As a fan of the original Thomas Harris books and (most) movies concerning Hannibal Lecter, I was originally skeptical of the idea of a television show built around the character. Hannibal has gleefully proven my worries unfounded as the series interprets the once familiar events and characters with a depth and resonance that respects the source material while expanding on it. Where season one was built around the meeting and early relationship between Lecter and FBI profiler Will Graham, they managed to introduce and maintain a level of tension built off of the audiences knowledge of Lecter's true nature, and Grahams evolving realization of it. Season two begins where season one left off- with Will behind bars after being artfully framed by the cannibal doctor. How will he get out? What is Hannibal up to while Graham is out of the picture? Where does the tense, symbiotic relationship between the two men go from here? Learning the answers is a suspenseful journey worth taking, presented with a visual panache that doesn't skimp on the gore, and set to a soundtrack of unique soundscapes and classical music selections. The outstanding cast make the previously inhabited roles their own, and are often matched by the performances of guest stars that include Eddie Izzard, Gillian Anderson, Amanda Plummer, and Michael Pitt. Highly recommended.

Slow burn that ends with a bang

Show creator Bryan Fuller and his crew have put together a dark, twisted and intense second season of Hannibal, and though they choose to burn the fuse slowly, the fireworks by the end of the season are well worth the long build-up. The plot tends to move at a glacial pace at first, but serves to set the stage for Hannibal, Will Graham and Jack Crawford to engage each other in a masterful game of chess, with gut-wrenching maneuvers in the final episode. Stand-out performances on the parts of Hugh Dancy as Will Graham and the always fantastic Laurence Fishburn as Jack Crawford and an excellent supporting cast help the viewer become fully engaged with the characters, and Mads Mikkelson brilliantly presents a stone-cold, calculating and often unnerving Hannibal Lecter who, though he can seem vulnerable in a given moment, becomes frighteningly imposing when his true nature comes to the forefront.
Hannibal is a rare show that excels in its moral ambiguity, keeping the viewer guessing what the end game is for each of the main characters, and the eerie visuals and ever-present motifs make for an unsettling experience not soon forgotten, especially after viewing the jaw-dropping final episode of the season. Far and away one of the best shows on television, pay or otherwise.

I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1 of Hannibal but season 2 is just on another level. All of the characters are intricately crafted and complex. The visuals are stunning; every frame is picture perfect especially the scenes in which Hannibal is making a meal. No characters are safe from having something terrible happen to them. The season finale is quite spectacular and even works as a solid ending if the show were to be cancelled. Luckily it was renewed and viewers can enjoy season 3 on June 4th 2015. Hannibal is one of the best shows on TV and I look forward to seeing how the story continues to develop and where it will all end in Season 6 (hopefully). :):):)

There are so many things to say about this god awe- ful series that is both ground breaking and popular int he way that car crashes and public executions grab the attention and hold it for a moment, then disperse off to the side. The series is a reflection of our times, serial killers and psychologists unleashed in an era of berserkers, of USA drones attacking ambulances and wedding parties. Indians on reservations never saw them coming. The good guys are on vacation and the rules are no longer in place. The world is teetering in a dance of pirouettes on the edge of a blade of hair.

Hannibal was not made for public TV, and NBC took a chance and they helped bring us a quality made show with great actors, very intriguing character relationships and ghastly dark. Unfortunately, they ended it at Season 3 before it got cancelled, but Season 2 here was very well done and ends with one of the biggest "OMG WTF!?" season finales in some time. Looks great on Blu-ray, some nice features and brings a Digital HD copy to enjoy off Smart TV or other device without switching discs. Definitely recommend this show!

This show deserves way more acclaim than it gets. Hannibal is one of those shows you never want to end. The characters are so compelling that you will sometimes root for a serial killer! Superbly acted and written, this show is probably my favorite one on television. I can't recommend it enough. One problem with it though. The wait for season three will be unbearable after you watch it! Go out and get this one right now!!!

