I've enjoyed using the air-fryer and it performs as promised; but the materials and assembly are rather shoddy.

I'm not very familiar with air fryers to be honest. This was my first time so I'm not sure if it was just faulty or if its supposed to cool that way. I tried two dishes, fries and onion rings. Both attempts left me very disappointed. Following the recipes provided with this unit it took 3X longer to cook than was suggested in the recipe book and even then some of it wasn't cooked all the way. My experience was very bad but I'd try another air fryer.

after reading other reviews, decided not to keep this air fryer. Seemed like it would be an ok item for cooking small items, but too much work involved with it.

This product has very poor controls that are almost impossible to see; this results in questions about what's going on. The first time we tried to use it was alarming, for it got so hot the plastic parts inside melted. I returned it.

Although I was in the market for an air fryer, I happened upon this particular air fryer when it was part of Best Buy's "Deal Of The Day" promotion. Regularly priced $119, I managed to purchase it for $49 thanks to the DOTD promotion. Having used it several times already, I can easily see why it would retail for $119, as it is a very well designed air fryer, is very easy to use, easy to clean and easy to maintain.
It uses about as much power as a traditional, modern microwave would use. I have yet to try all the recipes that were inside of the included cookbook, but I have a feeling any food I make in the near future will be very easy to cook using this air fryer.
As it advertises, it uses heated air to circulate throughout the interior in order to cook the food. Some foods are very easy to cook in it, such as store bought frozen french fries while others make take a while to get the hang of, such as fried chicken wings (aka buffalo wings).
The french fries were the very first item I had to try, simply because other people who use air fryers say that the french fries turn out just like they were freshly fried. Now, I have yet to make homemade french fries but those store bought french fries turned out excellent. They tasted and crunched just like they had been taken out of a deep fryer! Now, when you realize that the frozen french fries are actually already cooked partially, all you have to do is cook them the rest of the way in order for them to be edible. Traditional deep frying is always the best and most authentic way to cook foods like french fries but dealing with the mess, cleanup and oil that the food will be soaking up, it just isn't worth it in the long run, especially if you're watching your diet.
With this air fryer, that changes everything in terms of how you can cook your food. When it comes to modern households, you can now choose to cook your food in a multitude of ways; over the stove, in a pot, on a grill, on a skillet, in an oven, in a microwave oven, in a toaster oven, in a pressure cooker, in a Crock Pot (to name a few) and now, you can add to that list; in an air fryer.
When you think about it, an air fryer is actually like an oven but with the advanced feature of having air circulate the heat as opposed to a regular oven, where the food simply gets cooked from all sides just by the temperature. An air fryer (for the most part) evenly cooks whatever food you cook in it, usually in a fraction of the time it would take if you used a traditional oven.
One of the things you'll want to be careful of is the types of food you cook in it. Frozen foods that were previously cooked (french fries, potato wedges, egg rolls, pizza rolls, corn dogs, jalapeno poppers, etc.) always come out excellent, as long as you follow the directions on what settings to use to cook those particular foods. Part way through the cooking process, you'll want to 'shake up' or turn all of the food in the air fryer pot to make sure all sides get cooked evenly. This way, you get the most authentic, fried food taste.
When it comes to food that has not yet been deep fried, such as egg rolls or anything similar, it is best that you use a traditional deep fryer first, then you can use the air fryer to re-heat the previously fried foods. (It even states this in the manual) Now, that's not to say you can't actually cook these raw foods, they just might not turn out the way you'd traditionally want them.
Cleaning of the air fryer is quite easy. Usually, you won't be cleaning much of the interior or exterior of the air fryer itself with most of the cleaning effort being focused on the air fryer pot or the included grill platform.
Since the pot and the grill platform are coated with a non stick Teflon type of material, everything pretty much rinses off from the pot or grill platform with a little bit of soap and water. Just be sure to use a sponge, paper towel or nylon pad to clean the pot, as any other abrasive material will definitely damage the coating. Sometimes, you don't need to use anything; just your hands to run through and get the foodstuffs off of the pot.
Overall, this is one of the best and time-saving purchases I've ever made. It makes the whole thing even sweeter because I got a really good deal on this air fryer.

It's hot, cook frozen salmon burger patty within 10 mins. The grill could be flat all around instead of having the handle in the middle but not a deal breaker. The back of the air fryer gets really hot so don't have in in front of food that could spoils. Overall best to buy on sale for $50.
