Not Happy with the Overall Experience.

So, where do I begin: I was excited to have the Google Pixel 2 coming out. I stopped into Best Buy to see if they had any on sale, which they did. A member of the Geek Squad let me take a look at it. I currently have Total Wireless as my phone provider and asked if this was alright. The Geek Squad member informed me that this was alright. He said it was a Verizon phone and would just need to check to have it unlocked. No problem. I called Verizon, and they informed that the phone is already "unlocked" and should be able to use it. However, after transferring the phone to Total Wireless, the phone didn't recognize the SIM card. After sorting things out with Total Wireless, they informed that there shouldn't be any issues whatsoever on their end. Yet, my phone could only send text messages. That's it. No data, no pictures could be received or sent...nothing. The phone still wouldn't work with the SIM card. On top of this, the phone had an extremely obnoxious squealing and popping noise while using the phone to call someone and the fingerprint scanner seemed to not be functioning correctly. After hours on the phone and in store with Total Wireless, Verizon, and Google itself, I decided that the phone wasn't worth the trouble and would just bring it back. A different Geek Squad member asked me what was wrong with it while I was returning it, and I informed him of my issues with the phone not accepting the Total Wireless SIM card and the other little issues that came along with it. He said something to the effect of, "Oh yeah, the Pixel is only a Verizon phone. Total Wireless is really the bottom of the barrel and only puts their marketing into having people buy their plan. Sorry if you were misinformed." So, all-in-all, I was out $55, $35 of which was due to a re-stocking fee charged by BestBuy. A brief summary: Not happy. With the phone or BestBuy for giving me both misinformation (although I acknowledge not intentional) and the unnecessary comment regarding my choice in phone service providers.

Google was very helpful diagnosing the problem. BestBuy was not. Google had me inquire about exchanging the phone through BestBuy before initiating a replacement directly with Google. I called BestBuy and was connected to GeekSquad. They told me there would be a service charge for the exchange. Ridiculous. Asked to speak to a supervisor. The put me on hold and then disconnected me after 20 minute wait. Am currently waiting for replacement phone from Google. Read the fine print when buying from "Best"Buy (not).

Best camera out of all Android phones, however, battery likes blows like a blue whale. Random reboots. Phone runs hot (no joke). I like the fact that it has stock Android but phone itself is pretty ugly (looks like a toy phone you'd give to a toddler) compared to Galaxy or Note phones. Hardware doesn't scream quality like other phones. I'd hold out on buying this phone. 1.5 stars

Google had issues with the camera being hackable and released a security update to rectify this issue. The camera used to be amazing, and now it wont open, and when it does it it wont focus. If you do a websearch you will find hundrends of posts about. Take a risk if youd like, but i would no longer recommend this phone since the main selling point is the camera
