What makes this present-day western crime thriller work so well is not from it employing any artificially intense dramatics or hyped-up action, but from the ordinariness of the characters and events. Taking place in New Mexico and West Texas, its sense of time and place is so well-defined it's hard to believe its director, David Mackenzie was born in Scotland. And here he managedsto nail a certain piece of Western Americana while telling a tale that follows two brothers (played to perfection by Chris Pine and Ben Foster) who pull a series of bank robberies against branches of the Texas Midlands Bank in order to save their family ranch that is being foreclosed on by the same bank. The crusty, persistent Texas Ranger trying to nab them is Jeff Bridges, an actor who, over 45 years ago, had ironically starred in "The Last Picture Show" which took place in the same town in which one of the robberies does: Archer City, Texas. This is a special character-driven, authentic modern-day western of subtlety and atmosphere, and a film that is as true to human behavior as any in recent years.

Picked this Blu-ray up at a great price. This is a well done, enjoyable movie. Highly recommended.

Another good bank heist movie if you like action packed movies this is one of them

I recently purchased a New Samsung Q90T 65" (2020) Q-LED TV and matching Q950T Samsung Soundbar and 4K UHD Blu-ray Player and wanted to purchase a few really good Blu-ray Movies to show off the picture and ATMOS surround audio. This DVD does not disappoint, saw it on Netflix long ago and it was really good. Best Buy had it on sale at a really good price! Great movie with plenty of action scenes with very good Surround sound. And again I got it on sale! Better than going to the Movies, especially now since COVID-19.

A great, action-packed movie that will leave you wanting more!

This movie was such a pleasant surprise. I picked it up because it was only $6 at a Black Friday sale. I figured it wouldn't be a big loss if it turned out to be mediocre. As it turns out, the movie is fantastic. Great cast, great acting, great storyline, great cinematography. I've watched it three times since picking it up in 2019, and I'd be happy to watch it again, any time. If you haven't yet seen it, you really need to give this one a try. It's an overlooked gem.

This was another blind buy but a good movie and 4K looks good

This movie is an excellent suspenseful crime drama with some action mixed in. The story line is believable and is one you need to pay close attention to in order to fully enjoy the film. The language and violence depicted are both strong so keep this one away from the children. The idea of robbing banks for a arguably noble cause (I won't spoil the plot too much) is what makes this fun. I found myself at different times throughout the movie rooting for both the brothers robbing the banks and the authorities trying to catch them. It is a enjoyable film, if you can deal with the violence and language.
