My expectation of this product was set too high. It is not compatible with all bluetooth devices. It is huge and the sound is not as impressive as lead to believe. Price does not meet quality. It is an over priced ugly speaker

Its an OK speaker. Its loud and helpful for alarms but Google Assistant had an update a year ago that really made it useless across all Google speakers and Google display. I had it for about a year and during most of that time it was amazing up until that horrible background update they did. I would not recommend it until they fix the assistant and you don't have to tell it what to do 10 times.

Bluetooth is horrible with pairing two max speakers. Sound is distorted and cracks. Not able to connect to TV or Streaming services due to lip sync doesn’t work and it’s several words behind why watching.

      Hi Winkie,

Thanks for letting us know of your issues with Google Home Max devices. We're sorry for the inconvenience and we'd like to help resolve it for you.

If you're willing, we'd like to recommend a few steps that you can perform to try and fix the Bluetooth issue:

      - Reboot both devices then try pairing and connecting again.
      - Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
      - Perform a factory data reset on the both Google Home Max devices and try pairing and connecting again.
      - You can also pair the Google Home Max devices with another Bluetooth device, and check if the issue only happens on the first Bluetooth device.

Moreover, TV is currently an unsupported use case for Google Home Max. However, if your TV has an analog output and the ability to set a sync delay, it is possible to use Google Home Max to play your TV’s sound.

Your Google Home Max devices come with a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty starting from the date of original purchase. If you continue to experience distorted sounds even without using Bluetooth or if the issues are still unresolved, you can contact our support team by visiting https://support.google.com/googlenest/contactflow Nest

Not impressed - the speaker is VERY heavy, and sound quality for music is not up to par with comparable speakers. Otherwise, connects to google Home system very well.. Returned this item.

This speaker costs more than the Apple HomePod but sounds worse. It has less palpable bass, fuzzier highs, and terrible microphones for picking up your voice. Playing it at 75%+ volume? Get ready to shout at the top of your lungs to trigger Google Assistant. The only redeeming quality is the sheer number of services it can work with. Is two stars generous? Honestly, maybe.

Was excited to purchase, but it was taking down my wifi. It says it was sending to many packets and over whelming the wifi signal. Do not buy.

Really Wanted to Love This But Can't

I've been holding off on purchasing a smart speaker until one came along that actually sounds good. Let me say this right off, this speaker does sound good. Really good. It gets loud, has great base, and produces clear sounds. However, that's really where my positive impressions end. I was immediately disappointed that I couldn't use my voice to play music I'd uploaded to the Google Play Music service. I have albums that are not available digitally, so these are legally ripped and uploaded songs. Funny enough, although I couldn't use voice commands to play the songs, I could play them by casting from the Google Play Music app. Ok...fine. Whatever. It's a minor inconvenience, right? Well, it is until the speakers stopped taking cast commands from my phone. I'd try to select music to play, the speaker would make a "boop!" sound, then nothing. I called support several times, and to their credit, they did a decent job over the phone. Fixes included unplugging all the Google Home speakers (I had five, two Google Home Max and three regular Google Home speakers), reseting my router, uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Play Music and Google Home apps. The system would work for an hour, then right back to the same problems. You should not have to troubleshoot your speaker every time you use it. It should just work. It broke my heart to return these speakers, but Bestbuy took them back and let me exchange them. To summarize... PROS: Great sound. Super customer service from Google and Bestbuy. Design and packaging is beautiful. Setup isn't easy, but not overly difficult either. CONS: Can't play legal, uploaded music using voice commands. Casting capability drops out constantly requiring complete reset.

Sounds great when it doesn't stutter

Yup, great sounding speaker, really fills up the room. The problem is that there is a long-standing issue which Google knows about where the bluetooth connection will degrades to the point that the sound stutters and eventually becomes unlistenable, forcing you to repair to your playing device. Wash, rinse and repeat because this will happen about every 30 minutes. 2 stars for the sound but nothing else.

I listened to this speaker in store before I purchased it, and it sounded pretty good. When I got it home and set it up, I wasn't so impressed. To be honest, the Home Max doesn't sound much better than my $40 Logitech computer speakers. I'm no audiophile, so keep that in mind. The other thing that is driving me crazy is, when I have my music on and turned up pretty loud, on 80% or so, the speaker can't ever hear me say "Hey Google", even if I scream at it. I have to get behind it and lean in close, so that it will hear me. I was under the impression that it would be able to hear me better, even when the volume is turned up loud. For $399, I can't recommend this speaker.