Overall I was not expecting much when I had heard about rebooting Hannibal with a modern crime twist I was kind of doubting it was a good idea. However, Season 1 was fantastic and very entertaining, and Season 2 complemented it well, worth the watch if you enjoy murder mystery shows or the older Hannibal movies.

Who doesn't love a dangerous love affair accented with the colorful splatter of serial murder? Answer: Not you, if you're considering purchasing Season 2 of Hannibal. This season shows Will and Hannibal's relationship progressing further, as Will comes to terms what Hannibal did to him in the last season. This is where Bryan Fuller's Hannibal mythos really comes into its own.

This is one of the best tv shows on television yet no one appears to be watching (based off of the ratings). If you like the movies, you'll love the show (I think it is better than all of the movies). I'm surprised that NBC gets away with the subject matter, blood and violence shown. It seems better suited for cable, but NBC doesn't appear to be holding them back too much.

Bryan Fuller has taken the world of Hannibal Lector and transformed it into something truly remarkable. Whether or not you have seen or even like the movies that have already been produced by the same company that is producing this television series, you need to watch this show. It's an artistic and enthralling piece of work that you rarely see on cable TV anymore.

I went into the first season of "Hannibal" very biased because I am such a fan of Hannibal Lecter's on screen introduction in Michael Mann's classic "Manhunter." Knowing that this series was going to be using the primary characters from that film (and the book "Red Dragon," for which the film was based) I went into episode 1, season 1 kind of angry. It took about 3 episodes for me to let my guard down and accept the series for what it is: a new take on a great story with a fantastic cast, plain and simple. Recommended (even to die hard "Manhunter" fans like myself).

I really like this show, it's about a younger Hannibal and a young FBI specialist working together to try and solve a bunch or murders, well duh, we all know who did it. The actor who plays Hannibal is pretty good, not what I pictured a younger Hannibal too look like though. The creativity and detail that goes into each murder scene is mind boggling.

I thought the first season of Hannibal was excellent, but WOW...this season took the cake for plot twists and sheer horror! This series is gruesome, but also intelligent and creepy. Bryan Fuller's imagery is exquisite and dark. The pacing is nerve wracking. The season finale...ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. I cannot sing the praises enough for this show. Great show!

Hannibal is an extremely visceral performance set before its audience. The cast is perfect in each of their roles with Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen standing out. Bloody, simplistically terrifying and full of some of the best imagery, metaphors, and cinematography I've ever seen on a regualr TV network, Hannibal delivers one of the best courses out there.

A very dark drama that continues to hit every note with sharp delivery. Great pacing. Great acting. Definitely not for the kids.
You can purchase the first two seasons with confidence that you're in for a wonderfully bizarre treat.

Purists might take issue or two with the way the show has modified (lightly) the canon set up by Thomas Harris, but they'd have to be blind to not recognize the agonizing beauty in the show. It's extremely well-written and sumptuously photographed and the performances from all involved, from the series leads to the day players, are pitch perfect.

One of the best TV shows on right now. Season two is incredible and features one of the craziest season finales I have ever watched. It's pretty violent, but if you're ok with that then I highly recommend the show. Word of advice... You must watch season one first. The season consistently refers to things that happened in season one. Enjoy!

This series has proven to be engrossing and hypnotic, with it's plots and characters. Despite the nature of the program and the gruesomeness of the murders, they are presented as beautiful works of art, that turn your stomach, but catch your eye. The various contrast they use in this series are stunning and the acting absolutely perfect.

The picture is clear and sharp. The sound is excellent. The extra features are cool. These discs are well worth it! I've been enjoying Hannibal marathons since I bought them. I love the Play All feature so all the episodes on the disc will play one after the other without having to go back to the menu and select them. Awesome.

Hannibal season 1 was fantastic and pretty much required you to binge watch the whole season in one sitting. Season 2 is even more addictive. You're on the edge of your seat until the last minute of the last disc. The series that rewrote the way you saw Thomas Harris' world is even better in season 2!
