need new detectors or are just looking to upgrade look no further!

This is my second Nest Protect. I already have one installed upstairs and just purchased another for the main floor. They connect seamlessly and have given me zero issues. Having a pet at home all day, it's great knowing if a fire or CO accident happened, I'd get a notification and could go home to make sure they're safe. As a bonus, I love the sensored nightlight that glows as you pass. Much better than flipping a light switch when you need to move about the house in the middle of the night.

I never thought that I would spend this kind of money on a smoke detector, but this device is great. First of all, I love how they ask connect, so if there is smoke detected in the basement, all the detectors will go off. And even better all the detectors will tell you which detector went off. I also really like that toy can check the status of the detector on the app and you can even schedule tests while your away. Awesome product!

These smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are the best. Being able to monitor/test/acknowledge issues from a smart phone makes it easy. I have tall ceilings and it's nice to initiate tests or to quiet it from my phone. We had an issue with smoke in the kitchen - note the detector is not in the kitchen, but in an adjacent room - and it started warning of the smoke. It didn't go off, just warned that there was smoke. I also got the warning to my phone. When this occurred, I raced downstairs where my wife had a fire in the oven. I was able to assist her with putting it out before it spread. I really appreciated them ability to acknowledge the warning as I ran down stairs to prevent it from going off because loud noises scare my dog. Another feature I love is the auto testing once a month or the ability to do it myself. I'm able to schedule it or force it to happen when we take the dog out to avoid duress for him. It also acts as a good reminder so I can be sure they are functioning correctly. It's hard to justify a whole house full of these - I would need 9 - $900, but I did replace 3 of ours - one on each floor.
