Only great things it had when it first came out were: 1.) Fresh graphics, and 2.) Immersive, fun campaign. Now it has updated Multiplayer(as many including myself did not like it when it first came out)with FREE DLC. The REQ system is alright as daily REQ packs have as good a chance as any to get you the good stuff as would buying several packs yourself via microtransaction(which should not have been added to the game). Only get this if you have friends that will play with you.

I have not played any game in this series with regularity since the second one, back when they were a Bungie game. I'll say that if you expect that level of high quality single-player experience, you'll be incredibly disappointed in this game. The plot is, at best, inconsistent with that of previous games, and seems to have very little to do with the marketing campaign drum-up to the release. THAT game looked to be compelling, with two sides to a story, but in the end, it seems as if they released a slightly different game. The environments, however, are incredibly detailed and good looking, and most of the graphics are top notch (though there are a few instances, even in cinematics, that the game looks "lazy"). The single player DOES force you outside your comfort zone, and to use weapons you normally would leave behind. This is a bit bizarre, however, as it does not translate into the multiplayer; human weapons, Covenant weapons, and Promethean weapons in the single player are often similar analogues of one another in damage dealing, however, in the multiplayer, particularly the Warzone game modes, the starting human weapons are much weaker than their counterparts. Warzone, and other game modes like Big Team Battle, are the saving grace of this game. They are fast, interesting, and allow for different play styles. I don't think the level design is quite up to par with previous titles, favoring fast-paced action over methodical thinking, but they are, nonetheless, quite fun. They are, I might caution you, quite unforgiving to new players. It takes some time to get up to speed with your peers and opponents on some of the bigger maps, where the nuances make the difference. All in all, it's a great multiplayer game. I wouldn't recommend skipping the single player, as you are paying for BOTH parts of the game, just prepare to be underwhelmed.

    Best Gunplay of the Series

In my opinion, Halo 5 has the best gunplay in the series. Firefights have never been so fun. The game looks great at a smooth 60 fps, and the graphics are ok too but there are some jagged edges and rough textures. The story can't really stand on it's own though. I'm only a few missions in but am a little confused, and don't care much for Locke as I did Chief. In terms of difficulty, I'm playing on Heroic solo and haven't had any issues. The multiplayer is excellent. Your standard 4v4 arena modes are back, and they've added a new Warzone mode. 12v12 battles over strategic points on the map with AI opponents. Forge will be added later on this year I believe. Another new addition to the game are Requisition, or REQ, packs. These contain items, weapons, and burn cards similar to Titanfall. You can spend real money on them, or points which you can earn by just playing matches. However, I am not a fan of microtransactions at all though. I also think that the way the REQ packs are set up unbalance the game. Server stability is not an issue, at least for me. I got burned with Halo MCC, that game did not work properly at all. I have not seen any issues with 5 so far, and it only took me 10 seconds to get into my first match. I'd like to end this review by saying that a lot of people are giving this game poor reviews due to lack of splitscreen. While I understand their frustration, 343i stated before the game launched that splitscreen would not be included. The game would not be able to run at 60 fps with splitscreen, so they went with that instead. Although not an issue for me, it really annoyed some. Just be an informed consumer and do some research beforehand. Overall, if you like Halo, you will like this game. The campaign leaves some questions unanswered and can be difficult to follow(at least for me), but the gunplay and multiplayer are great.

Halo Master Chief Collection was such a catastrophe that I was genuinely worried about the future of the Halo franchise. Halo 5 put those rests to fear. This is the best Halo since 3, and has provided me with days of play time. I've logged over 1000 games already, and free monthly DLC keeps the game interesting! Warzone is an incredible addition that took some time to grow on me, but now dominates my rotation. If you are/were a Halo fan and don't yet have Halo 5, do yourself a favor and buy it now.

Being a fan of the Halo series, I was very open minded with news of Halo 5. I have played all the Halo games and would say this is the best Halo game since 2. The game play is quick but easy to pick up on. Online matches are pretty much balanced as long as a teammate does not drop out. The best mode to me is the Warzone multiplayer matches. This has 12 vs. 12 matches that bring in all kinds of upgradable weapons and vehicles as the game progresses. This has been so good I am NOT preordering COD this year.

Halo 5: Guardians has a great story that continues the journey of the Master Chief. This time, he is accompanied by his remaining fellow Spartan IIs and together they go on a new adventure. This adventure doesn't seem to be approved by the UNSC and Fireteam Osiris is following close behind to bring them in. Players will embark on a journey playing as both the Master Chief of Blue Team, and Spartan Locke of Fireteam Osiris. This brings back that Halo 2 feel of playing two opposing points of view and the players will eagerly await the outcome of this intense and heated story. There are a lot of new mechanics that are not very "Halo" in my opinion, but it didn't take away from my experience. Instead they gave me a new way to play and I definitely felt more like a Spartan as I used all the new abilities. The story is great and kept me in constant suspense the whole time. I cannot wait to continue this new story when the next Halo comes out. The multiplayer has regular small team slayer and objective game types, as well as a new take on big team battles. It's called war zone, and players will fight each other to take control of several bases to strategically hold down the battlefield. Players will earn points based on winning the game and how well they do, and can use these points to buy requisition packs. The contents in these packs are completely random. I found this to be a fun new take on player versus player action and I have a lot of fun with it. Although the game doesn't feel as "Halo" as the original trilogy, Halo 5: Guardians is a great game. I believe many fans will enjoy the story and playing against each other online.

