This is a fun sandbox game. You get to see your world grow from nothing to a luscious and active world. However, starting out from scratch can be very overwhelming for some to the point where the person might give up. It's suggested to start with cube start already has life so the player can understand the mechanics of the game. No real ending goal to the game. You create life and keep life going. That's the motive of the game, keep life going. If you're into these type of SIMS-like games, they go for it because it can be rewarding when your cube flourish.

Populous Lite, for a new generation.

If you remember the game Populous from way back when, Happy Birthdays is somewhat similar. You play "god" in the sense that you form land, water, etc. and watch life either thrive or die in response. My description is grossly over-simplifying things, but that's the gist of it. If you've already played this on PS4 or PC - where it's known as "Birthdays: The Beginning" then you likely don't need the Switch version. Both of the other versions are definitely superior and the game itself isn't very well optimized for portable play. That said, it's still a good time and even quasi-educational for little kids (7 - 9 years old) because it teaches about nature and the relationships lifeforms have with it - though not in a completely realistic context obviously.

Honestly it’s the title of the game and cover art that got me looking in its direction. Seeing gameplay got me to trying something I’m not verse in. The price isn’t a full fledge release @ $60 dollars. That made the decision easier to try a new game that I’m actually enjoying.

This is a very interesting little game, definitely not for everyone! I enjoyed it but I enjoy weird games now and then. You build worlds as a strange little character and see all kinds of crazy creatures!

This game is actually fun and entertaining if you like simple and creating stuff. There is not much story to it because you are basically creating stuff. I personally found it enjoyable but I would for sure recommend for a younger child because they will find the cuteness of the creatures appealing and it is pretty simple.

Your main roll is to raise or lower terrain. In doing so it adds water and mountain as wells as raising or lowering temperature. Certain animals like certain conditions and once you meet them they spawn. It is really fun to try to unlock all species!

I had hope this game was more like a sim instead you make change to the environment and speed up time for evolution to take place. I beat the game within 2 days but there are small challenges I didn't bother with. It's a great game for kids to understand how evolution took place and what can happen with each decision that is made.

This is not for everyone. Its a niche world building BIOM game more in common with something like SIM EARTH. Its something worth playing, but its not going to be fore everyone. Try a demo

Happy birthdays is a neat twist on games like Minecraft where you build a world and see what is born out of it. It was a pretty fun experience, but didn't hold my attention for long.

This game is so interesting. I've never played a game like it. You basically play God and get to interact and change all different kinds of species. Not an action packed game, by more detailed and intricate!
