Awesome TV - a great high end option
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had both an entry level Samsung curved 4K LED and an LG 55” OLED 4K TV. This TV I would stack right in the middle of those - I believe it’s an excellent value, and I hope to explain why in this review. The Samsung I paid $1300 for, it had a decent picture when I got rid of it, but the remote was weird, the apps were glitchy. I wasn’t a huge fan, especially for $1300. Enter the Hisense 55H9D Plus. This TV is amazing - PS4 Pro games look GORGEOUS and flow very well. Watching football is a dream as well, never noticed any jagged edges or splotchy scenes. To continue on picture quality, the blacks on this TV are the best I’ve seen - on an LED TV. An OLED TV is still better for the best blacks on screen, but this Hisense is phenomenal- especially at this price. I highly recommend this TV to anyone who needs an awesome 55” set that has excellent picture quality and works well for games. I would highly recommend over any competition - Hisense may be an up and comer, but it has firmly established itself as an awesome quality brand for a low price.

Enjoy the glory of 4k media with amazing color
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The H9 Series 4K ULED HDR Smart TV by Hisense gives you everything that you want from a 4K TV while maintaining a relatively thin form factor. First and foremost, whenever you are watching a movie or using some sort of media that can take advantage of the 4K resolution of this TV, it looks absolutely amazing. The colors are vibrant and you can see the differences between a very wide spectrum of colors. This continues to be true whenever playing media that is below 4K resolution, such as at 1080P. The sound quality is great on its own, but it can definitely be enhanced with some external speakers. This is a Smart TV, so you are able to connect the TV to your wired or wireless network and use some online services straight from the remote control. Such as Netflix, YouTube, and so forth. It can be a bit of a pain to try and type using the onscreen keyboard, but considering that the TV is handling all of this without a third party device, this is just a minor inconvenience that you can get use to over time. A small word of advice, even though this TV is super thin it weighs a bit over 50 pounds and its overall length is quite wide, so you will need at least two people working together to do anything with this TV. To move it out of its box, laying it down so that the support legs can be attached, placing the TV onto a TV stand or mounting it onto a wall.

Pretty good but a little pricey
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While Hisense might not be the first brand you think of for 4k TV's, this is a pretty stout little TV that's comparable to features a lot of other manufacturers have. The display, obviously, is the first thing to notice. The screen has a pretty thin profile with a very small bezel which looks pretty good. The blacks and colors on the screen are quite vibrant and deep which is what you want out of a 4K TV. I played a 4K version of Planet Earth II and it looked fantastic. Every detail on the screen was clear and crisp without any distortion or pixelation. As this is a smart TV as well, there are plenty of the usual apps included as well as a couple I've never heard of. You got your usual Netflix, Amazon and YouTube as well as Vudu and a couple other newcomers to the streaming game. The TV itself, again, has a very thin profile to it which gives it a really clean, modern look to it. Remote is pretty standard so it may take some time getting used to. And there are more than enough ports for all your necessary video gear. There's 4 HDMI slots and 3 USB slots along with a digital out. Pretty much everything you need to hook your 4K entertainment system. Overall, very nice TV and delivers on both performance, outputs and appearance. My only real gripe with this is the price. Had this been priced around ~$800 or so, I think it would be a good bargain. The big TV manufacturers all have comparably priced TV's in the $1000 range however you can get much larger sizes than this. You can easily find 65 or 70 inch TV's in the $1000 price range now so it seems either Hisense is trying to go against the big boys or preparing for deep discounts come the holiday time to make their brand appear more appealing. I really think the pricing should be a tad lower than the competitors however that doesn't necessarily equate to this being any lesser of a TV. Great TV with great quality and functionality.

