Fairly sturdy construction with metal frame and plastic back with no flex. The battery lasts about 6 hours of continuous heavy use. When first setup device, it ran sluggish. However with a factory reset, device runs smoothly. Good size for reading and web browsing. Can easily hold in one hand. The 4:3 aspect ratio is distracting when watching videos.

I would recommend this tablet for those who get excited for Google's newest OS. It's definitely a great buy but still isn't something as simple to use as an iPad. It's pure Google and hopefully android M, coming out his fall, will fix all the minor issues to keep the tablet running smoothly. I like to use my Nexus 9 extensively so I would say that my only con is that the battery life doesn't last so long. I usually carry an external battery to keep it alive after about 4 - 5 hours of intense use. But for me it's totally worth carrying around a battery if I know I can rely on this device. Definitely a worthy device but not so much for the non-tech inclined.

I purchased this tablet shortly after launch. . It is a very nice tablet but there were some issues at launch. .I believe that HTC corrected the problems.. there was light bleed issues button issues and a squishy back. .I believe that they were limited to the first few batches being produced. I did bring mine back because I suffered those said issues. .I love bestbuy they have a wonderful return policy.. now that he problems are fixed I well buy again

    Great tablet with manufacturing flaws

Love the tablet, but the manufacturer cut corners in the production, so I returned it. There are design flaws and poor quality construction issues with nearly all Nexus 9 units that were in the initial shipment from HTC. Light bleed, flexing of the back cover, power and volume buttons that are nearly impossible to press, etc. Once they fix these issues (and they allegedly already are), it'll be THE tablet to own if you're not into Apple's ecosystem. Android Lollipop is just a delight to use and performance was very good. I will get this tablet again once I can get the revised model.

I did not want an iPad so I have had to make do with screens that were just disproportional - too long, too narrow so when the Nexus 9 came along I found the screen size perfect for my needs. I am a bit disappointed that there is no place for a micro SD. Also, it is a bit pricey.

I preordered my N9 and received it much sooner than expected, so no complaints with delivery! This tablet is beautiful and feels great in the hands. I think the design is very nice (32 GB white) and even the much maligned buttons are fine on mine. I do have some light bleed on the screen however, so that keeps me from giving it 5 stars. I don't think mine is as bad as pictures I've seen of others though. I've never preordered a new tablet or phone before and don't think I will again because you get the flaws in the early units that get worked out in later ones. I also wish I'd waited because there have been discounts and special deals since I bought this one and I really think I overpaid. It's definitely overpriced considering the flaws in the screen with light bleed. Don't notice it all the time and the resolution and beauty of the screen is awesome otherwise... But still.... for the price it should have no flaws.

Best Android Tablet for Productivity! ..and games!

This is a blazing fast tablet with the slick, new Android 5 OS. Switching between apps is fast, Sheets, Docs, Drive, PicsArt, etc. all load fast and run fast. It feels allllmost like using a full computer! The thing that is lacking is with apps. That will catch up soon enough. There are still a few things that are best handled with a computer app. But it is very close! No problem churning through the most challenging games either. Asphalt 8 set to highest graphics runs no problem. I got the keyboard cover also and it works well and is very solid. It is a bit heavy though, basically doubling the weight and thickness compared with the tablet alone. For traveling, I use LapWorks Amigo folding keyboard. It's a full-size keyboard that folds to pocket size. Anyway, loving the Nexus 9! My wife has an Air 2 and I'd say they are very comparable, though the Air 2 has a little nicer camera. If you use Android, the Nexus 9 is the tablet to own!

I reviewed many tablets before finally deciding. As much as I wanted the apple iPad air 2 I didn't go with it because I have no other apple products. My cell is a moto x and everything synced beautifully with the google nexus. It's features are great and not overwhelming. I recommend the google nexus 9 to anyone who isn't goings with apple.

I've owned a Nexus 7, a Galaxy Tab, and three different Nooks, and none of them hold a candle to the Nexus 9. It's gorgeous, plays games like a beast, and the audio is perfection. My wife and I spend many a night curled up on the couch watching a movie or show while the kids play. This is the perfect size, and in my opinion, the perfect tablet.

Understand my comparison is against the 2012 N7. A good tablet with good performance overall. There are times when it'll pause a bit before carrying out an operation, but I notice this on my phone which also has lollipop so it could be more of a software issue. The screen is nice, but mine does suffer from some bleeding. Mine does not have the updated buttons that protrude out a bit more, but the response is not an issue for me. The tablet does what I need, namely play games, check emails and surf the web. For the latter two, it's overkill, for the former, it's great.

very lightweight, amazing screen quality and good camera. You can actually hold it with one hand in portrait mode. Android lollipop 5.0 is smooth fast crisp. I wish there was more aftermarket support for it for accessories.

I had the Samsung Galaxy Pro tablet, which I loved, except for not being able to write to a memory card due to KitKat restriction, rendering Dropbox uselss for my needs. Also, it didn't look like it was going to get the Lollipop update. So I decided to go with the Nexus 9. It's got a fast processor, beautiful display and enough storage (I went with the 32gb version). It has great sound quality (thank you HTC!). I love it for reading, watching Netflix and light gaming. The few things stopping me from giving it a 5-star rating is lack of SD slot and the battery drains faster than I would expect from a high-end tablet, but neither of these issues are deal-breakers.

    Switched from Apple

I have used my Apple iPad 2 for over 3 years, and it is now fairly crippled when it comes to doing anything that requires any processing speed. I made the decision to switch to Android and did a lot of playing on tablets in the store to see how I liked the interfaces that each brand provided. I knew I didn't like Samsung, as my husband has all Samsung devices and I don't like using them, and the Nexus had great reviews on multiple android sites. The interface is similar enough to Apple's iOS that it didn't take long to adjust at all. It has the same modern clean feel that I like, while actually being more intuitive. Swyping on the keyboard is one of my favorite features. So far I am very pleased with the battery life, as my typical usage is streaming music and shows on Hulu, in addition to some small games that don't require too much battery power. I'm surprised at how much I love this tablet and I am ready to switch my phone to Android now as well!

I've purchased every Nexus tablet, and I had really high hopes for the Nexus 9. I was excited for the 4:3 ratio display, because I knew that reading on it would be a huge improvement over my Nexus 7, which was maddening at times to read on. HTC and Google have priced this as a premium tablet, and unfortunately, it falls far short. The OS (Lollipop) is wonderful, and works beautifully. The Hardware build quality leaves a lot to be desired. The minute I turned the tablet on for the first time, I noticed atrocious amounts of light bleed. Light bleed is normal on LCD screens, I know that, but this is real bad, screams of a low quality panel. The power and volume buttons have almost no tactile response, and are nearly recessed into the chassis of the device. Simple browsing of the web drained the battery while the tablet was charging, and when the screen is off, the tablet charges at about 10% per hour, and I've gone to be with the tablet at 30% battery and woken up 7 hours later and the tablet isn't fully charged. There is so much to love about the software and the Google experience, but HTC really failed in the build quality, and I'll be (sadly) returning the tablet.
