Unable to connect two devices at the same time

I really wanted to give this 5 stars but when I compare these to other earbuds that are similar or less in cost - they just don't hold up. Most importantly - it's a real bummer that these do not have multipoint connection capability. Meaning, you cannot connect to more than one device at the same time. If I'm working on my pc and using the earbuds through my pc (for Zoom, webinar, etc.) and then I get a phone call, I cannot hear the phone or answer the phone. Likewise, if I'm using the earbuds through the phone, I must change the Bluetooth connection to my pc to take a zoom meeting etc., and then remember to switch the connection back to my phone so I don't miss a phone call. REALLY! Once you've used a pair that has this multipoint connection and appreciate this seamless transition between two devices (Jabra 75t), it's difficult to understand why Google were too cheap to include this feature. However, I'll be keeping the pixel buds because my work requirements to switch between devices are only a few times a day. Although, I grimace a little inside each time I have to switch. Also, the pixel buds are the most comfortable for my ears and even stay put comfortably when I'm exercising.

Top notch product. I love that I can keep my Pixel 5 in my pocket while walking and change songs on Youtube Music and adjust volume with my finger by swiping on the Pixel Buds. Great sound quality too. Great job as always Google!

    Does not work as advertised.

To start, I have been a Google loyalist since the pixel 2 came out, it is still the best phone I have ever owned and I was really excited to finally have a pair of wireless headphones that work with my device like Apple and Samsung have for their devices. Unfortunately, when I picked up my headphones and tried them for the first time they immediately cut out. At first I didnt panic, I read that some of the devices had this issue but that a firmware update was sent out to fix it and for the most part it had for many people. Except me. After doing everything I could to get the earbuds to connect properly with no luck I contacted Google support. They put me through the motions of resetting the device, turning off location services and automatic updates, disconnecting and reconnecting etc. This whole process took around an hour and nothing worked at all, every song or podcast I listened to would result in the device cutting out at different parts of the media. Even tried to reset my phone to see if that would do the trick. It didn't. It was very frustrating to spend $180.00 ($195.00~ after tax) on headphones that are advertised as a premium product designed to work seamlessly with my phone (Pixel 2 XL), just to have them cut out immediately on the first song I tried to listen to, as well as every song after that first one. Might seem funny to some but for me getting those headphones was a big deal, I don't have a lot of money to spend on nice things so I figured because of everything I read online and being a Pixel owner the Google Buds 2 was a guarantee for me to not waste that much money. On top of that the only store where I could pick them up was located nearly an hour away from me so I also wasted all that time and gas travelling to pick up the headphones. The reason I chose to pick them up instead of having them delivered is because I have a lot of trouble sleeping and often use headphones to help me fall asleep and headphones with wires is not ideal for that scenario, waiting the estimated 2-3 weeks was not ideal at all, and from what I could tell if I had them delivered I may not have been able to get a refund if they didn't work because of the amount of time that would have passed since the purchase date. Overall it was just a very unpleasant experience. Researching the issue it is clear that it is a widespread problem with the devices and that for a lot of people the firmware update isn't doing the trick, if they are lucky to get the firmware update in the first place place. Is it because I have an older generation phone? In which case if a device only works how it's intended for the newer phones I think it would be nice if that was clear before anyone spends the money on a device that does not work as advertised. While my phone is starting to slow down on me I still love my Pixel 2 XL, it's the best phone I have ever had, I've been a Google loyalist like many are to Apple or Samsung but this was a very frustrating and just unpleasant experience, I was planning on upgrading to the 4a when I saved enough money because I have always wanted the seamless bluetooth headphone connection with the device that the Pixel Buds 2 was supposed to provide. At the moment I am not sure what I will do but I just wanted to provide some feedback so someone doesn't make the same mistake I did.

I bought these in August 2020. It's February 2021. They totally stopped working. Tried all the fixes and nothing worked. They disconnect as soon as I take them out of the case. I never used them outside or anything. I'm 60 years old I use them in the house to listen to audiobooks. I have the geek squad warranty so we'll see how it goes tomorrow when I contact them. For the money I paid I hope they do right by me.

If you plan to use this while gps tracking a run or ride. Don't even bother buying these. I've used 5 dollar wireless earbuds that have less audio cut out and connection problems than these. Even if you don't, you'll still experience audio cut outs randomly while wearing them. And don't even get me started with one earbuds no longer connecting anymore out of nowhere

Google should be embarrassed these are still on the market. They drop out constantly. If you enjoy listening to music one beat at a time these are perfect - beat - silence - beat - silence... and so on. That's on the days that they don't just drop out and fail to come back on. Junk. Stay clear.

DO NOT BUY - THEY WILL BRICK THEMSELVES JUST PAST

I bought these because my ears are sensitive to ear occlusion. They worked great but they have a software defect. Do not buy. Left earbud went out and after I tried the resetting procedure it worked once. When the left earbud went out again and I tried the resetting procedure it basically bricked the earbuds. Bluetooth doesn't see it. It seems to respond according to the lights but it might as well not exist. This happened a month into owning them, conveniently after the 15 day return policy. If you own google hardware then you already know what I'm talking about.

    Cut out

Worst headphones I've ever owned... Bluetooth connection is horrible and I have a Pixel 3 which is designed for. They cut out horribly and constantly especially if you start walking around. Returned first pair and got a second pair and same issues.... Google had no idea how to fix it... Not worth the money.