4K TV With Strong Picture But Lacking A Little
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the 55H9D Plus installed now for a couple of days and overall it is a pretty good TV. Most of the time I have been spending calibrating the TV for my connected devices (DirecTV receiver, PS3, XBOX360, Fire TV, and 4K Blu-Ray Player) and testing different video content types. I was flipping back and forth between the Fire TV and Blu-Ray devices to test / fine tune a 4K video source. When you take the TV out of the box you will notice it is a pretty nice looking TV. It has a sleek looking slim silver bezel and the included stand gives it a nice stylish look. There are plenty of ports on the side and back of the TV to connect your devices. There are four HDMI ports total with two on the side and two on the back. Two of the HDMI ports are 2.0a and support HDCP 2.2 and the other two are HDMI 1.4 ports. You will also find three USB ports (2-2.0 and 1-3.0), component and composite video connections, antenna connector, and LAN port. There are also optical and headphone audio out ports. Setting up the TV initially was very easy. The wizard walks you through the basic settings and connecting the TV to your home network. The interface and menu options are clean and easy. Everything is pretty much where you would expect it and there are a number of advanced / expert settings that you can tweak to customize the TV to your specific needs. Also, flipping through the interface and various menus was quite fast. It took me a little while to customize the picture settings based on the video source and device type I was using. I wanted to watch a variety of content before writing up a review. I watched standard TV, multiple sports programs (baseball, hockey, and football), streamed shows (Daredevil, Death Note, The Tick), a couple of 4K Blu-Ray movies (Deadpool and John Wick 2), and had my kids play a number of PS3 and XBOX games. After calibrating things to my liking I did not really notice any motion blur or judder while watching the various content types. Brightness and contrast levels appear to be really good but the black levels look to be lacking a bit. This was more noticeable when viewing HDR content. White levels are excellent and the overall color gamut is pretty impressive. While watching SDR content colors are bright, accurate, and quite vivid. Background details and environments appear detailed and there were a number of scenes that the picture and colors looked really good. This was not quite the case with HDR content though. Finer details did not appear to be as crisp and detailed. Shadowy and darker scenes looked nice but there were a number of times the mediocre black levels stood out. Flesh tones are nicely balanced with both SDR and HDR content. Overall, the picture when watching SDR content was quite excellent. HDR content didn’t quite give me the same experience I am used to like with my other 4K TV. Sound quality isn’t bad for TV speakers. Bass levels aren’t really great but for listening from the TV it is not half bad. It is better than most TV speakers. We have an older sound bar with wireless sub system that I hooked up to the TV using the optical output. We seem to be having some sporadic issues with it. Sometimes there is a chirp sound when switching channels or inputs, sometimes there is a serious lag in sound, and sometimes there is no sound at all. There were no issues with the sound bar with the TV we disconnected before hooking up the H9D Plus. We would have to change inputs on the TV or power cycle it in order to fix the issue. The remote control is a little on the larger side. The buttons are nicely spaced and organized. The commonly used buttons are where you would expect them to be and easy to find. There are five quick launch buttons for common services – Amazon, Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, and Fandango Now. We did not configure the “Smart TV” services on the TV since we have the configured on other devices connected to the TV. Scanning through things though you will see a number of the standard services but we noticed that there were a few common ones missing which was kind of surprising. Most noticeable were no Hulu, Crunchyroll, PlayStation Vue, or Sling TV. All in all the 55H9D Plus is a pretty good TV but for this price point I was hoping for a little bit better. It is definitely worth looking at and comparing if you are out shopping for a new 4K TV though.

Color me impressed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like most things in life, we all have our preferences. Android vs Apple, PC vs Mac, Republicans vs Democrats. While none are right or wrong, they can cause some very heated debates. With TVs, there are a lot more options and therefore a lot more opinions. Hisense wasn’t ever on my radar. I’d heard of the brand, but never one that ranked high on my list – based solely on opinion nothing factual or direct experience. When Best Buy gave me the option to review the 55H9D, I was excited to learn more of the brand and see what had changed since my last TV purchase 2 years ago. I’m a casual TV viewer – sports, sitcoms, the occasional action flick. My gaming days are long gone with the exception of some cocktail-infused Nintendo Wii battles. All sound goes through an AVR, so the sound quality from the TV isn’t important to me. Let’s get started. The design is great. The TV is extremely thin and has a nice metal bezel, which gives it a very high-end look. Setup was easy. Very typical, HDMI, USB, Optical Out, Component In. Power it on and breeze through the configurations. The 55H9D quickly discovered and connected to my home wireless and then checked for software updates. Personally, I liked the layout of the remote. The buttons all were placed logically and had a nice feel to them. The menus were nicely laid out and again, very intuitive. It was easy to scroll through the different audio and video settings to meet your needs. Speaking of video – that IS why people buy TVs. I have to admit I was extremely impressed. I wasn’t sure what to expect for a budget 4K TV, but I felt the colors and brightness were great. I watched content in both 4K and 1080p and found it extremely vivid. The dark scenes were handled very nice without much distraction from backlighting. Overall, I was extremely pleased. The only issue I have is with the OS and support for other apps, but I personally don’t know anyone who only uses the apps built into the TV. It seems most are hooking up an antenna, cable box, Roku, AppleTV, etc. For me this isn’t a big enough reason to count against marks against it.

