Google - Pixel Buds True Wireless In-Ear Headphones - Clearly White
For any headphone I always put sound quality and comfort as my two most import requirements. The Pixel Buds have a very natural sound at a low volume but they just didn’t impress with that WOW! you would expect. And at higher volumes the sound tended to get muddy. I think not supporting a high definition bluetooth sound codex is a strange oversight on Google's part. Setting the bass boost in the dedicated Android apps helps with the lows but I was missing the sparkle in the highs that gives you the dynamic range you expect in in-ear headphones at this price level. I ended up keeping bass boost off since it does affect overall clarity in the volume levels that sounded best for me. I will say the actual stereo separation was very good. I used the large eartips to get a good seal and prevent the Buds from falling out. Three eartip sizes are provided with the Buds. The fit for me using the large eartips was good but I would have liked a bigger selection to choose from. The two smaller eartips didn’t work for me and couldn’t hold the Buds in my ears. Since sound quality and comfort are very unique to each person it can’t be the two single features that define these Buds. One outstanding feature is the Buds case. It is quite attractive and feels very good in the hand. I easily got five hours of battery life playing music and taking calls. This left me with around 15% of the reported battery left before it was back in the case for recharging. The case supports a quick charge to the Buds so a 10 minute charge should give you another 2 hours of listening. I like that the case uses a type C USB cable and also supports wireless charging. Another outstanding feature is the touch controls which I found to work very well. Because of the design of the Buds the touch controls are very easy to access. You might need a little time to get used to them but simple gestures like swipe and tap worked flawless for me. Other Buds I have tried also might support some of these features but the Pixel Buds just seemed to work very well for me with just a little practice. The paring process was very quick and easy on my Galaxy S10. And once paired I was taken to the Google app store to download the dedicated Pixel Bud app. There you have a lot of control over most of the Buds features. It should be no surprise these Buds work well with Google’s Assistant. And the app gives you very good control over how you want to interact with the Assistant including removing that as a permission or managing its notifications. The Buds themselves have a unique look. I have the Quite Mint color which is an interesting color and they also come in, Clearly White, Almost Black and Oh So Orange, and no, I didn’t make these names up. One of the features I was most interested in is the real time language translation. I travel internationally and I am looking forward to putting this feature to more use. In my testing it seems to work very well and with a little practice I think this will be a great tool and a truly killer feature. I struggled with this review simply because the Pixel Buds are just amazing when you sum up the features available here which I can only touchon. You have full access to Google’s AI, a great physical design and phone companion and although I am not as impressed with the sound as I would like it is not bad. With my prior experience with in-ear headphones the sound can improve over time. I have found that early reviews of sound quality can be deceiving as expectations can be high. But later you may find the sound improves and you wonder how you got it so wrong. One thing is for sure, the Google Pixel Buds are an amazing bit of technology that provides a load of useful features you can use everyday.

Extremely terrible quality. Audio starts cutting out as soon as I step outdoors and no amount of software updates or resets seems to fix it. As much as it breaks my heart to admit, Pixel buds are inferior to Airpods and even Bose earbuds. Pixel has lots of catching up to do, and the way they're going with abysmal quality and bad customer service, I don't have a lot of hope.

After a couple of weeks with these buds, I'll say that I'm slightly disappointed based on the pre release advertising.
The good:
-Fit. They are light, and after finding the right rubber tip, twisting them into your ear makes for a very secure, comfortable fit. During a 2 hour bike ride there were times I had to feel that they were still in my ear.
-Touch controls. As long as you hit the spot without being able to see your ears and it works great. Combined with this is removing one earbud pauses whatever you're listening to.
Battery life: Unless you're running a marathon, a 2-3 hour workout and they still have at least 50% battery.
-Assistant integration is good.
The bad:
-BT connectivity isn't the best. When I have my phone in an armband on the upper arm, the connection breaks up very badly. Seems like it needs line of sight to keep connected reliably.
-Volume needs to be stronger at max. When turned all the way up, they put out nice sound, but with surrounding noise, they aren't loud enough. So this defeats the whole adaptive sound thing, if the max isn't loud enough.
-Only way to turn them off is to put them in the case, or turn BT off on the device. Not a big deal, but in the occasional time you need to turn them off while not having the case, the only option is to turn off BT on the phone. A bit weird.
I'll probably keep them, but I would like to try the Jabra Elite Active 75's.

