Best Deal for Action Camera

I've had a HERO4 for awhile now and finally decided that I needed to upgrade. My old GoPro had this little quirk where it would just...die. Mid-ride. Every single mountain biking trip. Very frustrating, very inconvenient. This bundle comes with everything I need to keep riding and relive the moments right out of the box - dual battery charger AND extra batteries. It's a great starter kit for pretty much anyone that wants to upgrade their GoPro or wants to start vlogging. Everything's included, so you can't even use "I need accessories" as an excuse not to use it. The image quality and stabilization is a night and day difference. I actually remember what my mountain biking footage looked like before and it was nauseating. The best part is I found out from a Best Buy employee that it's now waterproof without a separate housing!! This is still one of my favorite brands and it's crazy how they can keep pumping out quality with 5.3K60 video and 27MP photos in something the size of a deck of cards. Setting it up was super easy too. This upgrade was a game changer from my old HERO4 GoPro and I am very satisfied and impressed with this bundle. Loads of value for a great price.

A nice camera. The only problem is that it will only record a half hour at a time before overheating and shutting down. I bought it to record a 2 hour concert. I missed a lot of what I wanted to video. I had to keep starting the record button it kept turning off.

GoPro is pretty much the standard bearer for action cameras. They continue to innovate with more and more features and camera settings. I was happy to see some of the improvements and feature sets on the new GoPro Hero 13 Black.
For me I love that there are a ton of available accessories and that continues to grow in numbers and functionality. I was really excited to see the optional GoPro snap on lenses and filters. There are also a plethora of third party accessories. All of the mounting accessories that I had for my old GoPro Hero are still compatible. I've got suction cup mounts for car action videos and a telescoping selfie/tripod stick. I still ride my upright bike so the handlebar mount is useful and when I'm on my tadpole recumbent bike I use the helmet and handlebar mounts for different views during my video captured rides.
It's also waterproof up to 30 feet deep but deeper you will need to use a waterproof housing. Fortunately my older GoPro housing fits the Hero 13.
There are books out there that tell you how to get the most out of the GoPro cameras but if you are planning on getting one make sure it covers the GoPro Hero 13 Black since this camera has a ton of new features. I'm still going through Youtube videos on how to use this amazing camera.
One of the newer features is burst video mode for great clips. While they are short they do produce some really good effects. Slow motion settings can give you really smooth videos when you set to higher frame rate. Time lapse has been available for a long time and several years ago I used it to record our road trip on historic Route 66 with great results. HDR color gets you vibrant colors on your videos and stills. I've done a few videos of my dogs playing in the yard and chasing squirrels and it's fun to see the results while playing with different settings.
They took GPS out of the 12 and some of the 10's and 11's but added it back in the 13. I haven't really used the feature but I've seen some results with overlays using the GPS data. I can see that on while track racing, or bike rides and hiking trips.
Voice control is especially useful. It's nice to be able to take stills and start and stop videos. There is a list of available commands when you go into the settings and enable voice control. Funny thing is while watching a how to use video on Youtube my GoPro was reacting to commands that the tutorial creator was giving. I'm going to use this feature like crazy.
GoPr3o Quik App (free version but subscription necessary if you want more powerful software features). You can edit videos on your phone or tablet with the Quick App but also online on your PC. Speaking of the phone app... you can also have some control of the Hero 13 on your phone and I especially like the video preview on the phone. This comes in real handy when using mounts outside of your car. You can fine tune the lens view and tweak a tilt or swivel to get the right field of view.
I don't know what they could add to the next model but no doubt AI will be included since everything seems to be going that way.
A solid buy if you are looking for a great, feature packed action camera.

Best value kit for non-stop shooting

The latest bundle from GoPro is the GoPro HERO13 Black Extended Power Bundle that includes the HERO13 camera, 3 Enduro batteries with dual battery charger, curved adhesive mount, mounting buckle, 64GB SanDisk microSD card, 2 USB C cables for data transfer and battery charging. Comparing with the previous gen HERO12, the HERO13 has some design changes and added features to accommodate the new mount option, battery and the add-on lenses.
The setup is very simple. Download the GoPro Quik app and it will guide you with options. Make sure you download and update to the latest firmware for best experience. For an action camera, the build quality is amazing and is enclosed in a rugged case that can withstand any adventure conditions. HERO13 captures the action with detail in 5.3K resolution and stunning photos up to 27.4MP from the recorded video using the Quik app. This camera also works with HB-Series interchange lenses which expand your shooting possibilities.
HERO13 comes with HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilization that provides improved image stabilization over the previous model and ensures your video is smooth irrespective of the condition and reduces image cropping. The video recording has various shooting options like slow motions, HDR, widescreen, vertical, full screen, etc. The rugged camera can be used in any condition and withstand up to depths of 33ft/10m in water. If you want to use it for diving, then you might need to buy additional accessories to support that.
The new design of HERO13 also gives you more versatile mounting options. The magnetic latch offers quick swapping between different mounts. GoPro supports mounts for various activity, including support for tripods and standard camera accessories. The camera is equipped with GPS which captures additional telemetry data that can be overlapped on your videos using the Quik app. If you have multiple HERO13 cameras, you can wireless synchronize the recordings for multi-camera view using the camera timecode.
Coming to the battery, the HERO13 comes with a new design and higher capacity battery for efficiency and longer runtimes. GoPro rates the new battery at 2.5 hours of continuous recording at 1080p, although this battery is not compatible with previous models. This bundle comes with 3 batteries and a dual charger, which charges the battery sequentially. This is a game changer as it significantly increases the shooting time on the go.
The camera is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 which means you can transfer to your phone fasters. There is also a GoPro subscription if you would like automatic cloud backup and access it from anywhere. I wish there are more options for cloud backup since everyone pretty much has one of the cloud subscription these days. Overall, this is a great bundle for someone looking for a complete kit to shot travel, action/adventure, all day content.