Ultra Bright Ultra Clear
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hisense ULED 4K Smart TV is amazing. Plenty of connections (USBx3, HDMIx4, optical and more) that make attaching to gaming consoles and audio devices very easy. The picture is simply amazing. The colors are bright and vibrant, and the motion is smooth and clear. 4k images and so life like. Watching Ultra 4K movies on the Hisense 4K TV makes the viewing experience even more superb. Gaming on the Hisense is awesome! The HDR really brings compatible games to life. The sound quality is amazing as well. You can really hear the dialogue in the movie. The speakers really deliver the excitement of car chases and explosions. I would definitely recommend this Hisense ULED 4K HDR television to anyone that is looking for an amazing TV that makes your movie watching experience magical.

surprisingly good tv
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a big fan of HiSense products, but this tv has really changed my opinion of them; I have learned they are the 3rd largest mfg of tv's in the world, and are the leaders is sales everywhere else except the usa, so its no wonder that this unit it so impressive; great features, awesum picture, good remote, so, if it lasts as long as the major brands that we are used to here, this brand is definately one to consider when looking for a new tv!

Really a great TV!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 1st LED TV and I replaced an 8-year-old plasma unit. This is a very light unit and clear instructions for setup. I was able to mount it to my TV stand with the old hardware, and it comes with a table top stand. My ATT U-Verse was able to pair with it immediately, and the included remote works very well. It's not backlit and doesn't have a qwerty keyboard which I found odd for a "smart TV". I was able to plug a wireless window's keyboard into one of the available USB ports and it works great for web browsing, signing into sites, etc. There are 4 HDMI ports along with the usual inputs and 1 USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. The picture and sound is phenomenal and the built-in apps such as Hulu, Netflix and Amazon work flawlessly. I

Thanks to all you reviewers and to Best Buy ...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't add anything to what's been said already about features, settings, etc., so all I have to say in that regard is a hearty thank you to the "Most Helpful" reviewers who summarized everything in excruciating detail for prospective "techy" purchasers like me. Having purchased this TV nine days ago and connected it to my router via Ethernet to a Roku Ultra and thence via high-speed HDMI to HDMI port 1, let me echo one very important fact: the TV is set to HDCP 2.0. To enable HDCP 2.2 you must go into the Picture settings and change the HDMI/HDCP setting to "Enhanced." I did not do this at first and started getting "HDCP Unauthorized" error messages from my Roku, which lock up the Roku when they occur and can only be resolved by unplugging the Roku and plugging it back in again ... often causing the error to recur immediately. If you get these messages from your Roku, check that setting before assuming your HDMI cable is to blame. Now for the reason for the second half of my review's title. Last Sunday (March 4) prior to my purchase, I did a little shopping around and found the TV on a one-week-only sale at a popular membership warehouse for $498. (Yes, you read that correctly.) Best Buy matched the price! Thank you, Best Buy, for keeping a satisfied customer who has spent thousands of dollars at your stores since my first foray into home theater way back in 2001! First movie I watched was James Bond's Spectre in 4K via Amazon Prime via the Roku. Outstanding picture ... I prefer the look of the "Energy Saving" mode with smooth motion control; otherwise everything's pretty much default. Audio is 5.1 via the Hisense's digital audio out optical jack on the back of the TV into my Sony STR-DE875 (which I bought from Best Buy in 2003). The TV is wall-mounted and my audio stuff is mounted in an Insignia NS-HWD1848 "Gaming TV Cabinet" that I also purchased at Best Buy; see photo. Love the TV, love the price! Get this TV, you won't be disappointed at any price!

Worthy Bang-for-Your-Buck Investment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Based on the $599.99 sale price point, feature set, picture quality, and design, I can no longer justify paying four figures for a 4K HDR TV after upgrading with this third Hisense purchase. The picture on this set is stunning and I couldn’t be more pleased! The metal stand to compliment the frame was also a nice touch. The side viewing angles on this set (when compared to the H8 series) are drastically improved. I even liked the four black plastic pieces used to secure the packaging…once removed, you can easily lift up the top of the box instead of having to pull a heavy TV out. It would be beyond nice if Opera TV was removed and replaced with a TV app set up that includes more major streaming services. I currently use Amazon Fire TV, so Opera isn’t a much of a deal breaker at this point. I believe the H9E series will include Android TV…maybe a future software update can allow for Android TV on the H9D+??? Overall, this TV is a treat to watch and it’s the perfect complement for cutting the cord.

Great Value!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was an easy set up. Out of the box I was probably 3 minutes getting connected to the internet and searching Netflix for something spectacular to watch. The TV is very responsive when switching between aps and also switching through the Netflix menus. The bezel, though not microscopic, is very low profile and provides minimum interference with viewing. For the purpose of watching movies, the picture is great. Deep rich blacks and bright vivid color. I was also quite pleased with the sound quality. All in all a great investment for the price

