Customers are satisfied with the high-quality graphics and the realistic driving simulation offered in Gran Turismo Sport. The variety of cars available is also a plus for many users. The VR experience is unique and immersive, however, some users would like to see improvements to the career mode.

One of the best racing sims out there, but...

I played a lot of racing sims over the last 20+ years. Started with Sega Rally, went through multiple F1's, Forza's, etc. But somehow, the Gran Turismo series always felt special. Maybe it was the superior physics which made driving cars in GT games more realistic than others, maybe it was the sheer number of available options, from racing small, lightweight K-cars, to LeMans super-vehicles, maybe it was something else... I'm not sure.
Approaching GT Sport I knew it was focused on multiplayer - online racing. I knew there were less cars than in competitive games. I knew that online reviewers claimed other games had superior realism. Nevertheless - I chose a PS4 over XBox in large part due to Gran Turismo.
The game never disappointed me. It does have a nice selection of cars spread across multiple classes/groups and brands. It does have great-looking tracks. It has nice realism of driving (especially on a Logitech G29 racing wheel, which I bought specifically for this game). It does give you a great feeling of accomplishment when you finish that "perfect race", or even a "perfect lap".
The only problem with it is, from my perspective, that it does not excel above all others in any one significant category. Among racing sims there are better-looking games, there are more realistic games, there are more fun multiplayer games, etc. - you get where I'm going. While overall this is a great game and it'll give you hours of fun, regardless of whether you play online or offline (the latter after a few updates), it left me with the slight feeling of wanting something more.
Plus, my 13yo daughter seems to have really liked playing it. :)

Got this game because I love racing simulators. Paired it up with the G29, and the experience is great. Graphics are great, and the game has an elegant sense to it. Makes you want to just sit at the home screen or visually inspect the cars. You also have to an active internet connection to play, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. The VR portion is amazing as well.

A lot of people don’t like that the focus of this game is online racing as opposed to some sort of career mode. No matter how you look at it, it’s still a fun game to play and daily things to do to keep you busy. And there are plenty of cars to choose from. Maybe others are being extra picky with the cars they want as others have said there aren’t many cars but it’s good enough for me. As for customization, this isn’t Need For Speed, but there are some slight modifications you can make like colors, decals, and adjusting the car’s settings to your liking.
Also if you enjoy just racing for the fun of it, how can you not like this game. If what this game is, is not what you’re looking, then I guess go and try out project cars or any other game to find what you’re looking for. But if you like the Gran Turismo series of games, you should like this game too.
The only thing I would recommend with this game and what I’m considering doing is buying a steering wheel to play this game as I imagine it’s easier to drive your car especially with tight turns. I imagine it would also be easier with using gas and brake pedals instead of just pressing buttons.

o enjoy this game, one has to first manage his expectation. First of all, this is not Gran Turismo 7. Many of the negative reviews wrongly assume that this is the successor of GT 5/6, which is not the case. This is the on-line, competitive, multi-player version of Gran Turismo. Secondly, while the off-line single player elements is being significantly reduced, you can still enjoy the game off-line in Arcade and Training mode. Right now, there is a limited selection of tracks and cars but more will be added via free updates. The game has recently received an update with more off-line content. The game now includes GT League, which is a much requested feature.
Personally, i would take most of the negative comments with a grain of salt. These so call 'Long Time Gran Turismo Fan' did not even realized that this game is marketed as an on-line racer right from the beginning? There is no reason condemning a game for what it is not. Would anyone give World of Warcraft, one star all because it is not a real time strategy game? They do share a part of the same title, don't they?
While the release may felt rushed and the lack of off-line content may be disappointing, the developer has been quick to address some of the issues and has even gone so far as to promise all free DLC. The game has already received its major update and there will be more to come in the following year. Believe me, there are still a lot of things to do off-line. Perfecting your time trial on each and every one of the tracks will take up a huge chunk of your life. Before you even realize it, the next update will be just round the corner.
That said, the game is polished and enjoyable. Controls on the DualShock controller is top-notched. Graphics are phenomenal and more importantly the races, both online and offline, are fun and challenging. If you love racing game this holiday season is a great time to grab your copy at a discounted price.