Must Have for Any Pixel Owner

I'll start off this review with the bottom line. If you own a Pixel, do not even hesitate to purchase these. As far as I am concerned, these should be included in the box with the phone. Continue reading if you care to learn more about why I am saying this.
From the moment these are unboxes, the premium look and feel to the experience is evident. The egg shapes housing the buds call home, is made of a rough and easy to handle material. Everything feels extremely solid and well made. The "egg" is on the larger side due to housing a battery which is able to charge the buds on the go.
When popping open the top, you are greeted with the buds themselves. I my case, two mint green buds that resemble a candy like appearance. They are really a lot of fun to look at. One of the things that draws me to the Pixel line of product is often this initial feeling of "fun". The buds themselves are small and low profile in design.
If you have your Pixel phone near by, one the top is open, you are greeted with a "connect pixel buds" notification that IMMEDIATELY comes up. Clicking "connect" instantly pairs them and they are ready to use. Google calls this "fast pair" and it is quite a magical experience. These also work on iOS devices, though connecting them requires connecting them like you would a typical bluetooth. It also lacks all of the cool features which makes these unique. I'd stick to Android phones, especially Pixel phones for these.
While paired to the Pixel, you can check battery life and other features by either dragging down the notifications bar (to check battery life) or opening up the connected devices settings on the phone, so turn on or off specific settings, such as in ear detection (super nice feature), advanced audio, swipe gestures, etc...
I found removing the buds from the egg was a little challenging the first time, but once I performed this action a few times, you learn tricks to get them out easier each time. Placing them back in couldn't be simpler. They sort of "drop" back in and click magnetically in place.
Placing the buds in the ears is also very pleasant. You insert them, then sort of "twist" to fit. I found these fit very snug in my ears and after a second or two, I didn't even notice they were there. The rubber material is super soft and comfortable.
The overall audio experience is excellent. I found regardless of the media I was listening to, the Pixel buds replicated the sound perfectly. Highs, medium, lows, all came through. I found these to sounds more like an over the ear headphone vs. your typical ear buds. The rubber nubs that fit into your ears create a seal which helps with bass and noise cancellation, like an over the ear would. However, the small form factor and lack of pressure against your head, removed the negatives from larger over the ear headphones. Google has updated these since they released with a "bass boost" feature which enhanced bass if you like more of a boomy sound. I found this to be my preference and I found the "boomyness" of the sound very nice.
When making calls, these buds also didn't disappoint. These buds are equipped with a "Clear Calls" feature which has two beam forming mics which focus on your voice. There is an accelerometer which detects jaw movement so they know when your talking vs listening. When talking, the mic focuses on your voice and tried to. drown out background noise. Every time I asked "can you hear me ok?" I got replies "yes, you sound VERY clear".
These buds also have gesture controls for when on calls. When receiving a call, tap once on either bud to answer the call. To hang up, tap twice on either bud. Tapping twice also rejects a call if you don't want to answer.
When not on a call, gestures can also help you to do other things:
tap to play or pause music
double tap to skip a track or stop the assistant
tripe tap to rewind to go to previous track
swipe forward to increase volume
swipe backwards to decrease volume
on Android 6+ press and hold to speak to Google Assistant
These buds also have "sharing detection". You can give a bud to a friend (and they must be a good friend, because... well... gross in most cases). This will detect further distances from the buds and enable the feature. This allows gesture controls to be performed independently without affecting the other bud. Pretty cool on plane trips, or in areas where you cannot have the speaker turned onto the phone. Perhaps even a conference call situation where no other devices are present.
These buds also connect to Goggle's "Find my device" feature. You can ring the earbuds if they are close and can be picked up by the "Fast Pair" setting. They also will ping the location when paired, and if too far aways, will show you their last known location.
The buds support Google's "hotword" features. Saying something like "Ok Google" will initiate the Google Assistant when they are inserted into your ears. They also work with google translate to make language barriers even less of an issue if traveling a broad or to someone who cannot speak (or vice versa) native languages. I find this feature to be really cool, though I have not been able to really test this abroad, it works with my Spanish speaking friends well in tests.
The battery life on these could be better, but I found workarounds to make them last all day. For example. Talk time is about 2.5 hours per bud. If I am on calls all day, I put in one bud, talk for 2.5 hours, then swap for the other to keep them going all day. This works great for me.
Listening to other things like music, lasts about 5 hours. For this, I wanted both buds. So cycling for this task was less effective, but I don't typically listen to music, with buds in, for more than 5 hours, so this was fine for me.
Lastly, these buds are easy to charge. The buds have both wireless and UCB-C port for charging. I found the buds are able to charge while placed on the Pixel stand.
I very much have enjoyed the time spent with these buds. These are the ONLY headphones I would use with a Pixel device due to their tight integration and useful features. For iOS devices, I'd look elsewhere however. These are really "made by Google, for Google" and should be considered for that purpose. If you have multiple devices, being able to pair them in a more traditional way is super useful however.