    Mediocre addition to series

Besides the lack of the split screen, which is a whole other issue, the game is very lackluster at best. The control is very loose and unresponsive (even with me having the sensitivity on 10/max). I've only played part of the story mode, which has been ok especially the graphics. Being able to direct squad mates is a plus, but the AI's ability (especially when it comes to them reviving you ) is laughable. They tend to come to your aid like blind lemmings and have total disregard for utilizing common sense in coming to your rescue (i.e.: 2 characters doing covering fire while another takes a reasonable route to assist; instead of 1 AI player after another walks directly in the line of fire and die while you watch helplessly). I've only played a couple of games on Warzone, however I did like battling the other team in the midst of taking on different enemies to score extra points. I'm undecided when it comes to the req pack stuff (purchasing weapons/vehicles while you level up during the match). I need to play some more to have a better understanding of how it works. I would ONLY recommend this to a diehard Halo fan that prefers the multiplayer modes AND preferred to play previous Halo's on a sensitivity level much lower than the max (10)

The best Halo game since Halo 2

I am a longtime fan of the halo series. I have played halo 1-4, Reach, and ODST. Having stated that, I think this is the most enjoyable halo game(as a whole package) since halo 2. Both the campaign and multiplayer modes are very fun to play. The campaign is a bit short around 6-8 hrs long, which is pretty much on par with previous halo offerings. The story on halo is interesting, but can be difficult to follow for those unfamiliar with the books, or don't take during the game to find out more about the story through NPCs and intel that can be found throughout the game. Gameplay is where halo 5 shines. The gunplay is top knotch and really enjoyable whether you are playing campaign or mp modes. The new booster based movements are a nice addition as well as improving upon the forerunner weapons that were introduced in halo 4. The graphics in halo 5 are a very noticeable upgrade from halo 4 and dont disappoint. If you are on the fence about getting this game, because of the negative things stated about the campaign don't let that hold you back. Storytelling has never been the halo series strong suite, despite what others may try to claim. The universe and all the factions and characters involved in the halo universe has made it difficult for developers to tell perfectly coherent stories within the game's cutscenes, which is why there are so many other avenues to obtain more information regarding any given halo story. The strengths of the campaign have been the diversity in combat (shooting flying, driving etc) and an Epic soundtrack playing in the background while fighting large battles filled with various types of enemies in immersive environments. Halo 5 campaign delivers in all of those previously mentioned ways, and the mp is a lot more enjoyable than the past two halo entries due to its meticulous balancing and new game modes.

Great multiplayer makes up for mediocre campaign

When I first popped Halo 5 in and started the first campaign, I was immediately struck by how beautiful it was. That first level was captivating, and I ended up dying quite a few times simply because I was checking out the visuals and not shooting at baddies. That quickly wore off as the levels became more and more tedious. Sure, the gunplay was better than most games I'd played recently, but it got stale quickly. I'm not one of those who solely despise this game based on the almost total lack of Master Chief, but Locke was a boring character that I couldn't get into. The story was very confusing at times and somewhat hard to follow. There was one point where I fell off a bridge and instead of dying I cued a cinematic that felt very abrupt and out of place. The multiplayer, on the other hand, is fantastic. I don't play a ton of online shooters, so I realize my opinion is somewhat slated on that fact, but to me Halo 5's multiplayer shines. It's enough for me to keep the game. The new REQ system is an odd but welcome addition, and the Warzone mode is a blast. For me it seems to have lost its competitive edge (from the likes of Halo 3), and that might be why I like it more. It's easy to pick up when I have a free 20 minutes. I'm not an amazing player by any means, so it's nice to not get lambasted by a horde of foul-mouthed juveniles when I perform poorly. Anywho, if you're big on fun multiplayer, it's definitely worth a look. If you're looking for a deep dive into the awesome mythos that's Master Chief, stick with the original trilogy.