I hesitate to even call GT4 a game. I'm new to a game system. Haven't had one for probably 20 years. Picked up a new PS4 and bought GT4 with it. I knew everything has gotten much more advanced but playing it on my 65" Samsung SUHD TV is amazing! Now all I have to do is hone my driving skills.
I've never raced cars in real life but I have raced motorcycles for years. I'm familiar with how a car reacts to inputs and the basics of high speed driving tactics. To make the game realistic, the controls are touchy but they have to be. The game has a driving school that teaches you how to control the car from a very basic starting point. The school has you using different cars (from a Mazda Miata to a Bugatti Veyron) so you can become familiar with the different abilities of the different cars. This is where you realize how realistic the game is. If you push a car too hard going into a corner too fast, under braking the front end starts losing traction and starts drifting to the outside line. You can feel how some cars have better driving characteristics (better brakes, better acceleration, worse understeer, etc, etc) You earn points/rewards as you accumulate miles and tasks as well as earning new race cars that you keep in your garage. You can alter the driving characteristics of the cars if you want to. The game is definitely one that lets you learn and grow as your skills increase along with your equipment. You can even customize the paint scheme as well as your driving suit and helmet.
If you get bored with this game, its because you haven't used all its resources available to you. You can race with other drivers online. I'm extremely impressed how realistic they've been able to make the cars work! I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

The variety of cars is great. The multiplayer is good. The online races are awesome. The VR courses are fun too, however these are limited. For a VR game, there is very little VR!

I think once all the bugs are out of it it will be a great game. If you are just a car collector this is not the game for you. This game is about driving and precision. Great graphics, great racing, it is what I wanted. Once they work out some of the bugs for online play it will be a time killer. Right now the server has constantly gone down for maintenance and because it is all online it makes it hard to play.

Good if you want to race cleanly online

First off - if you do not want to race online against other people you likely should skip this title. That is 80% of what it is. Or wait until you can get it for very cheap. This is not the GT games of the past with 1k cars and turbo mods. There are only 150 cars and it is about racing online with real people and racing clean... for me this is actually a positive.
Now if you like to race online this game has a great system to match you with racers who race at the same level as you (if there are enough people to race with) and it has a sportsmanship rating so you get ranked higher for racing clean. Promoting clean racing is nice.
The graphics are very good. Best in class for consoles or tied equally with others.
The FFB for wheels is pretty good - but the latest patch today reduced it a little but it is still pretty good. Better than project cars, but not as good as Assetto Corsa.
The could improve the options for camera views, but they have the exact same views they have always had but with new fancy cockpits. Really wish they had a proper dash cam added or FOV adjustment but hey.. this is Gran Turismo and PD have always been off in their own world doing things their way.
Overall I am really enjoying it and play each day if I can.

If you're looking for a good old classic Gran Turismo game on PS4, then this might not be it for you. While this game is good for what it is, an online sports racing game, this is not the Gran Turismo we all know and love. I understand they are trying something new, and that this is called Gran Turismo Sport, and not 7, but I miss the old campaign mode. Now the campaign mode is just basically practice and missions. The real game is all online, which is cool and all, but it's just not as fun as the old Gran Turismo games. I will say that the online mode is addicting, because the racer in me just wants to keep getting better, but there are a lot of drivers that don't take the game serious and will basically mario kart your way out of the track. With that said there is still really good competition online though, and that's basically what keeps me going back. I want to win races, and prove to myself that I am worthy. So, this is a game that I will keep playing, I mean it is still Gran Turismo at heart, but it's far from perfect.

I love playing this game in VR. I almost forget I am at home. I only wish I had purchased the newer version of the PSVR and owned a PS4 Pro. So far this game is fun and challenging for a driving game but definitely on par with all the previous GT games I have played before.

Yes, everything looks amazing. Better sound. Improved navigation, (mostly). If you are a serious racer seeking online opponents, this should be a very satisfying game.
However.... A game that gets an extra year to 'polish' and it still requires a multi-gigabyte update right away! Not a good first impression. Where are the cars, the tracks, the offline races, and the fun? Mostly all gone. At this point I regret speeding over $700 to buy a PS4, steering wheel, stand, and game just to play Gran Turismo. Loved the prior version. Really hope future updates/addons bring back the components I really enjoyed.

I bought the game to use with my PSVR and that party of the game is cool, although I was disappointed that you can only use the VR in one on one races. Otherwise the game is beautiful and the kids and I have been trying to it do each other on the challenges.

This game has become way more than a racing simulation, which ruined the game for me. This game brought it back to basics and with that it becomes the game everyone loved. From the attention to the brake calipers to dirt being kicked up , it’s all there.

Been playing Gran Turismo since the first one and I'm still impressed with the series. Great cars, great graphics, great tracks, great physics, great music! This title focuses more on professional racing than previous ones, but it is refreshing.

I so far am loving the competitive racing found in this game. I would give it a 5 if it were not for the strict online restrictions put on the game. Also I love the sportsman rating which cuts down on the people being purposefully being rude trolls ruining the online experience. Though there is a flaw in the system where no matter who causes the collision both drivers are penalized. But I will still take this flaw since I generally don't like online multiplayer since it is ruined by cheaters and people trying to ruin others games on purpose. The game is gorgeous and can't wait to experience it in 4k when I finally upgrade my TV.

Just trying to get into this game. Miss the whole career mode where you buy a cheap car, tune it and race until your garage is filled. Graphics and sound are awesome.
