Before purchasing this I went with Kangaroo Security which was a knock off of the Google Nest Security. I had a ton of issues with that system and decided to return it to get the real deal. I already owned a few Nest Cameras so it made sense to purchase Nest Security. The set up with easy and flawless and I went with the no contest monitoring service. It’s not as cheap as Ring but it’s backed up by a known company named Brinks. Arming and disarming the system is pretty easy too! I highly recommend this system especially if you already own Google Products!

Love this home security system. Only problem is that it google recently discontinued it, which is a bummer. I love the ecosystem I have. But soon with the lack of google support, this system will become outdated.

We got this as a way to provide greater peace of mind when we're away from the house and, especially, when one of us is travelling. Everything was very easy to install and set up. I only wish the system would incorporate voice recognition so that we could say "turn off the alarm" when we return home, but it makes some sense that you wouldn't want intruders to tell the alarm to turn off. Nonetheless, the voice recognition works very well on our google home devices so it's a little hard to believe that Google wouldn't make it work for the Nest Secure Alarm system.

Overpriced unless you purchase it on sale. Also very limited on customization capabilities as well as compatibility with other security related products. Nest REALLY need to offer integration with companies other than Brinks, and reduce the monthly price a little bit if you choose to get monitoring.

This is a great product. If you are looking for something that works with the Phillips lights. It also makes things really easy.

Easy to install, easy to set up. A bit confusing to modify/change default settings once you have finished setting up the devices. So take a bit of extra time up front considering settings. Especially for alternate users.

Great product. Easy setup, works as stated. Only issue is Google no longer makes the sensors. App Support is still available for unit functionality but for how long?

I'm not too thrilled how everything has a subscription cost these days, so I was excited to find this security system you can install yourself and not pay a subscription. The Nest Secure system was super easy to install and get working. Once you install the Nest app on your phone, you just add the Guard and other devices by scanning their QR codes. I had the Guard, fobs, and two sensors installed within about 20 minutes.
The Guard, or base unit, looks good and is easy to use. When you walk up to it, it detects your motion and lights up the appropriate lights. If it's unlocked, you can select one of the three security levels. If not, it lights up the keypad so you can enter the code or tap it with one of the tags.
The built-in battery backup for the Guard worked extremely well. When I unplugged it I immediately got a notification on my phone. The documentation says it should last at least 12 hours, but it went a full 36 hours when I tried it. Now, unless you have the cellular/subscription option you'll be limited to how long your home network will stay powered up. My UPS for those devices will only last about an hour. Still, it's nice to get an immediate notification if the power goes out and for short blips the Guard won't have to reboot or experience any outage.
There are only two things I don't like about the Nest Secure. One is it's relatively expensive for both the starter system and add-on sensors. Unless you live in a tiny apartment, you'll probably want more than just two sensors.
The other negative to keep in mind is pets. It does have a sensitivity setting to allow smaller (<40 lb) dogs to roam around without setting off the alarm. However, if you have cats they will definitely set off the motion alarm when they jump up to get a closer look, something a dog won't do. And the 85 dB siren is not pleasant for people or pets when it goes off. If you don't have pets and live in a small apartment or house, though, I think you will like this system.

Very user friendly and easy set up. Nest secure has a good battery back up just in case the power goes out.
Detects are nice due to multi functionality. However I do wish Nest had a glass break sensor for rooms with windows.

There are times when I know that a purchase will be a project but I bought this knowing that I should be able to set it up myself. I’m happy to say following the quick tutorial I’m up and running.

I recently dropped my old security company and am very happy with the move to Nest. I'm using the Secure system to cover three doors and have it linked to my outdoor IQ cams, doorbell cam and thermostat. It's great having it all in one app.
It's much easier to set up since everything is battery powered (door sensors) or a wall outlet (actual Secure base). I have only had the system for about 6-7 weeks, so I can't say how long the batteries will last in the sensors yet. I did have one of my door sensors lose connection for some reason after a few days.. I replaced battery but had to delete the item from my app and re-install. Since then, no issues with the system. Each door sensor and the main Secure base all have built in motion sensors on top of the actual door sensor itself. So it picks up motion around the door and whether the door is open/closed. It's also a bonus having the Nest/Yale smart locks...which I have set to automatically disarm my alarm when our door code is entered outside (eliminating us from having to use the key fob or alarm code on the Secure base). The Secure base also has battery backup in case it loses power or is unplugged, it stays connected to the sensors and internet (provided your router doesn't lose power as well).
