Setup of the receiver was easy. It connected without trouble to my TV, Blu-ray player and iPod. Sound through the Klipsch speakers is very good.

This is a pretty basic home theater receiver by Harman Kardon. At 425W for 5.1 channels it's somewhat underpowered and those power ratings are often suspect in mainstream audio receivers. (Go into the Magnoila room where the power ratings are reliable). Very basic. It'll will give you surround sound if you the right speakers, but it won't blow your socks off and you can find better models from better names (Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer (Elite)) for the same money. Additionally this is almost a two year old model with little to no upgrade when the industry has added quite a bit of functionality (Dolby Atmos, streaming services, 5.1-11.2 configurations, multiple speaker zone sound).

I went trough two receivers before I traded for a Pioneer model. The first one would shut off periodically. Than at one point it simply would not turn on. The second one shut off by itself the first day out of the box. An internet search reveled a number of people having the same issue with Harmon Kardon consumer receivers. When I went to pick out a replacement at my local Best Buy, the salesperson told me if I had asked her before I bought the Harmon Karon she would not have recommended it. I do commend Best Buy and their customer service because they made the exchange painless. But I'm not sure why they continue to sell a model they know is defective.

Total Harmonic Distortion for a $400 receiver is incredible. Love harmon/cardon sound.

Harman Kardon always made and still makes great products; it's a pleasure to rediscover music you hadn't listen to in a while through this receiver.

Very clear sound. Helps with my overall surround sound. My tv sound like a theater.

Overall this is a good receiver. Internet connection and the good decoders. After owning it for more than two years, however, I'm trading it out for another brand. Sometimes the TV screen blanks for a moment then comes back on. Every once in a while it stops outputting audio and I have to switch inputs and back for it to play again. These annoyances have been going on for about a year, I'm just finally annoyed enough to spend the money for a replacement. Not recommended if you want a solid receiver to last more than a year or so without small annoyances.
