This humidifier has a water pump that transfers water to an upper tier section where the ultrasonic transducer is located, it creates water vapor through ultrasonic vibrations, and a fan in the bottom of the unit blows air upward causing the humidity to blow upward from the top of the unit. This humidifier is definitely simpler to fill with water compared to some other humidifiers, all you have to do is fill a container with purified or distilled water and pour it into the top of the Honeywell. I customized my Honeywell humidifier with a rectangular piece of plastic that I cut to fit the top shape of the humidifier, it protects dust buildup that would otherwise fall into the water reservoir. This Honeywell humidifier does spatter a bit of water onto the top of the unit when it is humidifying, this is only because the ultrasonic transducer is located near the top. This water spattering is slightly annoying, but if the humidity dial is turned down, the water spattering reduces to almost nothing on the lowest setting. This water spattering effect does not happen with ultrasonic humidifiers that have the ultrasonic transducer located near the bottom, but those units do not have a water pump, which has an overall positive effect of constantly mixing the water in the reservoir, and also causes less gunk to build up directly on the top of the transducer, since the water is flowing when the humidifier is on. This humidifier does not have a humidistat, so it needs to be turned off once the humidity has risen to the desired level, but in my experience with humidifiers having humidistats, is that since the humidity is emitted from the device, built in humidistats usually are way inaccurate because the humidity directly surrounding the humidifier rises more than in the rest of the room. In my included pictures, you can see a green/blue colored X-Power fan pointing upwards, this has an invaluable effect of blowing the humidity upward and dispersing it far into the room. I also have my humidifier plugged into a remote controllable appliance module, it has a small remote with an off and on button, and the appliance module is a small rectangular device which plugs into the wall outlet and the humidifier plugs into it. With this seutp, all I need to do once the humidity rises, is press the off button and the humidifier turns off, of which I have an indoor thermometer which also has a hygrometer, and it displays the room’s humidity level in percentage, I find that around 50 – 55 % humidity is optimal. Room digital thermometers which have a hygromter, and remote controllable appliance modules can be purchased at most home improvement stores. Quite a few other humidifiers available, cost quite a bit more and are also more high maintenance, it is mostly the water filling process that is a hassle with humidifiers having water tanks needing to be removed from the unit, before the tank can be filled. Do not expect the best results if ever trying to use plain tap water, as this will cause the impurities in the water to be expelled in the mist, and it will produce a white layer of dust throughout the room, this is common to all ultrasonic humidifiers. PURE WATER = NO WHITE MIST This humidifier does not have any hard water deposit filters, so always use purified or distilled water, and this will avoid hard water deposits that will occur if using plain tap water. Overall this is a nice humidifier.

I bought this humidifier by the advice of a store representative. He sold me on the warranty and the fact that he said it was the last one because they sell well. The machine lasted for 3 weeks. I travel a lot for work and did not have time to go exchange it before my "ELITE" 30 day return for your money back privilege. I did not mind because I just wanted to exchange for a working one. I ended up returning from my work trip a couple of weeks later. Seeing as how the rep insisted that the warranty allowed me to bring it to the place where it was purchased and they would exchange or be able to send it to get repaired. This was not the case, the 18 yr old customer service agent said that they could not exchange it because it was after 14 days. What a joke I have spent thousands of dollars at Best Buy. I recently was in the market for new appliances, needless to say I went to a specialty store and gave them my $3800. I know a corporation the size of Best Buy could bare less about me but what ever happened to helping your customer out. I also have been denied my reward certificates because the have such a ridiculous expectation period.

I've been happy with this product. The output is adjustable and the tank is really easy to refill - you can pour water into it just like you would a plant rather than having to take it apart and haul the tank to a sink like most older models I've owned. Another nice feature is that you can adjust the direction of the mist, which gives you more options for where you can place it without ruining your belongings. The dehumidifiers I've owned in the past have pretty much been disposable, typically lasting only one winter because they either break, you can't track down where to purchase the right sized filters, or they get so filthy that it's just not worth cleaning them. I've only had this one a few months so it's too early to say whether it will last any longer. It's convenient that there's no filter to change, but that made me question how to keep it from gumming up. For some odd reason the Best Buy where I purchased it didn't carry the cleaning cartridges so I ordered them online.

