Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the Nest Secure Alarm System with Nest Cam Outdoor for its ease of use and high-quality camera. Many found setup to be quick and straightforward, resulting in a positive user experience. However, some users experienced challenges with the motion detection sensitivity and connectivity, particularly concerning false alarms and Wi-Fi connection difficulties. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use and camera quality outweighs the reported issues with motion detection and connectivity.

I really appreciate how well the Nest Guard works, it's fast, it's simple, it has great extra features (back up battery, cellular) my only complaint is that the volume is not adjustable whatsoever. The door chimes, and even notification voices are so quiet if there's any other noise, you won't hear it. The alarm itself is OK if you're near the unit, but overall it needs to be louder. Even if this is incorporating the sounds into Google Homes or other Nest products (like the protect) it needs to be louder. Because of this, if you don't have any other smart devices, I'd recommend checking out a different company. I had several Nest products already and wanted to keep the family together.

We have had this security system installed for a couple months now and love it! The camera is easy to install with great quality. The door/window sensors are easy to install as well and I like that they also act as a motion sensor. The keypad also has a motion sensor on it and will cover a great area in any room. Definitely would recommend this product!

I like the system but a flaw in motion detector using the camera, I get notifications 96% of the time saying motion detected using my lights on timers when the lights turn off.

My 13 yr old son is a sleepwalker, that's really why we bought this. More so to keep him in the house than to keep anyone out of the house. It was a breeze to set up and easy to use even after several sleepless nights. I can now rest knowing he will be safe at night! And has come in handy knowing when my kids get home/leave as it records the door senor activity.

I'll start by saying that yes the Nest system is more expensive than others, but it's well worth it. I had the entire system up and running within 45 minutes, including setting up a 3rd detect. My only reason for 4 stars is there's no time adjustment for the alarm to sound after it's triggered. It is set at 1m and cannot ne changed (yet, I hope), but the guard will give voice prompts that can act as an alert of sorts. I knew about this before my purchase but still pulled the trigger as we already have a Nest protect smoke/CO unit as well as a Google home.

There are MANY reviews online about this product, so I purchased it solely to try it out, with an eye on returning it unless it was a "perfect" fit. I had the unit in place for about 30 days, then returned it, I needed the scheduling and more consistent sensor behavior to justify the price, so maybe I'll get it down the road. I won't go into exhausting detail, many other reviews do that well, I'll only focus on the major areas that were good/bad for me. : GOOD: - Loud alarm (2600 sqft, placed centrally, we have 1st floor hardwood and ceramic tile floors, with a fully carpeted 2nd floor - no problems hearing with all doors closed) - Ease of setup (It was being introduced into an existing Nest environment - Hello, Yale, Outdoor Cam - it setup with no problem) - Package contents (the alarm plus the Outdoor Cam is a great package, especially with already having other components like the doorbell and another cam) - Base unit (It looks great, easy to read, great buttons, and I love that it's also a sensor) - Integration (no conflicts with other Nest devices, and it worked with the Yale to disarm the system upon entry) - Notifications (speedy on-phone notifications and emails, sent to multiple users with no noticeable delay) BAD: - Unable to schedule on/off (this is somewhat preferential, but for my needs, I needed it to be able to turn itself off at one specific time during the day, and there is no ability to schedule a time period) - Sensor inconsistency (there were more than a few times where I was in the detection area by a few feet and it failed to detect) - Sensor options (pressing the sensor to temporarily disarm is only useful if it's placed near your walking path; also, the base unit's sensor is in one direction only, and it doesn't have a very wide detection zone) - Sensor adhesive (not bad, but unexpectedly irritating: the adhesive strip on the sensor is extremely strong - be careful when placing, the paint will almost certainly come off the wall, maybe use scotch tape first or something to test the location)

This system was very easy to set up. The camera is very clear and easy to install. It does need power ran to it. The door/motion detectors are easy to install and wireless. The kit comes with two but you can add more as needed. That Guard unit set up very easily and working fine for a few days. Then it tried to update its own software and locked up. Seems this is a rare but known issue with a few units. BEST nailed me a new one and gave me an RMA to return the old one. I was very happy with how they gandered the replacement. The new one works fantastic and now serves at a “mini” so you can ask it to turn on the alarm of lower the temp on the best thermostat all by voice. I’m glad I bought it.

The alarm is easy to setup and use. Seamlessly links all your existing Nest products and cameras for added security. The key tags are easy to use and I like the ability to give out customized codes to family if they are house sitting.

I purchased the starter kit. The online installation videos on Nest's website make it very easy to follow the setup and installation of the base (brain) and all of the sensors. The system is very easy to activate and deactivate not only at the base, but also with the Nest App. The door/motion sensors are very cool, because they have the ability to "bypass" a door sensor (in case you need to let your pet out to do their "business" without having to deactivate the entire alarm system). All you have to do is press the button on the bottom of the sensor, and wait for the green light. Then open the door. To let your pet back in, just press the button again. The sensor re-arms itself each time the door closes. The sensors and base also have courtesy lights on them, so if you're walking around in the house at night, they'll shine an (adjustable brightness) path light for you. The alarm monitoring is done by Brinks Home Security, and is affordable. And once you set up a contract, Brinks activates a cellular back up, so if your wifi or internet goes down, you're still protected.

Nest Dectects can be placed on doors, and you can set it to dectect motion or turn the feature off. It’s a toggle in the app. I have turned this toggle off 20 times over the course of getting this system and it will never stay off. Resulting in several false alarms and headaches for my family and dog. After 2 hours on the phone with Nest support they still were not able to resolve the issue and refuse to understand this system has some serious bugs! Please fix this issue with the Detects! I don’t want it to pick up motion if it’s on a door!

The system integrated into my Nest/Google home echo system with no hassle. Added six more motion (Nest detects) to the system as well. Brinks is the monitor service you can get added at as a no contract.Have been reading they are a headache to deal with. But Instill have my original system and monitoring going reason have not add Brinks just yet. It’s 29.99 a month for monitoring or use the system as a stand alone alarm for on prem only. The voice could be louder as it’s capable to handle louder volumes but that sometimes/Google may be working to fix since seen many others with same complaint. But overall I would recommend the system.

Nest Secure is easy to set up and use, and it pretty much works as advertised. The detect units are nifty door sensor + motion sensor combo units, which is great. It all feels kind of laid back, though. Maybe it's the soothing voice that calmly explains that the front door got opened and that it will sound the alarm soon. Maybe it's the gentle fade-in/fade-out lights in pastel blue and green colors. It all feels so... not urgent. If you're looking for an alarm system that doesn't freak you out, this is a great choice.
