I had heard the rave reviews from Broadway, but the style of music left me somewhat skeptical. I also am a lover of American history and feared how a musical would handle such important but complex historical currents. I was very pleasantly surprised. The music is accessible and understandable and carries the story. And while Hamilton certainly is not a documentary and puts words into people's mouths, it strives to respect history. I've listened to it three times already and will want to see it when the play comes back to town.

In preparation for seeing Hamilton this summer, I wanted to listen to the music before actually attending the performance. I was afraid that my hearing loss, not to mention that some of the music is rap, might impair my understanding of the music on stage. The voices on the CD are very clear, and I was able to understand everything. It is also very helpful that the transcript of all recordings is included with the CDs. The only negative thing to report is that I had to order the CD as it was not available at my Best Buy.

Awesome performance and incredible soundtrack!!!!!

I am one of those people who think that someone left the first letter off of "rap" when they named it and that it barely qualifies as music. A play that's all rap with no dialogue sounded dreadful. However, one of my all-time favorites was the off-Broadway hip-hop "Bomb-itty of Errors", so I'd gone in hopeful. You can imagine my pleasant surprise when I enjoyed the cd and the play. While the buzz has gotten ridiculous, both get lots of points for originality and execution. The included lyrics are a great help when you can't keep up and it's not quite all rap. I'd recommend buying the cd now and by the time you are able to get a ticket to see the play next year, you'll have the rap down cold!

Certainly a different take on delivering history. Although not a fan of rap, the song compositions were entertaining and listening to the historical story was intriguing.

The latest studio album straight from the Broadway musical by Lin Manuel-Miranda "Hamilton," is an instant showstopper to any fan of storytelling through song. This soundtrack includes full lyrics (mixed by The Roots band) to all the songs on this fantastic 2-disc set. My family purchased a few copies to give as gifts for the holidays. Highly recommend for anyone who is interested in the history of our nation's founding and enjoys Broadway-style show tunes - this is the soundtrack for you. Next stop, The Richard Rogers Theater!

I had been hearing about Hamilton for a long time, just like everyone else. I saw a documentary, but hadn't heard the music yet outside of the references to the musical. That's a lot of hype and buildup to contend with and this exceeded my expectations. This is a great piece of work and I love it. Very inventive and well put together. The acting is pretty stellar, too, and I love the nods to hip hop that Lin-Manuel Miranda brought to the work. Top notch!

After seeing Hamilton I wanted the soundtrack--it didn't disappoint me. A must for Hamilton fans.

I first stumbled upon this album during the 2015 holiday season. It caught my attention and soon filled my every waking thought. Morning, noon, and night; Hamilton, Hamilton, Hamilton. So I scratched my itch with constant listening. The CD is a worth while buy. Support the cast, educate yourself, feel the movement of "The Movement." Do not throw away yourself shot.I have made everyone in my inner circle listening to this album.

Hamilton wasn't a love at first listen experience. It's very long, and if you don't know what you are getting to can be difficult to follow the stories/arc's that are being presented. Now having had the album for a few months I can confidently say I love it. The hip-hop aspect might not be for everyone, but there is enough musical range to satisfy most who listen. Highly recommended.

After hearing half of the 1st song, I knew I wanted to see the play. And I will, eventually. But dang the music is incredible! It's like my daughter says, Lin-Manuel cracked the code, I can't imagine anyone not loving it. It's unlike anything I've heard before and it makes me seek out & read more about Alexander Hamilton. We listen to this over and over. It's brilliant!

I first heard this musical on Pandora and I immediately set about finding it to purchase. This is a phenomenal album. I have been listening to it nonstop for the last month and have no plans to cease any time soon. It is truly entertaining from start to finish. Hamilton is a purchase you will not regret and will have you salivating to see the show live!

Love, love, love this CD. Lyrics are written out so it's easy to understand what they're actually saying when they sing. Since I can't get to Broadway to see the actual show (as if I could even get a ticket), this is the next best thing. Hopefully, they'll eventually make a movie of Hamilton but, until then, this is will do.

This is one of my favorites musical nows. I am not great at musicals but let me tell you, the songs are full of social poetic justice, the music is amazing and it speaks about our history with a twist of reality, I would so recommend this to all.

I am thoroughly enjoying "Hamilton". I have heard so much about it and watched the Tony Awards just to see their segment. This original Broadway Cast Recording is one of the best CDs I have ever purchased! I have heard that tickets are hard to come by, co this is a great way to hear this classic!

Hamilton may be the all time greatest piece of art... Ever. Whether you like musicals, are a history buff, or just want to listen to an amazing album. I wouldn't recommend anything more than experiencing Hamilton, and this 2-Disc original cast recording is a great way to do just that.

all the hype about the musical 'Hamilton' piqued my interest. I knew tickets to the play would be out of reach because it is so popular. I decided on the next best thing and purchased the CD. It did not disappoint. The songs are well performed, catchy and even educational

"Hamilton" is the most awarded musical in years and from my listening I can see why. Being "rap", it can be hard to follow. Therefore, I am glad they included all the lyrics with the CD. Now I will be ready for the show when it gets to L.A. in several months.

This album isn't just a show tune album, this show isn't just some play. If you really take the time to listen to the lyrics you'll understand why the show has such a huge following. Miranda really is a layered genius with his lyrics.