Elite TV for bargain price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Full disclosure.. I'm a little biased. I bought the 65 plus edition right before Xmas, and so I'm writing this review on behalf of my parents who's Panasonic 55' TV went out.. Let's talk features for price.. you won't find these spec anywhere at this price point. If you do, there's usually something missing. Let me give you a piece of advice to those considering OLED.. they are great, but did you know that nearly all the demo TV's are running 100gb 4k demo discs? So that amazing picture you see at the stores is misleading since the industry isn't really there yet, and you will pay double or triple the price for a TV that's maybe fractionally better. This TV has everything you want without settling. My parents were 'Thrilled' with the picture for the Olympics and Super Bowl.. They had visited the membership store and weren't impressed. Now they are. I won't go into specs because you can find that on the other reviews, but I'll tell you I have had many compliments on my TV and people asking how to get one.. TV's have become like phones, it's hard to find one people have envy over, but this delivers. Don't question name brand, just buy it while it's still kind of unknown, I don't expect that will last for long. PG

A solid TV for a good price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very hesitant about this TV. Quite frankly I haven' heard to much of the name Hisense and usually buy brand name but I read a lot of positive reviews on this particular model. So I thought why not Best Buy has a good return policy if I didn't like. Well guess what I haven't taken it back and really like this TV. I had a Samsung 1080p model and this TV blows away the Samsung picture. I received a PS4 Pro to go with this TV and the HDR makes the picture leaps and bounds better then the 1080p Samsung model. In general unless you want to spend a lot more on a TV this TV is in the Upper Class of TVs and if youir like me and worried about the name Hisense you can put that to bed because this TV is worth the price Best Buy is charging.

Great UHD TV and Great Picture!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great quality TV with crisp pictures and great color. You'd be surprised to find it quite competitive to the more expensive models. In addition, I love the integration of all available streaming apps such as Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, etc. It has built in wireless and Miracast so you can stream from any computers or smartphones. This TV is fully loaded and one of the best investments I'd think you will have.

this is one astounding TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the H8C which was an incredible TV for 500$, definitely a picture that on other name brand tvs can cost twice as much. It is the only Hisense model reviewed on rtings- https://www.rtings.com/ I now have the H9D plus 55’ (which I purchased at an incredible 600$ on sale). This TV’s picture is beyond anything I have seen on except to 1200-1500$ price range tv’s, or OLED. The picture is beyond stunning, clear, and the Blacks are deep (don’t listen to the critics say they lack, on HDR they can be very dark). The picture is like you are there, or looking through a window, a depth perception is present that makes it lifelike. Transitions are smooth without engaging the various motion settings. Easy to set up. There are numerous controls, even for specific colors, saturation, brightness etc. Flesh tones can be made very accurate. Once you tweak the settings for fine tuning to your room you have picture that is excellent in clarity. It sparkles and is amazingly accurate. Also what needs mentioning is that the settings for brightness, color, contrast are set on half, unlike some other TVs that are often on high. Backlight does not have to be on full to get a bright picture. The sound (which can also be adjusted) is some of the best from TV speakers. I have mine set on 9-13. Their apps react quick (Netflix, youtube etc,), the only suggestion I have is to make Hulu available. The remote is good and easy to use. Hisense TV advertising in the US is not there so many do not know of them but this model is comparable, or better than the top tier models of the name brand companies. If you question the longevity compared to other familiar name brands get an insurance plan which is worth the peace of mind. Overall you cannot be disappointed with this TV’s picture you will be very satisfied with the competitive price.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great picture and motion. Looked at the competition and decided to give this a try. No regrets. Primarily looked at Samsung and Vizio. The Samsung was out of the price range (bought the Hisense for $599). Considered the Vizio, but would have preferred the next model up, which Best Buy does not carry this year, because of the features and inputs available on it. Color and brightness is excellent, and blacks are very good. Do not hesitate to consider this. Hisense is the 3rd largest TV manufacturer in the world.

A What !?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm an old guy and was moving up from a regular 40" Samsung to a 55. I'd done a lot of on- line research and talked with family and friends but the models change so quickly that comparing what they had to what's on display now isn't the best. I ordered a 55" smart samsung from WM but after 2 days I took it back. I did learn some things. So when I visited BB I knew more of what I wanted. I like headphones to watch TV so I don't wake the dead or dying. The salesperson pointed me at a Hisense. "Never heard of it! What else?" I told him I wanted a high refresh rate. Also 4K, He Kept pointing back at the Hisense. I don't play games on the TV or scroll thru Hulu or Spotiify. I bought the Hisense after roaming and looking. At home after I had it in place I operated it as a regular tv hooked to DirecTV and not get into the web side of it. This allowed me to become familiar of where I wanted the sound level and the picture contrast. The next day I plugged the Firsestick in and operated with it for the day. Third day I hooked it to the internet and took the Firestick away.It was an easy transition. I like the vivid picture setting and I have added a sound bar. Overall I am very happy with the set. It was on sale @600. So far so good. Taking 3 days to get the final variations set allowed me not to get overwhelmed and frustrated with menus and settings.
