It heard and recorded sounds through walls clearly! The only thing I didn't like was when listening back to the recording, headphones needed to be used to hear the playback clearly.

I purchased this recorded to do interviews on the fly when I don't have my big equipment ready. We recently used this to record the audio for an on-camera interview of an artist for a documentary film. The setup took some learning as the menu is a bit confusing, but once we were set up, it was a cinch. The mics are positionable and the resulting quality is quite good.

it may feel cheap in your hands, but once you record and listen it delivers high quality recording. i have not found any for this price range that does as good a job as this.

This is my second one. My first one is still going (in use for phone reviews after X-Y mics finally became loose 6 years after purchase, surviving droppings and much traveling). Single AA battery, one-hand operation is great, and I have recorded interviews in loud restaurants that come through clearly. I drop the audio file right into the computer for transcription with ExpressScribe. I've told so many people about these, I'm sure I've.sold a couple of dozen for the company.

It’s name says it all handy zoom recorder, truly is. Only complaint, my reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because you cannot control/adjust sound intake, for the most part sound is great!

I just took my H1 to Nepal to shoot some video footage with testimonies for our TV station and got some great audio even with some audio challenges on the trip. The size of the unit is great and very portable and the mic ports in AND out are great to make sure you get good audio. I also picked up the starter kit for it that comes with a wind screen and a sweet carry case to protect it. Well worth the $100 I spent and worked great with shooting the footage with my DSLR.

This little recorder is amazing - the sound is super clear and it's easy to use. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because I have yet to figure out how to slow down recordings during playback. On my Olympus recorder you can do that without having to load it on computer. I am a paranormal investigator and enjoy the slow down feature while reviewing for EVPs. But other than that, this recorder is cherry.

I love this little 'take-anywhere' recorder. It is extremely easy to use and very light-weight, It cannot get any easier than this when it comes to using it. I don't like the build quality as it is too plastically; I feel if I drop it it is going to break or chip. That said I would certainly buy another for crash and burn shoots.

The sound quality and recording time are great. I can record an entire session and have plenty of room left

Have the zoom h2n model for first choice recording. For the h1's price is an opportunity to have a reasonable quality backup in a pinch.

I've had the Zoom H1 for a few weeks and it's still working fine. Like anything else, you need to take care of it. Otherwise, its built sturdy and records great sound. I use it for video interviews mainly, and it cuts out a lot of background noise as long as it's pointing at the speaker. Very clear and easy to use. I love that is can mount on a mini tripod.

Bought originally for jam sessions with the band. I record sessions and send them through my looper station and practice my licks!

I use this to record sermons to put on our church website. It picks up the sermon perfectly being set on the pulpit a couple feet from me. I would have given it 5 stars but I've has problems with rechargeable batteries not working in it, however I'm not quite certain if it's the brand of batteries or the Zoom.

This is a great little recorder that gives you good quality sound.

I am not very technically oriented, but I found this digital recorder to be very user friendly, easy to operate. Good quality sound on the playback. I'm very happy with it. I did get the bigger card put in for additional space, and I am very glad I did. A very useful purchase!

This recorder is a good budget choice for a portable recorder. It's not as sturdy or feature rich as the H4 series, but if you don't need those features, and don't mind the cheaper, plastic construction, this model provides good value for your money.
