Be sure and check to see if yours fits. I didn't know different cameras were different sizes. This case didn't fit my camera. May switch to ION camera.

Very helpful so you can keep the unit plugged in for long periods of time

So I love GoPro but hate the fact that it comes with a waterproof housing. I need access to the ports for audio and charging purposes so the waterproof case/housing is too much, so the Skeleton Housing is perfect. Offers the same protection, less waterproof capability, and allows access to the ports. It would be cool if GoPro just sold the camera for less or allowed the customer to choose which case works best for them. I think they started this on the Hero4 line...

GoPro - Skeleton Housing comes in black or clear versions. You will need this skeleton housing in favorable weather conditions for quick battery change outs or to access HDMI and Mic outputs while recording. This housing is not weather proof but does provide some protection from the elements, bugs, etc...

Looks and works just like factory GoPro housing, only about 1/3 the price or less. Package arrived wrapped well and both housing work perfectly and really cannot see difference between these and my original GoPro housings. I will definitely buy again from this supplier!!!

I am a fisherman and I set my GoPro up to record during the day but I always struggled with keeping the battery charged. This housing offers me the opportunity to keep my GoPro charging while recording and keeps it protected from the environment as well. Great product!

The skeleton housing has an open slot so you can you plug in a mic adapter so a better quality of audio can be gained. Not waterproof.

If you want to use an external mic or external power.... you need this case. I've seen people drill holes in the original case but that will cause it to not be water tight... I prefer this case and I'm happy with the purchase but it was a bit pricey.

Did exactly what we needed. Best sound out of all the cases but still plenty of protection if we dropped it. Definitely recommend

Case works great for inside use, that is not exposed to weather and allows you to plug it in, so that it is always powered up.

I wanted a protective case that allowed access to the ports on the side. This suits the need perfectly.

Bought a skeleton chassis from Amazon, and although it fit the GoPro Hero 4+, it was larger than the GoPro version. With that you cannot use the other backs. Plus the Amazon version was clearly for a 3 or one that did not have a LCD back, as it had a black foam piece that obstructed the view. I was not excited about paying the very steep GoPro premium for the name, but once you commit to buying a GoPro you're kind of stuck..

This is a great protective case for a GoPro. Don't be confused: this case will not protect your GoPro from water or other extreme conditions. This is just a case to protect your equipment from bumping and dropping. It has a great feeling and serves its purpose well.

Using the skeleton case to allow mounting on the windshield with a power cable attached so that I don't have to worry about battery life. I have the LCD display attached, so battery life was a problem previously. Also allows me to remove the memory card without removing the camera from the case. Great solution to a number of problems.

This mount allows for the microphone to pick up sounds better than the waterproof mount. Little pricey for what it is.

I needed a case that captured the sound as well as the picture and when recording video indoors say for instance musical concerts and meetings this is the best case to use because the sound is clearest.

This case offers good protection for your GoPro camera and still able to get decent sound quality.

The main reason I would recommend this housing over the standard one is the sound quality, as this allows the GoPro unit to pick up sound MUCH better. The added benefit of having access to the mini-usb and card slot is an added bonus...

This skeleton housing not only protects the GoPro but the side openings provide a far more fluid recording of sound than the the non-waterproof housing provided in the packaging. Its great for doing videos that audio recording is needed.

I somehow lost the skeleton case for my new gopro hero 4. But I was glad I was able to just purchase this by itself. It is on the pricey side for just the skeleton but all of the gopro accessories are like this. Overall it was good
