Customers often highlight the Karma Grip's video quality, stabilization, and ease of use. The gimbal and its compatibility with GoPro cameras are also appreciated, along with the added benefit of charging the GoPro while in use and the inclusion of a protective case. However, some customers have expressed concerns about its battery life, price, motor noise, and size, as well as the fact that it is not waterproof.

I bought this for use on my bike, but I would have needed the backpack as well. Also, this will not work with any other Hero without an adapter that is currently not available. So you must purchase the hero 5 in order to use. I took it back due to these few reasons.

This makes a world of difference when filming. Now the shake that's so common with the gopro is eliminated! Love it!

I might have gotten a lemon of an item so please keep that in mind. I had issues from the minute I attached my GoPro Hero5. The camera wouldn't respond beyond a USB input for quite some time. Once I did get to recording the upgraded microphone on the 5 picked up all the motion of the arms. I had issues with the buttons and randomly the arm would start moving as if I hit the tilt. It went on like this until I would hard reset. It might have been the unit itself being defective - but I didn't want to fight with another unit. I just returned it and got some other accessories. Overall, this is a great item, if it works for you. It's also a great step forward. Just needs a bit more work IMHO.

Nice Accessory to the Hero5

Only reason I bought a GoPro Hero5 was because of the Karma Grip. I was close to buying a DJI OSMO, but wanted the durability of the GoPro as well as not risking my smartphone to damage.
So far I'm liking the Karma Grip. Nice and smooth movement, easy to use, durable, quiet (no motor noise) and weather-proof as I was expecting. Also the large widely spaced buttons allows for easy use with gloves on. Can't wait to get it out on my Mountain Bike where wash-board and rocky surfaces used to make for some pretty nauseating videos.
While it does lack some of the features of the OSMO, I knew this going in, so no surprises that it didn't have a "joy stick" button to "steer" the camera. Initially the "Shutter Button" did not start/stop video recording but worked for all other functions. This was simply remedied by downloading the latest firmware for the Hero5 via the GoPro app "Quik".
A review I read prior to buying the Grip was that the gimbal's "arm" was blocking the view of the Hero5's display. It only does this to a small degree at certain angles but you can still see 90% of the screen. And this only comes into play if you are hand holding the grip and trying to get more of a typical video of someone or something. If its mounted to you and are going for the FPV like you normally would with the GoPro camera its a non-issue.
There are a couple "minuses" in my book; Charging time is long. I haven't run the Grip's battery completely out but its taken hours to re-charge. Wouldn't be a problem if the battery lasted say 4-6 hours, but at roughly 2 hours of use its not simply enough time and you have to be very selective in when you decide to turn the Grip off and on. I'd rather turn it on and forget about it till the SD card is out of space or the battery is low hours later. I'd rather deal with editing post-production.
The battery - I would like to have seen an "interchangeable" battery to extend the usefulness of the Grip. Someone suggested just buying the Grip itself minus the Gimbal. At around $99 for the just the grip portion, its an expensive idea but when compared to Drone specific/proprietary batteries, its not a bad price or option. Although it does mean another large item to put in your backpack...
In the end I think it does the job it was designed to do; stabilize and smooth out your FPV videos. Again, its also rugged as you couldn't or wouldn't take/use the OSMO the way you'd use the Karma Grip. While I've only been in the snow with it, the real test will come this spring/summer when I can get out with it on my Mountain Bike.

This is GoPro first attempt at a Gimbal. It is a great stabilzer but I did extra research and learned that the battery life was only about 90min and there are sound issues so I returned.