Great audio!
Very comfortable!
Great that it doesn't block out outside sounds.
-Doesn't have the problem that the earbuds trap air in ear canals, causing air pressure discomfort and loud personal sounds (i.e. impacts during a jog, chewing)
Very easy to connect to devices and easy to switch devices through the transmitting device's Bluetooth menu interface.
Wonderful implementation of features.
-Google Assistant integration works very well
-Touch interactions are excellent ideas.
-Great implementation how the earbuds read notifications.
Bluetooth connection cut-outs are unpredictable, especially outdoors. (Never disconnects completely.). These cut-outs happen much more frequently out doors. They are rare indoors. This is a big flaw for a device whose primary role is to wirelessly receive and play audio, which is choppy when disconnects happen. For me, the features make it worthwhile, but users will have their own priorities.

After having a chance to check out the ones I got for my son I decided I needed a set of these. I've been pretty happy with them so far. They are pretty low profile when you have them in.
- The sound is pretty good, nothing mind blowing but solid. The volume is a little on the lower side, probably due to size and battery etc. Not disappointing but not super powerful. They come with three size tips to go in the ear, make sure to use ones that seal well as it's a big difference in the sound quality.
- The touch controls take a little getting used to, I've activated the notification dictation mode more than a few times just trying to adjust them in the ear. Like anything else you get used to it. Play/Pause, Volume, Last/Next Track, and Phone controls.
- The battery life has been decent, I got 4-5 hours of use but I've only run them down hard a couple times.
- The mic is excellent for calls and voice control. so easy to pop one in the ear to take a call. I've used them for calls with one in either ear and both ears. Sounds clear and I've received no complaints from callers. That said I've been using them indoors so I can't speak to the noise/wind cancelling abilities.
- Lastly they are pretty comfortable. I can wear them for a couple hours with no cartilage fatigue, but I have to make sure to fully seat them. I personally use them with the largest tips and I have med-large ears. I'm not deploying air brakes but not small either.. :)
All said these are a solid buy for the money. I have them paired with a Note 20 Ultra with no issue and my son is using his set with a Pixel 4XL.

First thing's first. I LOVE my Pixel Buds. They have fantastic audio quality. Music levels are well balanced despite the omittance of built-in equalizer settings. There is a choice for bass boost but I think they are better without it. The Pixel Buds have FANTASTIC call quality. Incoming sound was crisp and clear and the other parties all reported that I sounded fantastic. They are also very comfortable, and come in a sleek and premium feeling package. The touch controls and integrated Google Assistant work flawlessly. Much better than in any other true wireless headphones I have tried. The case is small and easily portable, but comes in a nice textured finish that is both comfortable to hold and open and easy to clean. Pairing is also a breeze. When connecting to my Pixel 4 XL, all I had to do was open the lid. My phone discovered them instantly without even opening my bluetooth settings and all sources point that this is the same with all android devices. They also switch instantly with my Lenovo Chromebook Duet, Pixel 4 XL and custom built gaming PC. All of that being stated, I cannot recommend these to everybody.
Aside from all the positives, they are riddled with issues that seem to plague most owners. Connectivity is perfect UNLESS you are doing anything other than sitting perfectly still. Even just putting your phone in your pocket and going for a walk there are pops and crackles and each headphone pops in and out. There's also a weird issue with phone calls where despite the volume setting on your phone, volume levels start off very low and will not go up unless you adjust the volume from the headphones themselves.
Google has promised to address these issues via software updates. However, several months after release the problems persist and seem to affect most, if not all, users. My fingers are crossed that it will EVENTUALLY be fixed. And while I personally feel the issues are worth dealing with, I know most people out there will feel otherwise.

The Google Pixel Buds are beautifully designed. Both the buds and the case are sturdy and clearly well-constructed. They feel like a premium product that I'm proud to own!
Since I have a Pixel phone, setting up the Buds was a cinch. The touch-based gestures are more intuitive than I imagined, and I really love the Google Assistant integration. Google has committed to regular firmware/software updates, and has already made good on this promise. Right out of the box, I got notice about a firmware upgrade that fixed some connection issues and also added a bass boost.
The biggest concern I have is related to the Bluetooth connection for non-Pixel phones. Specifically, I have run into a number of issues connecting my Buds to a Windows 10 laptop. I've experienced no issues with one-way audio (like, simply listening to music or watching a video on my laptop). The concern arises with two-way communication use (like Zoom, or Skype). On a regular basis, my Buds will randomly disconnect in the middle of a Zoom call, about 10-15 minutes in. Sometimes, they'll disconnect completely. Other times, the Bluetooth menu will claim they're still connected. After some troubleshooting, I believe this to be a bug with the Buds, as I have no issues connecting to my laptop via Bluetooth with any other devices.
In this COVID era of working remotely, the connection issues are a huge disappointment. It was the biggest reason for my purchase. That said, I still rate the product at four stars just because of how seamlessly they work with my Pixel phone.

