Please note it sounds like the mineral content in the water you are using is high, which can cause this ultrasonic humidifier to produce white dust on surfaces or furniture. To clarify, these types of machines turn the water into a mist and throw it out into the air. Whatever minerals/elements are in the water are also in the mist being put out by the machine. As the moisture evaporates into the air, the minerals/elements are left behind and will settle around the room as dust, and in most cases it is white. It is not harmful in any way; it is just the contents of your water. To prevent this from happening/reducing the amount of dust, distilled or purified water can be used in your machine. The amount of white dust you get is directly related to the hardness of your water. We hope this information is helpful.