The quality of the product is excellent and you don't have to rob a bank to buy it. It has a slim line and isn't noticable in the corner of a room. The only drawback is I can hear it running. But my hearing is acute. It's very easy to fill.

Compact with design that takes up very little space on dresser. Mist emitted in one direction over bed sleeper position which I find useful. Small humidifiers can not possibly humidify an entire bedroom.

So far this humidifier runs somewhat quietly, I like that I can move it from room to room. It has a minimal night-lite showing the water level, it is not distracting at all to me. It runs all night, I turn it off during the day, but it did run dry one night and automatically turned off. It also has an adjustment to the amount of moisture coming out and a directional nozzle to guide the release. After using this for about a month now, I am going to buy a 2nd one for the other room so I won't have to move it! One negative is they do not sell the "cleaner" and such in the store, you have to buy it online. I don't use tap water in it, I use filtered water only. Hope it helps make it last longer, I don't think things last as long as they should these days, but I am hoping this will last for AT least 1 year, if I get 2 AWESOME!

We love this easy-to-fill humidifier ! It relieves dry skin that is often an issue in the winter for many folks here in the high desert of Western Colorado. Runs quietly, takes very little space, and humidifies several hundred square feet of our home very nicely !

I was looking for a humidifier that my elderly mom could refill by just pouring water into and not have to lift the reservoir, ect. This is perfect. However it is noisy so had to move it from bedroom to another area as it kept her up at night

It humidifier works great for what we need it for. We just use it in the bedroom and turn it on before bed to help our dry air from natural gas heat. Both my wife and I feel much better in the morning. We forgot to turn it on one night and were both felt horrible the next morning. It makes a huge difference in our quality of sleep!

My girlfriend and I bought a house last winter. We keep it pretty cold, 62 degrees in the Winter. This created some breathing problems this winter for my girl so we bought this unit. Works well in our bedroom which isn't big by any means, but the unit does very well for our needs.

My old humidifier was on the outs so I picked this one up. I wouldn't say it quiet, but the ability to fill it without taking a tank off is great. It also has a bright blue light that was initially distracting, but now seems to be fine. It acts like a night light.

This humidifier really works well. Having a humidity control is nice. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is because the running water is a little noisy

First, this is an ultrasonic humidifier -- the kind that requires the least maintenance. It requires keeping the water level constant over a piezoelectric disc. Other ultrasonics that I have used kept the disc at the bottom, and used a removable tank to hold the water. This one is COMPLETELY different -- it uses an open design, with the disc at the top! How does it get the water up there? It actually includes a water pump that keeps water circulating. The water is pumped up, and extra water just trickles over the side back into the reservoir. So, yes there is a moving part that might break, and the pump makes some noise. There is also a water filter (supposedly for harness) that will also have to be occasionally replaced. However, it does work, and works well. It is nice not having to lift up the tank to refill it -- you just pour water in using a pitcher. Overall, it makes a little noise, but it works well. The only real annoyance is the bright blue LED illuminating the water level.

This was a replacement for one that finally wore out from use. It's easy to clean (dishwasher or by hand) and I like that it's easy to fill from the top instead of having to take off a tank and use a faucet sprayer or a cup. Only requires an anti-bac Protec ball and the demineralization cartridge to run. The lowest setting lasts all night through mid morning with a full tank and keeps enough moisture in the bedroom for a good night's rest. Never had to use the highest setting so I can't say how long that lasts. The clear flow cover is a great feature too to keep little paws and tongues from getting at the water flow and causing problems with fur. It would get 5 stars if I could get at some of the areas to clean by hand instead of needing a dishwasher. Despite that, I'm satisfied with this & highly recommend it!