The Google pixel buds that I got are actually the mint colored ones.
Out of the box you get the earbuds, the charging/carrying case, USB-C charging cable, extra silicone bud attachments, and documentation.
Pairing was as easy as turning on the bluetooth on your phone, holding the pairing button on the back of the charging case, and then pressing the connect button on your phone, and done. That simple.
I immediately tried it with some music. The bass levels are pretty good. They aren't great, but they're noticeable. I maxed out the volume, and it never got to a point where it hurt my ears.
I next tried it with a nice action movie, and all the sound effects sounded crisp.
Of course I had to try it out on a call. I called a friend and told her that I wanted her to tell me how my voice sounded, and she said that it sounded clear without any distortion. The mic did a great job of canceling out some of the background noise (My air filter) and I was able to hear her without any distracting noises.
There are some features in regards to touch controls. outer green buds offer touch controls that raise and lower volume, accept calls, play and pause music/or movie.
You can also use Google assistant if you have an Android phone or an iPhone with Google assistant installed.
The case is nice and sturdy. It has some weight to it. It doesn't feel cheap in any way. The earbuds themselves go back into their housing with a nice magnetic lock to them.
The case also has a nice magnetic lock when you close them.
All in all the Pixel buds are an excellent wireless headphone option for anyone looking for a nice hands free experience for work, fitness, and relaxing.
The only gripe I have is that they're not noise canceling.

These earbuds are amazing when it comes to function. Sound quality is pretty good (not a lot of base), but they are definitely the post-child on how touch and touch free controls should be done.
Battery life is solid, fit is pretty good (although they can be a bit challenging to get in correctly, but once they're in, they're very comfortable, and don't easily come out.
What I really love about them is the touch controls. Swipe forward/back for volume, single tap for play/pause/answer/hangup, double tap for next track, triple tap for previous track, long-press/release will read you new notifications, long-press-hold invokes google-assistant voice commands.
And, they also have hands-free OK GOOGLE detection. You can enable the "OK google" wake phrase, without touching the buds at all. You can then give it any google command ("what's the weather", "what time is it", "next track", "previous track", etc.).
They are a great bargain.

I needed something other than white or black. I am not have any problems right now so will edit if i have problems. the update went ok and they paird quickly with my android phone. they fit good for my ears for now and have not fallen out. i have not tried taking them out side for walking around yet. have not experienced cut out problems yet. so far i like them. the only thing i believe is that they are priced alittle too high. but again companies like to charge more to let people believe it is a premiumn product.. it is nice but wish price was lower. i got them on sale. i like them alot for now. thanks

Ordered online 5/31. Received by home delivery on 6/4 and returnable until 6/19. I write this on 6/10 so I've been giving them a good workout and so far, I'm really pleased with my purchase!
Buds are comfortable to wear for extended periods of time and the sound quality is excellent. I tried all 3 bud sizes in each ear and ended up liking the large ones. I'd suggest using the largest size that fits comfortably for you as that isolates outside noise the best. Key to excellent audio quality I've found, including best bass response is to turn the buds in your ear counter-clockwise in the right ear and clockwise in the left ear as that places the speakers deeper into your ear canal. They sound just as good as some wired Sony Extra Bass earbuds I have. Not as good as over the ear headphones, but what do you expect?
The case is pretty cool and it charges the buds quickly. Also, the case itself charges pretty rapidly as well, even using a Qi wireless charging pad.
I've used them 3 times now during 18 hole rounds of golf with one bud at a time. The right bud seems to last longer than the left one. I did one bud in my right ear once and it lasted the entire 4 hour round and still had about 30% charge remaining. When I've done the left bud, one time it was down to about 16% after about 3 hours, so I put it back in the case and used the right one the rest of the round. The other time I used the left one, it made it to the 18th hole before beeping a warning that the battery was low.
Are they perfect? No. I haven't experienced any hissing sounds that some people have complained about. I have had an occasional sound breakup or disconnection from my Pixel 2 phone, but thus far, it's been quite manageable as it hasn't happened often enough to be a real nuisance. I'd say for me, mine work just fine about 95% of the time and supposedly on their Google Community, it says that they should be rolling out a software update to reduce or eliminate this problem.
I've also paired them with my PC a few times without any issue. I've used them on 3 phone calls now and everyone I've talked to hasn't had any problem hearing me.
Google Assistant works great most of the time. You enable it by either using the OK Google/Hey Google command or pressing on one of the earbuds and speaking. Gestures are pretty intuitive and work well. You can check notifications without having to open up your phone which is nice.
So I have about 9 days remaining to decide if I'm going to keep or return them, If they keep performing the way they are now, they're definitely keepers!

