The first one lasted me just past the warranty period, and had unresolved 5Ghz Wifi issues. The second one seems to be working better, but have not had it for long yet.

Definitely not as nice in terms of build quality as the third generation Nest learning thermostat, but the price point is great with all the same features.

Quality Product, Check Compatibility

We had a nest at our first house and we loved it, but we ordered the Nest thermostat E and it didn't work as well. It turns out it wasn't compatible with out system, even though the instructions made it seem like it should've been and actually caused a short in our system. I still recommend nest products and we have a bunch, but just make sure your system is compatible.

Very little instructions, it will walk you through installation and that's it. Our device arrived with a dead battery, it has a micro usb port which can be used for charging. It turned on once to prompt us through the settings. It would not connect to our wifi(2G or 5G) indicated there was no power after connecting a common wire. Device stated it was compatible however it remained frozen on the home icon. I would not recommend the Next Thermostat E, after doing some research we will be purchasing an Ecobee system instead.

LOVED this thermostat for the first 4 months. Last week, I had to reset modem & google wifi router from an outage. Now, the Nest will not connect to wifi.
I have done EVERY suggested action and still nothing. When looking online, SO MANY people have the same issue. The interactive troubleshooter not only doesn't help but some of the actions don't even exist on the thermostat settings.
Some people were told they would get a new unit, but weeks later are still waiting.
I am not sure Google should be in the hardware business if they can't make something work with something as simple as a network connection.
BYW, google wifi has done NOTHING to give me better, faster or more complete wifi. My modem/router combo might even have been better.