Halo 5 is a great value for the price I picked it up for, especially the multiplayer. Just got done wrapping up the campaign on legendary with a buddy of mone and I'm a huge halo fan, but good lord the AI is horrendous when playing co-op campaign, be wary is all I'll say if you decide to take that route. not sure how they act solo but if they have to be just as bad, maybe I'm missing something if so I'd love to know :). Key things to know for Multiplayer and Singleplayer before buying: - You can't split screen on one console. - The maps available at release are more limited than you would expect, however free DLC is coming and a lot of it - Forge is not yet active but will be active in December Single player: The single player campaign is superb, I give it an 9/10. It was all very believable and nothing seemed outrageous or outlandish. The levels were interesting and left many options for travel through them; not to mention the hidden content on each level that add's replay value for completionists. The story is up there with the first two halo's, minus their repetitive level design. Multiplayer: The movement/combat mechanics are excellent and feel like a perfect mix between Destiny and more traditional Halo games. Essentially the "feel" of everything has been modernized and brought into line with what you would expect from games like Destiny. I give the MP overall a 9/10. It loses 1 point because of the poor map selection, it makes up for that in well crafted game types, ranking systems and Req. Packs. The Req. Packs can be bought with real money but it won't give any player an undue advantage for spending real money vs. spending none at all. Getting Req. Packs is easy and doesn't make the player feel undue pressure to spend real money to get ahead. Final Thoughts: This is a great installment to the Halo franchise and a definite must have for any fans of the previous games or FPS's in general.

Halo 5 is the next installment in the series started by 343 Industries, this time around it has been brought to Xbox One. The gameplay is very familiar and similar to that of Halo 4 on the 360, with a couple new additions such as the Phaton Ship and Plasma Caster gun. The storyline, in my opinion, was not very intriguing. The fact that you only get to play as the iconic Master Chief for a couple missions out of the 15 mission campaign is sort of disheartening. It is apparent that Spartan Locke is the main character of this game. It is a battle between Team Blue and Team Osiris fighting against Promethean and Covenant forces, all while trying to stop Chief from going rogue. It is a fun campaign, but to dedicated Halo fans it may not be too appealing as it was to me. Multiplayer is fun and brings back classics such as CTF, Strongholds, and SWAT. In addition new modes Warzone and Breakout have been added to provide big battlefield wars and close quarters combat. It feels a lot like Halo 4 but is all in all worth it if you want to add this to your Halo collection or if you are looking for a new shooter to play.

The last time I played Halo I got halfway through Halo 3, so watching the opening cinemas was a little confusing, but was able to piece together what was happening. The gameplay was smooth and effective (got to love a game having SouthPaw control options), and the graphics are astounding. I like the feature of your teammates being able to revive you; it gives you incentive to help keep them alive.

This is a great change of pace for halo. Being a die hard fan since day one with Halo CE, and Fading away once Reach came out. Halo 5 really caught my eye after playing the beta. I knew they were getting back to their roots with this one while still incorporating some new physics. I was definitely not left empty handed. With Classic Halo in Arena Multiplayer, an engaging campaign, and the all new Warzone, I haven't been able to put it down.

The game maintained the general feel of Halo while also including an assortment of features new to the franchise. The campaign was excellent despite Master Chief's lesser role. Multiplayer leaves a fair amount to be desired, as there are very few maps and no vehicles in slayer, only in Warzone, which, even then, is limited. Despite that, the game is gorgeous and the gameplay remains excellent.

With great graphics & solid gameplay, Halo is back and better than ever. New features (4 player campaign & larger multiplayer maps) make for the same game you have come to expect, but with new twists. The only drawback is that you can no longer play a split screen campaign on the same television. You can however play it with 3 of your friends, online. Worth the wait, and a game you can play for a very long time without becoming bored.

Fun, fun, fun. I haven't had this much fun playing a Halo game since Halo 3. It looks beautiful, and runs at a smooth 60 fps. The lack of splitscreen, and annoyingly dumb AI teammates make Campaign a bit frustrating at times, but don't detract too much from the fun. New multiplayer modes are the real game changer and will probably kill your social life. A must have for any Halo fan.

343 really nailed the MP experience for Halo 5. Arena is a competent, fun, competitive new take on the classic Halo experience. Everyone starts with the same weapons and abilities, no loadouts, no nonsense, a huge improvement over Halo 4. Maps are well designed and fine tuned to competitive play and the new climbing ability. There's also a new mode called Warzone for those who like the large scale battles. The campaign however is a disappointment. The conflict between the Chief and Locke hyped up in the marketing is almost non existent. They have a 20 second fist fight and then kiss and make up later. You play as the Chief in 3 of the 12 missions, that's it. The rest of it is Locke, with Buck and two no-name spartans you won't care about. The far more interesting Blue team is barely there! You also fight mostly prometheans, which also have a new enemy class, the soldier. He usually carries a light rifle and likes to teleport around. Very annoying. Knights are now essentially the promethean versions of hunters. The best part of the campaign is the Sanhelios arc (Elite homeworld). Lots of good battles with covenant here. If you're big on the MP, get this. It's the best Halo MP since 3, way better than Reach and 4 which IMO nearly ruined the series for good. If you're just a campaign player, wait for a sale down the line and keep your expectations low.
