When my battle axe space heater finally quit, it was time for me to bite the bullet and purchase a new one. I scanned Best Buy and other sites for something relatively inexpensive but something that would heat my computer room in my basement and the secondary bedroom. Both can get quite chilly on cold days when we don't want to over heat the entire house. When I came across the Honeywell Heat Genius, I chuckled at the marketing. It was at the top of my monetary threshold. The battle axe had fewer settings but at the same time had too many. It was only useful when the resistance wires were turned on at full blast. I discovered elsewhere ceramic heaters could be self-regulating and they wouldn't get red-hot to work, thereby making them safer. I decided to give Honeywell a try. Giving the bottom line first, it heated both spaces very well. It is quieter than the battle axe ever was. It is lighter, too. And, lo and behold, the various settings were useful and easily intuitive. One of the settings offers the ability for the upper and lower elements to be on simultaneously or separately. I use the lower element only when the tile floor is cold but the room is not so bad. I use the upper element only for the bedroom on similar conditions. One can also set the heater independently on high or low, or set the heater to a temperature setting. The latter may not be so useful if heating a limited area of a larger room, but it is useful for my purposes. Another setting is the countdown feature. One can set the heater to turn off to as much as two hours later in 30 minute increments. I used it once set to one hour when going to sleep. It did its job. The final setting is one I tested to see if it works -- it did work -- but I haven't really used it yet. That setting is the quiet setting. From what I can tell, it means the heater is on and radiates the area without the fan actually being on as well. The heater is fairly quiet already which is why I haven't actually used this setting in practice yet. It is still-of-the-night quiet in this setting, so I can see I might use this setting if on a conference call while teleworking. There are less expensive heaters but they mostly newer versions of my battle axe. The more expensive heaters seem to be more robust and may be worth the money if a real large area (like my entire basement or living room) needs to heated solely with a portable unit. This heater suits my needs perfectly.

    Quiet & Efficient

There are many settings to fine tune how you want the heater to be used. The heater it replaced had half as many settings but effectively it had only two -- full tilt or off. Everything in between on Old Betsy was useless. This has a countdown timer, high/low settings for feet/room/both, temp settings to cut on or off, and a quiet mode. The quiet mode kind of made me laugh as it was already quieter. Ceramic is safer to use than the metal bands that literally get red hot. I could have spent less but I would have gotten less. I could have spent more but with my mid-size bedroom or computer room, I saw no reason. It's light enough and small enough, taking it on a vacation where chilly nights are possible is a definite consideration.

Enjoying this heater so far. It's much quieter than my old space heater. More compact too. It's smaller than it looks in the photo. It seems to be very safe. The surface areas don't get hot and it shuts down if just wobbled. It has most of the settings you would need in a simple heater. In fact more settings than I even need (i just turn it on/off til i'm warm). But for those who want to control more exactly the heat levels, phases, and shut off times this unit has that. I have only needed it on Low so far which is still pretty warm when you're right next to it. The only thing I miss is that my old heater had mechanical dials, which you could set once and they would just stay that way. With this heater (and most newer heaters) they are all digital so you lose the settings when you turn it off; would be nice if your last settings could be saved. Other than that, I see nothing negative about this heater so far.

This heater is small but powerful, and I really like the 2 hour feature, especially at night because, for me, it's much safer than running all night. The 2 hours are broken into four 30-minute levels, starting at high and automatically shut-off after 2 hours. I'm paying attention to my electric usage because the bill is also very important to me and so far, it appears energy efficient.

I used a small personal heaters before for my bedroom but it was not enough I wanted to buy something that can heat up the whole place. Has several settings for personal, floor, or room, can adjust the temperature and can turn off in hour intervals. Also it has an auto turn off which is helpful if someone accidentally tips it over.

This is an excellent portable heater for my craft room. It is safe to use where I have lots of card stock and paper products everywhere in this room. The various settings make it easy to warm my room. It also is pretty quiet and the heat output is great. I love this heater.

