3 stars only due to too much bloatware.

Positives: Great screen, snappy performance. Decent battery life, but idle time battery consumption is not so great. I can see 5-8% battery drain overnight. Decent camera. But too much AI focused features. They should just give the option to click natural unprocessed pictures. Negatives: Too much bloatware. Example Pixel watch companion app, google TV, google home, google one, keep, news, apps are all eating space and reducing battery life. Google should not bundle all these apps or give a method to just uninstall these apps.

Screen is sharp and bright, fingerprint reader works perfectly, reception of calls and wifi have been excellent, battery lasts a long time, camera has amazing quality. Overall this has been an amazing phone. I haven't had any issues. Best Buy's trade in offer was unbeatable as well.

Not a whle lot different from the Pixel 8

Screen is definitely brighter, hardware feels a little faster. I traded in a Pixel 8 and although the trade-in is safer at Best Buy (I got a phone lost/stolen during shipping in a previous trade-in with Google), the process is inconsistent and frustrating. Same Best Buy store, I was allowed to use a a cable to move data over in a previous trade-in, this time I was not. In general, the Google/Android ecosystem is just less controlled and less reliable than Apple. The Find My Device settings disappeared when I moved over from Pixel 8 to Pixel 9. That was fixed after a 2-hour interaction with Google support. Location based Google Home personal routines stopped working because, somehow, they are tied to the Pixel 8 I trade-in. I'm unable to enter new location based personal routines either. Google support just doesn't know how to fix the issue.

    Loving Pixel 9

Been using the Pixel 9 and honestly… I’m kinda obsessed. The size is perfect — super handy, easy to use with one hand, and just feels great to carry around. The camera is a total win. I don’t even have to try hard; everything just comes out sharp and clean. Even quick snaps look like I put effort in. Perfect for random moments or baby pics. And the AI stuff? So good. It’s one of those things where you don’t realize how useful it is until you start using it. Photo editing, call screening, all those smart features just make life easier without me even thinking about it. Overall, the Pixel 9 has been such a pleasant surprise. Smooth, smart, compact, and honestly just fun to use. Loving it so far.

It is a game-changer! The sleek design feels premium in my hand, and the vibrant display brings photos and videos to life. The camera captures stunning images, even in low light, and the battery life easily lasts through a full day of use.

    Great software, poor hardware

The Pixel 9 is a solid phone compared to past iterations. I’ve used a Pixel 4a and 5a in the past, and the Tensor chip is an improvement from those devices with their midrange chips. The screen looks good, and the software customization options of the Pixel’s version of Android are very impressive (coming from someone who mostly uses iOS/iPadOS devices. However, the hardware is always the issue with Pixels. I didn’t keep my Pixel 4a or 5a for very long because of hardware issues, and the story was the same on this Pixel 9. First, the chip: Google’s Tensor chips are underpowered compared to current Apple and Qualcomm chips. Some apps are noticeably slower to open. I don’t know if this is a Tensor issue or an Android problem (Again, I’m used to iPhones). Battery life is pretty good, but again it’s held back by Tensor. This phone has a huge battery, but battery life is held back by Tensor’s inefficiencies. Performance isn’t terrible, it’s actually pretty good, but some apps are a bit slow or become frozen and have to be quit. Google keeps going up on the price of Pixels, which now match the latest iPhones and Galaxy phones, but the chip still isn’t there. Second, the fingerprint scanner: it works well… without a screen protector. Depending on the brand of screen protector you choose, it will either work pretty well, not well, or not at all. Google obviously can’t control the design of everyone else’s screen protectors, but I (along with others) had to order a bunch of different brands of screen protectors to find one that works. The capacitive fingerprint sensor from the older Pixels worked great, but they had to remove those so they could have a glass back on the phone. Last, the adaptive brightness: it is absolutely atrocious. Search Google for “Pixel adaptive brightness” and you’ll see page after page of people complaining about the Pixel line’s auto brightness going back several years. It’s been a problem for years. It’s a big reason I ditched my 4a and 5a, and pretty much the sole reason I returned this Pixel 9. It changes the screen brightness in such a jarring way rather than gradually. For some reason it turns the brightness way down in a brightly lit room for no reason, then after a few seconds it turns it back up. And it continually does this. Help articles and forums all say to adjust it and the phone will learn your preferences. It never does though. Of all the iPhones and the couple of other Android phones I’ve ever used, Pixels are the only ones that can’t figure out screen brightness. I don’t know if it’s the ambient light sensors or the Pixel’s software, but it’s insane and inexcusable that Google can’t figure it out. The software of the phone is great. I like Google’s software, but the hardware is a letdown.

I LOVE my new Pixel 9! Wasn't looking to buy, but my Pixel 7 had been giving me nothing but problems for weeks. After replacing the battery & screen, it would still only work sporadically. Hence the decision to purchase a newer one. The size of the 9 is a tiny bit smaller than the 7, the corners are slightly more rounded, but I love the way it feels and fits in my hand.

Software is smooth, comes with nice camera, calling features like auto spam blocking and hold for me are great. Device feels better in hand compared to last few years and is less slippery in general to hold which is a big plus
