This scooter does not drive on gravel or grass. It takes a long time for a full charge. Charge time is not very long if you go full speed. Again, only drives on smooth concrete and pavements.

Go Trax XR Lite Scooter - Very Disappointing.

I was excited to receive the GoLabs XR LITE Commuting Electric Scooter, as soon as it arrived, I had it charging ready to go. I need to preface that I have other Go Trax Scooter models and they are so much fun, so I had no hesitation ordering this XR Lite model for my son.
The specs on the box suggest that this will be a decent scooter, 12 mph top speed, 5 mile range, 5 hour charging, air filled tires, all very common features - the speed and range were a little lower than my previous scooters, but being an XR 'Lite' model, I expected that.
Well, after charging it for the first time, yes, it did take about 5 hours to charge, I went down my driveway and headed up the street. First thing I noticed was how jarring the ride was. Every bump, every join of the concrete pavement vibrated through the handle of the scooter. This scooter has solid rubber tires, and not the 5.6" air filled tires it mentions on the box. That vibration goes all the way through the scooter and makes it shake and rattle, making it very uncomfortable to ride, especially compared to previous models.
Let's go on to the top speed - I live at the top of a very low angle hill, but something perfect to ride down and pick up momentum. I am about 215lbs, within it's weight threshold, and even going downhill, I was not able to achieve the max top speed of the scooter. I got up to 11.6 mph and that was it.
Range - literally, what range. From a full charge, I got nowhere near 5 miles out of it. I went around the block twice, and up and down the street about 5 times. My son rode on it for a short distance, we would be lucky if we even went two miles, let alone five miles. The battery indicator has 4 segments on it, and as soon as it got down to the last segment, the scooter went into a 'limp' mode, and would not go above 3 mph, slowing down all the way until I was able to roll back up to my driveway.
The braking - the previous Go Trax scooters I have utilize a standard brake lever, and a disc brake system. This scooter while it claims to have a mechanical brake, has a lever like the accelerator lever, and it doesn't feel intuitive or give you confidence in the braking. Made me nervous having my son ride it.
Features - It has a nice fold away design, where you can release a lever, clip the handle into the rear splash guard and carry it. It isn't that heavy, so easy to carry around. It has an LED headlight that you can turn on and off with a single press of the power button. It has a rubber grip mat on it to ensure you won't slip off easily - however, ours was not installed correctly and had a large air bubble in it.
Overall, I wanted so much to like this scooter so the whole family can go out together and ride for a while, but with its harsh ride on those solid tires, poor range, poor battery life and so-so top speed, this scooter really is very disappointing.

E Scooter for Light Riders

This is the first electric scooter I've had a chance to ride and was so excited the day it arrived. The GoTrax XR Lite is touted as a "commuting" electric scooter and I think it willl serve that purpose for a certain rider. The sccoter was well packaged and easy to set up, essentially just 2 screws need to be removed to install the handlebars onto the tiller tube and then re-installed to finish the build. The propoer tool is included with the scooter kit. That's basically it, it's ready to go in about 5 minutes.
Once unboxed and built, GoTrax recommends charging the scooter to 100% with the included charging cord. There is an LED indicator light on the charger which is red when charging and green when fully charged. There's also a battery gauge on the small display on the handlebars. It took approx. 5 hours to fully charge the battery. While charging I read the included user's manual and got comfortable with the controls. There's a thumb paddle on the right bar for throttle and one on the left bar for the electro-magnetic brake. To power the scooter on, press the power button for 1 second and to turn it off, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. The LED headlight is turned on by pressing the power button for 1 second when the scooter is powered on.
Let's ride this thing! I took the XR Lite with me to one of my mountain bike rides knowing there are smooth neighborhood streets by the parking lot we use. In order to get the power to kick on, the scooter needs to be pushed to get it going a few miles per hour and then the throttle will engage. The XR Lite is smaller scooter and the riding deck is only a couple of feet long and about 6" wide. With that said, there's plenty of room to adjust your stance and get comfortable when riding. With a couple of pushes and applying the throttle it was off and running. On flatter surfaces it gets right up to the 12 mph max speed and is fun to zip around. On uphills the scooter does bog down and I found it to run around 7 mph and on downhills the 12 mph governor kicks in and keeps the speed at 12 mph. If the throtttle is pressed and held for 10 seconds, cruise control will engage and you can take your thumb off the paddle. The electo-magnetic brake works well to quickly slow the scooter, but be aware that it brakes the front wheel. The rear wheel brake is a fender brake style that engages when stepped on. I found this a little challenging to get used to, so used the front brake most of the time.
For reference I'm 160 lbs. and my first impression you feel every small crack or bump on the road when riding. There is no suspension and the 6" wheels/tires are tubeless sold plastic and they transmit everything to the scooter. I guess I was hoping for something a bit smoother when riding, but it isn't a deal breaker. The battery life seemed solid and the scooter can easily be ridden in the 5 mile range for someone commuting to school or the office, but would recommend charging it every night.
Pros:
- Dash Pod with battery gauge and speedometer
- Build quality is top-notch
- Small, light and foldable for easy carrying or storage when not being ridden
- Easy to build and ride
- LED headlight works well
- Kickstand
- GoTrax tech support
Cons:
- Solid 6" wheels/tires are really firm and makes for a rough ride if not on ideal surface
- On my first ride, the rear tire separated from the rim and couldn't be fixed, so I had to contact GoTrax tech support and they are sending out a new rear wheel. My experience with support was decent, they were quick to respond, but it's been over a week and the replacement wheel hasn't shipped as of yet.
Overall, this is a well-built scooter that for the right person will work for riding around the neighborhhod or commuting to school or work. It's too "lite" for what I'd like in a scooter as it lacks power for heavier riders. The smaller size is also a plus in many categories, and will be perfect for many riders, but personally it felt a bit too small for an adult rider and should be left to kids or young adults.