This is going to be short and sweet. I'm often home a lot and I hate the idea of heating the entire house just for me. I also hate the gas bill when we do that as well. I went looking for a different heater at Best Buy but ended up getting this one instead. I was intrigued by the 'Quiet Mode' and it was about $30 cheaper than the one I had intended to get. This is an outstanding room heater. In the morning I close the door to my office and within minutes I have it at a toasty 72 degrees and then I hit the Quiet Mode button and I'm good for the rest of the day. I can barely even tell that it is there during the day which is exactly what I wanted. I sure didn't need or want one that sounds like a jet engine every time it drops below the target temp. My office is about 200-225 sq/ft and it does a great job in that space. I haven't tried it anywhere outside of my office so I can't say how well it would work in a larger room.

So far this heater is working as advertised. As the weather has gotten colder, it has kept up with the change. The ordering was easy and the shipping was quick. I would order from Best Buy again.

This Honeywell heater is just what you need to stay warm in the coldest room in the house. It has numerous heat setting options and also has a feature to set at night to keep the room comfortable during slumber. Tip over auto shutoff. Best room heater for my money.

I got this for my wifebwho is confined to a wheelchair, and spends much of her time in her bedroom, and she is always feeling cold. So rather than keep the whole house 10 degrees warmer i got her this, and she loves it. Keeps tie room warmer, and it's a large room. Puts out good heat. Most of the time she keeps it on low and its fine. But i like that it has a thermostat too.

Great Buy ! Honeywell Home Electric Heater Black

Great Buy ! Honeywell Home Electric Heater Black. I have a Dyson heater; it oscillates, has a remote control, adjustable fan, and heats during the winter and cools during the summer. I like it a lot - except that the heat temperature is no longer adjustable. The cost to fix is not acceptable - so I will continue to use it during the summer months for the cooling that it provides. This Honeywell heater has been a great alternative to the Dyson - I did look at getting a new Dyson, but I could buy 2 Honeywell heaters for less than the cost of 1 Dyson. The Honeywell heater has been great!!! I don't need it to oscillate; I don't need the remote control, and I don't need the cooling feature. The heat from this unit is fast generating and the settings are simple. The heat provided is great and warms you and your area up in no time. I use it in my living room which is about 500-600 square feet - but I don't need the whole room warmed up, just the area that I'm occupying, so it does what I need it to do. ...and if you knock it over, it automatically goes off - I know because I already knocked it over. The unit is very light weight and is easy to move from room to room if you want. If you are looking for a great and easy to use heater, this Honeywell Home Electric Heater is a great choice!

This is my first space heater ever, and I really wasn’t sure if it would even work. But this heater works really good and has a variety of settings. I love the way it shows the temperature of a room. The only thing I don’t like is the lowest setting while super quiet strangely also turns off the display which is less than helpful. As for how it heats, you have to keep your expectations reasonable, It will warm up a small bathroom-sized room into the 70’s. But a larger room like my family room/kitchen area it only gets things up about two degrees. Still better than nothing though. It works great under a desk. It actually can get too hot in that situation if you don’t turn it down. Overall a great purchase and I would highly recommend it.

I like the fact that it comes with multiple settings. I put it in my kitchen to quickly warm myself up while making breakfast. I consider it a good deal at a price of ~60. One thing to note: it comes with a digital switch (not a physical switch). What it means is that I can't plug it to a (Google/Amazon/etc.) WiFi smart plug and expect it to start working while I turn the plug on remotely. For other simpler fan heaters with physical switches, I'm able to leave the device switch on and control it remotely with a WiFi smart plug, but I can't play the same trick on this model.

This product is incredible, it heats our back family room which is the coldest room in the house... it is well insulated, the fireplace just lets in some cold. This heater gives off great heat and the blower is really nice... it heats the family room and bounces back to kitchen. I am buying another one!
