Didnt get the job done

The Mistmate is designed to humidify a small room, and it has a variable control so that you can get more or less mist, depending on your needs. If over-humidification is a concern, you might prefer a Cool Moisture Evaporative humidifier. Those humidifiers use a self-regulating technology that prevents over-humidification. Leaked out of the box!

I was sold on size, price, no filters and whisper quiet. The first couple of weeks it was perfect. Actualy too perfect. it was so quiet my son kept waking up several times a night because he "heard something". Fast forward. I bought a white noise machine so we could all sleep...and then my Honeywell started "whining". it now generates a medium to high pitch whine or whistle when you turn it on. What the heck happened. Now we have to jiggle, shake and turn it off and on over and over until it comes on quiet. Sometimes I just turn it on 30 minutes before bedtime and let it whistle itself to "sleep". Oh well, i will return for another one. Hopefully this one was defected.