SPECS on Box vs BB Site
Charge time 5 hours…6.5 hours= Winner 5 Hours
Range 5 Miles…7 Miles = Loser 2-3 miles max
Tires 6.5in Air-Filled…8.5in Pneumatic, pre-slimmed = Loser 6.5in rubber tire
2 Stars feels like a cheap shot, but 3 Stars feels like to middle of the road for misleading info. So 2.5 is more realistic but I rounded down. Rebrand/remarket as a child's scooter/toy and it would definitely be 4-5 stars.
Weight/Speed/Range/Battery
Definitely want to consider the use case. I am just under the 220lb limit at 210lb and it struggled to climb any hill under my weight. Reaching max 12mph speed is possible, but takes long straight road. Even smallish dips will decrease the ability of the scooter.
Contrast with two of my daughters at 150lb and 110lb was a totally different experience. Easily and quickly reached max 12mph speed and was able to climb small hill for both. The 150lb rider did so at 5mph but the lightest 110lb rider did so at 10mph.
Range is going to be 2-3 miles max with rider assist, even with lighter riders. Now super flat areas with a 100lb rider, might eek out to 5 miles range as a theoretical max, but real world use just prepare for 2-3 miles.
Battery Life
Under my weight when the battery indicator hit 1 bar (like immediately) the scooter could not power me. Did not have this problem with the lighter riders.
There is no electric key for a lock, etc so it needs to go everywhere the rider goes to detract from theft.
I was looking at this for personal use in certain situations where I am needing to walk a lot. I am battling a pinched nerve in the leg and while standing isn’t an issue walking certain distances currently irritates and inflames the nerve, so I thought this could be a fun solution for that. And rightfully it is!
However the biggest drawback is it states there are air filled or even pneumatic(air) tires. I’m guessing by Pneumatic is that there is supposed an “air gap” inside the tire to soften the ride, but it is anything but a soft ride. Just like a skateboard or folding scooter with ABEC wheels, you will feel each bump.
Incorrect info a side, if you are buying as a toy for a kid, its a fine electric scooter. But a “Commuting” Scooter which brings to mind an intended city or campus use by a teenager/adult, I would look for a better spec’ed scooter albeit more expensive.

The XR Lite comes with a single drive unit and batteries all in the down tube. That makes the floorboard exceptionally light. Two thumb triggers that are either the accelerator or the magnetic brakes. The display comes to life with the power button that shows your speed and the battery levels. A short press of the power button also triggers the pedestrian headlight. No tailights or brake lights on this particular model. You also get a rear fender friction brake in addition to the thumb driven magnetic brake. The entire package folds down for compact storage.
Now down to the nitty gritty:
While 200w may sound impressive, it’s seriously underpowered for anyone over 120lbs. The box claims 220lbs max weight, 5 mile range per charge and 12mph. As an adult, I weigh around 160lbs and I’m lucky to even get half that range per charge. 12mph is governed and even with a steep downhill, you will still be going 12mph max. Any kind of uphill and you will be lucky to see 7mph as an adult. For context, my 6 year old can manually kick her scooter faster than 12mph.
In summary, I can only recommend this XR Lite scooter for kids/teens. The power and range is severely lacking for any grown adults.

The GoTrax XR Lite is GoTrax's new entry level E-Scooter. In short, this scooter is nothing but disappointing. From the incorrectly listed specifications, defective wheels, harsh ride, and poor range, it's not a scooter I would recommend to anyone.
Setup:
Setup is the best part about this scooter. Simply attach handle bar via two allen screws (tool included) and plug it in to charge and you're good to go. Charging does take a couple hours to reach full charge.
Usage:
After reaching a full charge and taking it for a ride, it became immediately apparent what this scooter had to offer. The listing states "8.5" tires, pneumatic tires" this is false. The tires on this scooter are 6.5" SOLID rubber tires. This leads to a VERY harsh ride and which is unusable over broken pavement.
The top speed is 12 mph, max. This doesn't matter if you're on flat ground or going downhill. If you're going up hill then don't expect to exceed more than 10 mph or so. It will not climb more than gentle hills given the 200w motor. The braking performance via motor regen actually works quite well.
Lastly, range is listed at 5 miles on the box (7 miles on the listing) and I would guess 5 miles is more accurate. After just 1 mile or so the battery indicator quickly start falling. I would not trust this scooter to travel more than 3-4 miles reliably on flat ground at top speed.
The scooter does fold very easily and only weighs about 20 lbs which makes transportation easy. This is one of the best aspects of the scooter.
Defective Wheels:
My first scooter's rear wheel started coming off the rim after just 2 miles of total riding. I contacted GoTrax and then sent a replacement scooter to exchange with the first one. The second scooter's rear tire had the exact same failure after 5 minutes of riding on the smoothest concrete possible. According to other reviews this is an issue on others as well.
Overall:
I would not recommend this scooter to anyone. If you're looking for a commuter scooter, look at a higher priced alternative with true pneumatic tires, longer range, and higher top speed for just a little more money. The XR Lite may be ok for children who only travel in a well paved neighborhood but if this isn't your use case, I would recommend looking at other models.

Good in between scotter for speed, height, and weight. We've had it a couple of weeks and it's worked well so far. We did buy a warranty as many scooters, regardless of brand, seem to have issues, over time.