Excellent Camera Choice

I think Go Pro Hero 13 Extended Power bundle is the Go Pro you will need if you are into visual storytelling, sports or just life vlogging as they used to call it. The Extended Power bundle is definitely the right version of the HERO13 I have gotten. As you probably know it solves the biggest pain point of any action cameras - battery life while giving you a ready‑to‑shoot kit that doesn’t require extra purchases. With this set you are set!
Let's break down what you get and some specs.
- GoPro HERO13 Black camera (obviously)
- 3 Enduro batteries (each features 1900mAh high‑performance)
- Dual‑bay battery charger (absolute must for this set)
- 64GB SanDisk microSD card (a little skimpy on storage, however the media is so affordable you should pick up at least 256GB and up)
- Camera case (nice to have for convenience, storage and transportation)
- Curved adhesive mount + mounting buckle + thumb screw (varies by retailer)
- USB‑C cables (always good to have)
So as you could tell this bundle is designed to keep you shooting for hours without swapping gear or worrying about power.
As always this little camera is packed with powerful specs.
You get a nice sensor and image quality thanks to these:
- 1/1.9" sensor (for improved dynamic range and low‑light performance)
- 5.3K60, 4K120, 2.7K240 video capture (provides variety of shooting dimensions)
- 27MP photos + 24.7MP frame grabs from video (excellent photo quality in my testing)
This GoPro is weatherproof and I had no issues using it on ski slopes or in any hot environments (did a quick test in a home sauna with temps ranging from 110-130F for 30 mins). The batteries supplied with it are also optimized for any kind of weather and I saw no degradation in performance under cold conditions (my environment was around 32F most of the day).
So what is the verdict here. If you own GoPro 12, stick with it. The 13 is nice however it is not worth upgrading. Its strengths are also similar however I must mention the outstanding stabilization (HyperSmooth 6.0) and video quality are definitely noteworthy in 13. Another feature to highlight for the GoPro 13 is its support for the new HB‑Series Lenses. I think they truly have a lot of potential and add real creative flexibility.
So I would say the Hero 13 is a meaningful upgrade for creators who want lens mods, better stabilization, and longer battery life. Also the price is right and if you are just starting out POV storytelling or are into sports or simply want to record good quality video, the GoPro Hero 13 should be your pick.

Tiny but packs power, extra power for longer runs

The GoPro Hero continues to grow in strength and usability; the latest changes and updates looks like it is headed more towards an AI direction and increased mobility availability options without the need for a dedicated machine. Through the use of “Smart Lenses” for auto detection anytime a lens or filter is swapped, the unit detects and applies the settings to itself accordingly. The unit does come with a Wide-Angle Macro Lens with auto focus. Video stability continues to get better as hardware continues to develop and software changes. As of right now, this tiny toy supports a resolution of just over 5K. The added GPS overlay give you real-time location recording during use. The built-in WiFi is in the current iteration for gen 6 WiFi to allow faster transfers between device to mobile or dedicated system (if utilized). The mounting options is always one of the items most users as well as myself struggle with. In this case, they’ve found a way to make it easier to changeover or swap to the current activity you’re invested in based on your needs and gear. Speaking of activities, this is water proof also as long as you have all of the openings and covers placed appropriately according to the specs. Not something I toy around with as I tend to stick the water and power do not mix rule set while limiting the amounts of rain exposure. Battery seems to last ~3 hours per battery. Setting up the GoPro is easily done through their app to include attaching the included wrist lanyard. One final note for anyone that purchases this, there is an initial update required prior to first use and may take a little extra time depending on the SD Card format.

Reliable Power and Impressive Video Quality

I've been using the HERO13 Black Extended Power Bundle for a couple of weeks for outdoor use and for recording short clips with my family. The HERO13 Black has performed very well. The first thing I noticed was how complete this bundle is. With multiple Enduro batteries and a dual charger included at the start of your experience, you'll appreciate having them available to use on longer days without having to think a lot about battery management.
Overall, video quality is exceptional, especially when filmed in 5.3K. Video looks sharp without looking overly processed. Stabilization of the video footage is excellent even on bumpy terrain. I used this camera while biking and walking on uneven ground, and the horizon remained very level.
Although low-light performance may not be what you would hope for, it does sufficiently manage low-light conditions. You should remain conscious of how much ambient light you have available at night because you will still need some to get good footage.
The mounting system is also much more versatile than older HERO camera mounting systems and allows for quick and easy changes between mounting configurations. While voice command functions are very useful, they can be hit or miss depending on the amount of noise in the area when you first say your command.
Even though it does have strong battery performance for an action camera, recording videos at the higher resolutions will deplete the battery more quickly, which is normal.
The Quik application is a convenient tool for creating highlight videos and provides basic editing functions, but it does have some performance issues and can be very slow to load sometimes. Overall, I find the HERO13 Black to be an extremely capable and useful camera that is built with durability and thoughtfulness in mind. It's not without some flaws, but I believe consistently it provides very high-quality video. And I find myself using this camera more often than I anticipated I would.