Pros:
SUPER easy setup
Fits snug, but still comfortable for a couple hours
Really great sound
Touch controls are the best I've used on earbuds
Buds charge extremely fast in case
Must have if you're a Google Assistant user
Cons:
Have some connectivity issues from time to time
Can be the smallest bit cumbersome to switch between devices
As far as the "adaptive sound", I have yet to notice it working... but maybe that's a really good thing? It's so adaptive I may not notice it?
I've had them for about a month, and I'm really pleased so far!

I Love Looking Like I Have Mentos in my Ears

So I wasn't even going to buy these, but my Powerbeats Pros started to give me some kinda dermatitis in my ears. I found out I was allergic to the material used...so time for some new earbuds!
I am an owner of a Google Pixel 3a XL, so I thought these would be a good match. The buds also kept receiving some decent reviews, with the only complaints being the buzzing (do hear at times, but doesn't bother me), and the lack of bass (I had Powerbeats Pros and while they are weaker than the Powerbeats Pros, it's nothing I'm sad about). I do notice they don't get as loud as my Powerbeats Pros, so if you like volume that could make you become partially deaf by the time you're 45, then the volume level on these may not be for you.
I listen to a wide range of music (from Metal to KPOP, Reggaeton to Classical), and I've been pretty pleased with the sound quality. I have not had any drops in connectivity like others have claimed, and I have had them for nearly a month now. I've listened to them in my apartment and have gone on walks, taken them to the grocery store so weirdos don't talk to me, and thankfully I've never lost connectivity when I need it most. This frequently happened to me with my Powerbeats Pros when I was outside.
I have very small ears, so some earbuds are just too heavy or make me look like an alien because of how big they are, and these are just the right size and fit snugly in my ears (even if it looks like I have mentos in my ears...but I love mentos). The little wing seems to be pretty versatile, since it looks like it is used differently for where it hits inside a wide range of ear sizes. I've seen in lock into certain areas/folds of the ears for other wearers/reviewers, but for me it just kinda makes the fit tighter.
I haven't used the Google Assistant as much as I could have if I was traveling like I usually do during the summer, but it is kinda cool and convenient to have it read my texts to me when I don't want to grab my phone. I could see this being very convenient for those who want to limit the amount of things they touch during this pandemic (or just don't want to take out their phone because they're lazy like me).
I'd recommend them, but it does seem that I've been pretty lucky with my pair of Pixel Buds when it comes to connectivity and any kind of software issues.

Bought these in 2021. They sound great, hold a long charge, and are comfortable to wear. Would buy again .

Headphones sound great and are super easy to work with. The touch controls are intuitive and work great. I love the case and how it keeps them charged so easily. You can even keep one charging and listening to a single bud if you're running low. Only caveat is switching between devices. It doesn't always switch automatically and I have to manually reconnect. Otherwise they work perfectly. I've always had trouble getting earbuds to stay in my ear, but these fit in perfectly and don't fall out even while active and running.

Pixel Buds are okay, but not great. I've had them a month so far.
Pros: good sound, comfortable, touch controls, phone (Pixel 5) shows power remaining for each bud and also for the case, microphones work really well.
Cons: one bud stops connecting every week or two requiring repairing to my phone, flaky connection when outdoors and it's windy, uses power twice as fast when Google Assistant setting is set to listen for "hey Google" (which is the default setting).

I have been using these for about a month and half now and have been quite pleased with them. They pair really easily and work really well with my pixel 4xl. The sound is good and they fit really well in my ears. Only issue i had for a little bit was a known issue with the buds, the sound would drop playing music. Other then that they have been great for phone calls and the battery lasts for a while. Even using one at a time the battery life is extended.

Great Ear Buds! They Fit in great. And have really good audio for the price. They pair easily and have a good battery life with quick charge technology. The pros are ever so much better. But the normal ones for the money are a very good bang for the buck. Have good sound quality.
